- The ruins of Spiš Castle (Slovak: Spišský hrad) in eastern Slovakia form one of the largest castle sites in Central Europe. It was included in the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites in 1993. This is one of the biggest European castles by area.
Spiš Castle was built in the 12th century on the site of an earlier castle. It was the political, administrative, economic and cultural center of Szepes County of the Kingdom of Hungary.

The beautiful place, scenery, and atmosphere make me feel happy and rich. There is a limit to what I can experience normally because it is limited. The castle looks amazing! It's nice that it's on the UNESCO site list and that it looks like they're maintaining it to keep it from falling further into ruin.
Indeed Donna, they are doing their part. In fact I wasn't able to visit the upper chambers because it was closed for renovations. They're renovating the electricity distribution within the castle while maintaining the historical integrity intact and it would help to protect it from further damages.
