- Hello :) This is a Bass and Drum Play-Along of the transcription I did of the Pat Metheny song "Jaco". Mark Egan was the bass player on the original recording.
CZcams has blocked the cover I did, but you can find it on my website in the "Video" section:

This song makes for an excellent bass study. There are some really good 16th note groove rhythms and a nice bass solo - • Jaco - Pat Metheny - B...
Thanks for watching and I hope you enjoy :)

Hi Greg, Always enjoy your video’s. 👍🏾🙏🏿😊
Hey Trevor! Thanks man, I appreciate that :) Shame about it being blocked...but hopefully it will be "unblocked someday"...cheers!
Amazing, thank you so much, man!!!!
Hey Jose...my pleasure. It's a shame the "cover" has been blocked...but hopefully this will help too...thanks!
Awesome music! I love Pat Metheny. I love his music. RIP Lyle Mays. He was an awesome musician.
Hi Jason. Me too. I really like his improvising and phrasing...a legend! :)
I used to have a collection of Pat Metheny Group CDs. Another song I love by Pat Metheny Group I'd love to hear if you can play is "(Cross the) Heartland" from American Garage.
@@jasoncarpp7742 I'm not familiar with that one. I'll have a listen and see what I can do...thanks ;)
You should check it out. There's so much to listen to from Pat Metheny. Awesome playing! :)
@@jasoncarpp7742 I just did :)...to a live version from '81 in Japan. I may have heard it before? It sounds familiar. I'd love to transcribe that one, however...I really only have time for my "paid supporter" requests right now. And as you can imagine...your tune will take some time ;) Have you checked out my links below? Become a supporter and I'll gladly give this one a go! Hope you understand...thanks :)
Obrigado
My pleasure...thank you :)
Thanks. It may take me a while, but Thanks, Thanks thanks.
My pleasure :) Have fun!
Hi Greg, thanks
Hi Badidou! My pleasure :)
👍🏽👍🏽Thank you.
Hi Scott...you're welcome :)
Hi Greg, could you prepare All along the watchtower of Jimi Hendrix? It has a serious bassline 😵😵
Hi Greg.. really cool stuff.. thank you.. oh off topic question?? Is that a Fender Jazz with pick guard removed?? It’s looks really awesome.. did you buy it like that or have it modified?? Just wondering.. have a great day..
hey Drew! Thanks man :) Yup, it's a Fender Jazz with the pickguard removed and I put some EMG pickups in it back in the '80s. She's my baby ;)
Your playing is fine, but I am not getting anything like Jaco's playing out of this song? Why make a song called Jaco that sounds NOTHING like his playing? SMH--- Metheny.
Hey Harc, I was thinking the same thing when I was working on it. Although near the end, Mark Egan plays this half step into the 5th kind of thing that I've heard Jaco play. And other than that he played a fretless, that's the only thing resemblance to Jaco I noticed. I'd love to know why he (Pat M) called the tune Jaco?
@@BassCovers I have read, that the inspiration for the song was not his bass playng, but one horn line from Come on Come over.
@@BassCovers And thank You very much, helped me a lot playng along :-)
@@stefansegi2540 Hey Stefan, thanks for the trivia. Now I have to go listen to it and see if I can hear that horn line :)
@@stefansegi2540 You're very welcome :)
