Man I really dig these videos where you experiment and show your process on how you make props. Could be interesting for a longer format videos instead of shorts. I'd watch it
I was in the Army, helping out in the kitchen during a training event. Since I was a Medic, these 2 guys thought I would be able to better judge an eggo waffle syrup chugging contest. After the contest both guys had to go to the hospital where they were treated and released after a few hours of puking and crapping syrup and bile. They looked awful white for about 24 hours but lived. 😂
No frickin way! Scotts ears must have been burning... I'm MIND blown.. I was literally JUST talking about this yesterday in the car with my wife and said out loud "I bet Scott Reeder would know how they did that, or he could find out..." And less than 24 hours later here we are... What are the odds? Of all movies, and all scenes... I can't even fathom that astronomical number...
Totally believe you based on your wording. Yea that's insane that it even happened brother isn't it wild when things like this happen you just want everyone to know but are certain nobody will believe you. That's awesome bro.
@@Niners585 when I got the notification I almost dropped my phone 😂 reallyyyyy makes you wonder about shit like the "butterfly effect" and how much influence our projections actually have. I would love to know when Scott actually filmed this and edited it and whatnot.
Sweet! I'm not gonna sugar coat it, you made this whole thing transparent and, though the plot thickened in the middle, there was a smooth finish. I hope that's not too sappy.
Yeah, they use it for people who have trouble swallowing liquids. For example, after a stroke, some people can't drink properly, and, as a result, fluids can get into the lungs instead of it all going to your stomach. This can mean patients get pneumonia and, in an already poorly person, end up with their death.❤❤❤
I remember I got some of that powder in a joke box that I bought from a book fair sales pamphlet in elementary or middle school. I proceeded to pour it in my friends' chocolate milks at lunch and they never figured out wth happened lol
Nice!! Thanks for doing this! I still wish we knew if they actually drank a whole bottle of syrup...that would be an ER trip waiting to happen. Also, love the puns!
Oh yeah, good old water thickener. A product I’ve definitely heard of before today, that definitely hasn’t caught me off guard and made me question my overall comprehension of the world around me.
Good idea, but there are two problems with that: Color. Root beer is generally darker than syrup. Carbonation. If you allowed the root beer to go flat, it would eliminate the bubbles. Unfortunately, you'd be left with flat soda and that's worse than other options, IMHO. Very reminiscent of the three-hour glucose test pregnant women endure (flat, sickeningly sweet - ugh). I really can't imagine drinking actual maple syrup either. It would send me into a diabetic coma for sure. Thank goodness, Scott is willing to do the research for us.
So I looked this stuff up as I was curious, apparently one of the ingredients is erythritol. While it is an effective artificial sweetener, recent studies show it can raise blood pressure and cause cardiovascular damage. This isnt 100% proven, but caution would be advised.
Glugging a whole container of actual maple syrup (or pancake syrup) is an extremely bad idea since it would send you glucose levels to hell and back. Glad there are suitable cheats.
I remember hearing years ago that it was the pancake/waffle syurp that was used. And that it took several takes. But in watching you ,i got to thinking if a lot of takes, how sick would they have gotten off the stuff? Can you imagine the amount of sugar they would have consumed.
I pounded a ton of syrup one day after school on accident because my mom had put it in a container that we would normally put our ice tea in and it took a minute before I realized what it was because initially I didn't feel it going down my throat because of the thickness. It traumatized me for a while and I couldn't eat pancakes for a long time after that lol.
What kind of Props did the three stooges use. I asked a lady here I know whose dad performed on “the little bakers/acromaniacs” and opened for them and as pictures with her dad with Larry moe and curly, but I was just curious as to the kind of props used?
I chugged maple syrup to impress a waitress at a truck stop when I was in my early 20's... I barfed on my way home and my roommates ditched me in the desert between the truck stop and the house, but it totally paid off. Lol
I watched him grill a few minutes ago then the syrup. In the grilling video I was like that’s a gd live oak tree in the yard background. Then he busts out the same maple syrup I buy at my local Tijuana-b. (S. NB & I37 aka:McCreless)
The only issue with your hole in the bottle is you don't get the "glug glug" bubbles like they have in the film. There's not enough of a visual indication that it's being drank quickly.
You didn't make it quite thick enough. The color is a bit too dark and not quite red enough. The real stuff is amber compared to your coloring. The best quality is the "light clear" type which is very clear but colored. It is very high in sugar. The percentage is something like 60% so the flow action is slower than for water.
Real maple syrup is very thin, almost like water. The cheap-ass imitation store bought stuff is mostly corn syrup and very thick because A) that's what sells and B) people outside Vermont don't know what authentic maple syrup is
It provides a visual interest to the scene. The reflections and light dancing off the wet pavement make for a more vibrant and colorful shot. A dry road at night appears almost black or dark gray compared to the rest of the background. Also, for car chases, it reduces rubber markings on the road and allows the cars to drift easier. And if they need to reshoot the car chase, no marks on the road that would ruin continuity. Probably other applications as well. Hope that helps!
Real 100% maple syrup is runny like water, NOT THICK like cheap table syrup! It is actually pretty easy to chug if you can get past the strong taste. It's also very expensive! If you watch the movie, they're chugging the bigger bottle that are the fake maple syrup. Real 100% maple syrup does not come in those bigger bottles
No doubt the writers' strike is hard to swallow, but Scott has provided us a sweet video in his down time. Drink it in, folks
😂😂😂❤❤❤
I've taken the liberty of sending you a pint of insulin.
Man I really dig these videos where you experiment and show your process on how you make props. Could be interesting for a longer format videos instead of shorts. I'd watch it
I would watch the hell out of that!
I cannot second this enough. I just found this channel literally 5 minutes ago and these 1 minute videos are great. But it leaves me wanting MOAR!
I honestly think the haunted attractions community would love some of what he could come up with

@@vikkiledgard8483 Thanks for the reply.
can you thank me too
he didn’t jus chug syrup like that did he
I did.
A new video from Scott Prop and Roll? Sweet!
I'd go for the thickened water route too. As much as I like tea and syrup, chugging it down like that is too far into Diabetes Town, even for me!
Well you don't get diabetes that way. It comes from too much fat and as a result things work wrong.
bro I'm a Vermonter, and my family has made maple syrup for generations, and I have so much respect for you for chugging that syrup straight!
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍So cool that, as a prop master, you made it look like real maple syrup.🎬 📽🍿😊
We come for the props. Leave with a pun. I love it

Way back in the 1970s I had some from the inventors - used it to make coffee that you could stand your spoon up in.
Fun stuff, and very useful.
I love waiting for the inevitable Dad Joke! The videos are ALWAYS interesting, and the Dad Joke just brings it in for the touchdown.
"Syrup-titiously".... 11/10
was trying to work out the joke at the end but was distracted by the video and you got me, didn't see it coming, damn you lol

HEB? I didn't think you were in Texas. 🤯
Imagine shooting a whole CZcams video to get away with chugging maple syrup.
A new video yaaay!
Came for the props. Staying for the puns
Oh yeah, good old water thickener. A product I’ve definitely heard of before today, that definitely hasn’t caught me off guard and made me question my overall comprehension of the world around me.
Water thickener is used to make water easier to swallow for people with certain disabilities. It keeps them from choking on it.
I think I would have used thickened "flat" root beer just for the taste!!!😬
😮😢❤❤❤

"Go down the throat easier"
I didn’t know you were Texan!!! HEB syrup gave it away 😅
I still can't believe I chugged a whole bottle, back in high school, after seeing this.
This one really hit me in the A1C
Oh you really forced that pun 😂
Sweet!
I've chugged many a beverage but I've never chugged syrup
Glugging a whole container of actual maple syrup (or pancake syrup) is an extremely bad idea since it would send you glucose levels to hell and back. Glad there are suitable cheats.
Chugging actual syrup could become hazardous depending on the number of takes required ... anybody know whats the LD50 for maple syrup?
I literally was wondering about this recently 🤣
The advantage to the thickened water is you can flavor it to taste….. which is gonna the actors chug it
The bubbles in the movie are part of what sells it as sryup
Love the content, but I’m always waiting for the dad jokes at the end. Lol
And after the video he's doing jumping jacks for an hour, hopped up on sugar 😅!
You’re too damn cool!!!
Hey Scott! Could you do a video about the opening sequence from Raiders of the Lost Ark? That’d be amazing! Great work my friend!
I remember hearing years ago that it was the pancake/waffle syurp that was used. And that it took several takes. But in watching you ,i got to thinking if a lot of takes, how sick would they have gotten off the stuff? Can you imagine the amount of sugar they would have consumed.
Hoo boy! Careful with that; had a buddy that actually did the chug when we were teens and went hyperglycemic, landed at the hospital
sappy, but will stick with me for a while.
🤣
I’m just subscribed for the puns😂
CHUG CHUG CHUG CHUG CHUG CHUG CHUG CHUG CHUG!!!!
I drank a bottle of syrup at an applebees on a trivia night as a physical challenge. Its not as difficult as you’d think.
I feel nauseous just watching you drink all that 😂😭
You're also less likely to send your actors into diabetic shock
Good one!! 😋
Now that was fun. I want to have waffles now 🐱🧇
I read they all got pretty sick after that scene.
I would think drinking pure syrup (real maple or flavored high fructose corn syrup) would seriously mess up one’s sugars.
Love seeing H‑E‑B products

Wouldn't you vomit if you chugged a whole bottle of maple syrup?
Vomiting is unlikely but a few hours later you won't be a happy camper. Imagine the syrup is 60% sugar. How would you feel after eating that much.
I would want to “leave” before I “fall” down. You’re welcome.

Maple syrup must be thicker in Canada because non of those look right to me.
Yes it is, even the fake paper mills stuff. Closer to the consistency of honey tgen water.
@@Teh_Random_Canadian that sounds correct. To even to drink the fake stuff like that I'd need to squeeze the bottle.
What is the water thickener? Sodium alginate? Guar gum? Xanthan gum?
In the old shows like gunsmoke.
When they pour a beer, is it real because there is a foam head on it.
❤️
If it didn't feel so wasteful, I would chug maple syrup just for fun
I don't know for sure but i think Prop departments maple my leg
Now a prop needle for the diabetes.
I heard they got sick from drinking the syrup, headaches or something
So why, when Will Ferrel used a tube in Elf, did they actually guzzle the stuff?
How do you recreate , like a shooting scene when person getting shot
It's best just to make a decision and stick with it, not waffle.
There is no such thing as "organic" maple syrup.
Thats a marketing gimmick
I love your content and wish creating it wasn’t so… sticky. I’ll show myself out.
Was this a short cuz I've already seen this

Hay please tell why the streets are usually wet in a movie scene?
It provides a visual interest to the scene. The reflections and light dancing off the wet pavement make for a more vibrant and colorful shot. A dry road at night appears almost black or dark gray compared to the rest of the background.
