    The reason why seekers only take white damage from frostner is that seekers are resistant to slash, blunt, and pierce damage but not frost damage. And the reason why frostner does white damage but mistwalker does grey damage is because that frostner does frost more than other types of damage while the mistwalker does mainly slash. The color of the damage number depends solely on the most prominent damage type.
    Hope that answers it

  • @ivomollov3073

    Lemme address the Frostner damage showing in white. When displaying the damage, the game will calculate which damage type is most prevalent and display the color based on that. In the case of the Frostner frost is the highest damage and seekers are neutral to is so it's gonna be white. Another way to prove this is hitting a blob with Porcupine which has almost even split between pierce and blunt and see it take grey damage despite it's vulnerability to blunt. That's because the weapons highest damage is pierce which the blob is resistant to. Hope this helps

    An important note: you are fighting on nice flat open ground. Fighting with Frostner on a steep grade (as is most common in mistlands since it's basically Emyn Muil) will cause swings to miss if you are slightly above or below them, yet their attacks will still hit you. Opting for maneuverability in such terrain is also a questionable choice considering it's not possible to make good use of your speed in a lot of the cramped / constricted areas you will actually be fighting in (including the infested mines).

    To add to your Frostner review regarding the "white" damage dealt, It deal white damage because the frostner due to having most of its damage as Frost Damage, that is the reference damage shown when you hit a monster, therefore when you hit the seeker and it shows white, it is a "normal damage" indicator of the frost damage. the blunt damage is secondary
    For the mistwalker sword, the slash damage is the main damage, therefore it shows grey damage indicator.
    It is not a bug, it is a technical information.

    I find frost arrows helpful in dealing with seekers since it slows them down and keeps them at a safe distance. Requires higher stamina to fire a steady stream of arrows. Good for up to 3 seekers even 1 star ones, once it goes over that, I pop the bonemass forsaken power and iron sledge everything. For seeker soldier, if I'm mining something, I will use a tower shield and have him mine for me. Once I'm done with him I throw him in a ditch I dug earlier, takes too much time to defeat him. At least until I get new mistlands gear and weapons.

    The demolisher really screws these things over, one shots all ticks, and broods. Knocks about 1/2 off seekers, and stuns them. It doesn't work very well against the soldiers though. The issue really comes up when you run into 1 or 2 * versions. The 2* soldier is an absolutely monster. And you really can't parry him even w/max block, and 250 hp. I found the only way to deal w/these, is to find a high ground like he demonstrates, and just shoot them.

  • @wallstreetjesus7142
    @wallstreetjesus7142 Před rokem +5

    The reason the damage values for frostner are white is because seekers are resistant to all physical damage but take normal elemental damage. Frostner’s biggest damage value comes from frost damage so the game chooses that when giving feedback to the player in the form of colored damage values. The blunt portion of the damage is still reduced due to their resistance and the spirit portion is not applied because seekers are immune to spirit.

    • @wallstreetjesus7142
      @wallstreetjesus7142 Před rokem

      @@TheXboxSux are you seeing the grey numbers from the initial explosion or the burning tick damage? The initial explosion doesn’t seem to actually be fire elemental damage and is instead physical with the ability to affect enemies that are resistant/immune to fire like surtlings or cultists. The burning tick damage afterward is counted as elemental fire damage and does follow the according resistance/weakness rules. If it’s grey for the first explosion, then that would make sense due to seekers being resistant to physical damage. If it’s grey on the fire tick damage, then I don’t have an explanation.

    • @TheXboxSux
      @TheXboxSux Před rokem +2

      @@wallstreetjesus7142 Yeah, I just looked at the staff again and it has blunt damage so that's what the initial explosion causes. Just seems weird though. I guess they would have had to add a new damage type though and didn't want to since there's a lot of balancing probably.

    One thing that I consistently see in a lot of these videos that causes me to twitch is the ideas referencing shields. The parry bonus applies to to the block armor. 2.5 for bucklers, 1.5 for round shields. Before you get your hands on a carapace buckler your best option is going to be a black metal shield. Maxed out the iron buckler hits 40 BA, or 100 total block armor before your skill bonuses. The level 1 Black Metal Shield starts at 78, for a total of 117 BA when parrying. So, early on....bucklers for the win, absolutely. As soon as you get to that stage before getting carapace gear though, in terms of shields, your black metal shield is gonna be the one to carry you. Progression(if you prefer parrying) for shields in a snippet: Bronze Buckler --> Iron Buckler --> BMS --> Carapace Buckler.

    I know this video is for when you're *approaching* the Mistlands. However... Once you get the resources for it, the Himminafl wins all battles, hands down. Can't change my mind. I love that thing. You can handle huge crowds of enemies with it. The Demolisher is great for a backup to cheese fights too.
    Skoll & Hati get an honorable mention for having out while you run around. They're fantastic for keeping out at all times, because they don't slow you down, and you can parry pretty much any attack, even seekers. I especially love them for the plains, because they're super fast for parrying and taking out Deathsquitos. You can parry a Seeker and take it out in two to three rapid hits with Skoll & Hati. That's pretty much my weapon layout: Skoll & Hati, Himminafl, and Demolisher. Spine snap for range, obviously.
    I haven't even cared to go for the magic much yet, because this layout destroys everything. I'm only leveling up my magic skills in preparation for The Queen, because magic is pretty much required for her. Outside of skill leveling, I don't really use Eitr.

    Good video. I have thoughts. First off, parry is super effective against the seekers and the soldiers. The soldiers are super easy to parry, with either special attack. And both of them are weak from the rear. So the tactic that is most effective is to parry then run around back and kill. I have lots of luck with the porcupine and black metal shield. Second, I cannot imagine fighting 3 seekers as you first suggest. Running around that much in the mistlands will kill your stamina, and you are likely to aggro more bugs with how far you demonstrated moving to dodge. Plus you cannot see the terrain, so it won't work. Last bit, try using magic. It is really the only way to thrive in the mist. And it is very effective against the seekers and soldiers. Like I said, good video, very helpful. But try these tactics and maybe there is an even better combo to run against them.

    Seeker soldiers are the easiest insect to deal with. On a 1v1 situation they almost always headbutt twice then do a one-two aoe on the ground. Parrying the first two attacks and doing one special attack while they're staggered is probably the safest way to fight them. Also their weakness is on their bum. Duo is better against these guys.

    • @Ender99999
      @Ender99999 Před rokem

      Seekers, on the other hand, have quite the longer and faster attacks. You can parry them with a shield given that you have enough hp to not get staggered. Once you parry them, get close and do a special attack, sometimes it just takes one special attack against them. Blackmetal sword is my main weapon choice for special attack.

I now don't know why i've spent days making these new weapons that don't even work very well. Magic is horrid in this game as well. The mage set bonus of 40% regen is broken and bugged. I get the same regen in my carapace armor. Mistlands has been pretty underwhelming, but that's par for the course in gaming these days.

      I actually like the spear for dungeons(doesn't hit walls and has a quick ranged attack) and for quickly killing the seeker soldiers. For the soldiers it only takes maybe three parries as long as you run around and get the crit hit. I always keep the demolisher hammer on me for swarms of ticks and for knocking back seeker groups for some breathing room. Crossbow is handy for when you are forced to clear a gjall since its trajectory allows for easy crits on them and it does high damage. Other than that, two handed weapons have always been a novelty. I never used the polearms or battleaxes, so i have zero reason to think they are worth it now. I haven't used any of the magic casting gear yet. Hope this helped a little.

    You can't say that creatures or mobs are "maneuverable", unless it is you who goes inside that creature and manoeuvres, or steers it around...like a car or a vehicle.
    What you are trying to say, is that they are very mobile, that they move around easily and freely.
