You NEED to listen to the live version from the Pulse concert in 1994. If you felt cheated on the guitar solo here… you will NOT be disappointed. It’s notably one of the best if not The Best solo ever.

The song is from a double Pink Floyd album called "The Wall". It is a concept album about a rockstar losing his mind. It is considered a masterpiece. This song occurs about 2/3 of the way into the story. Now check out the live Pulse version from 1994 and be prepared to have your mind blown.

Solid reaction! Floyd's my favorite band, David Gilmour's my favorite guitarist. Keep heading down this rabbit hole and you'll find them to be one of the GOATs. Try the studio version of Time next. The biggest thing about Pink Floyd is their music seems to surround you while their lyrics are some of the most profound ever written.

Love the reaction. Talk as you like. I think this is one of the great bands of all time, along with a couple other's you have already done. I hope you do Time by this band, though no one who has suggested that you should do The Wall, and Dark Side of the Moon, each from beginning to end, is wrong. Both albums are made to be heard from beginning to end. Even if you did them one at a time, I think you would love nearly every song on both. The same could be said for Led Zeppelin 1 and 4, and a few others.

Pink Floyd "Echoes (Part 1)" live at Pompeii 1972

Another great band to get into. My second favorite behind Zeppelin. You are really getting into good bands my man. And yes, this is considered the greatest guitar solo of all time, not for being difficult, it's pretty easy to play, but because of the emotion and power in it. Ranked #1 in lists of guitar solos.

Another great band for you to check out is RUSH, a Canadian power trio with 3 virtuosos. Many RUSH fans are also big Pink Floyd and Yes fans. Geddy Lee, the bassist played with the band for their induction into the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame. When they first got radio airplay, everyone was convinced they were hearing Led Zeppelin - that song was Working Man. I recommend checking out this live version = 3 cups of coffee. In the distant past we all had favorite groups and had to wait months and months for new releases, but when you find a classic group that piques your interest, you have their whole catalog at you disposal immediately! Maybe give a listen to Jethro Tull, especially their earlier albums.

Yes the Pulse version is spectacular, as is every single track at the Pulse Concert.

Hey, appreciate you sticking around for my journey! From Northern UK and just turned the big 40! As I mention in my bio, I have been quite sheltered in my experience of rock music (younger days were saved for rap music!), basically only last few years have I explored some of my dads stuff ACDC, Eagles, Queen, ELO, NiK Kershaw of all people etc. It stuns me how much I've missed out on and am yet to introduce my amateur ears too!! Loving the experience so far though!

Ok, the song's about a treatment Roger Waters received in the US for back pain. He had an injection in his back so he could go on stage that night to perform. From all accounts he tripped out a bit from the injection, hence the title "Comfortably Numb"!
The guitarist is Dave Gilmore, probably one of the greatest guitarist of all time, he can make a Fender Stratocaster sing!
Quick point, shut-up while he's playing, just sit there and let the sounds woft over you!
Get the album "Dark Side of the Moon" and listen to that, it's one of the greatest albums of all time!
    And yes, it's Pink Floyd!
In reality you should listen to Pink Floyd in a dark room, sound turned up and chuffing on a joint! 😄😄😄
I'm sure others would agree! 😆😆😆

@@MusicForTheSoulReactions As I mentioned in your Kashmir reaction, Tool is a band with a fanatical fan base. If you get into Tool, numbers will come your way. My favorite bands ( I’m in my 70’s) are Zep and Floyd, but I discovered Tool ( 90’s to today) during the pandemic and was gobsmacked. Yes is prog rock, as you’ve discovered. You’re learning about all kinds of new genres and sub-genres ….sometimes it’s gets absurd, IMO. But Tool in pretty unique, like Floyd or Zep. If one needs to assign them a genre, it would be prog metal. Yes meets Metallica.
