    I guess you probably know this, but even if you reset the phone with a hard reset ( 5:47 ) the previous account will still be on the phone just like iCloud lock. You can still remove it, but this can be quite tedious. I would recommend to go through the setup process to make sure you don't need to type in the previous owners Google account.

    If it wasn’t for you I wouldn’t have wanted to start repairing electronics. I asked for an iFixit toolkit for Christmas and I’ve been working on iPhones. I had some decent screwdrivers I got with an iPhone 8 LCD and I’ve already repaired my friends screen and his girlfriends screen on their 2nd gen iPhone SE’s. I even replaced the battery in my old iPhone 8 and multiple screen replacements

Recently I fixed my pixel 6 pro back glass and I had to remove the front screen too for nfc and charging coil but when I reinstalled it I had left a glass shard right behind the screen long story short there is camera punch sized on the left mid of the phone where you usually read messages which is quite annoying

    That was a nice easy repair, from what I saw - I don't see why Ifixit has to give these Samsung phones a low repair score when replacing a display, back glass and battery is relatively straightforward with the right tools in hand.
    There's only one type of screw used, and no software locks to be seen in sight.

    • @HNedel
      @HNedel Před rokem +6

      It’s difficult to open them without cracking the back glass, the battery has no pull tabs so it will get bent or damaged when removed. And the display costs more than a used working phone. Although this might not factor in the score. While it’s better than an iphone, it doesn’t compare with their older phones like the S2 on repairability.

    • @IntelliPocalypse
      @IntelliPocalypse Před rokem +5

      I don't know why they give the iPhone a high repairability score. They lock everything to the phone. Can't change your battery without a message popping up and battery health being disabled. Can't change the screen without it messing up true tone. They may be easy to take apart, but they are technically impossible to repair without being able to register the new parts.

    • @joveymcjupi4455
      @joveymcjupi4455 Před rokem +1

      It's because they bought a screen with a frame already attached to it. The screen came with a whole housing. Granted the housing of this phone is really messed up, but I've seen Hugh do the same thing for phones that have good housings as well, unfortunately.
      If you try to use your own phone's housing, that means you need a ton of glue and a ton of patience to remove the old screen which will definitely shatter into a million pieces.
      iFixit takes that into account. Hugh Jeffreys doesn't, for some reason.

    • @SeoWoojin55
      @SeoWoojin55 Před rokem +2

      Its pretty obvious. Samsung does not pay IFixit while Apple has always had a shady relationship with iFixit. If Samsung paid ifixit too, the scores would be high. I never trusted Ifixits repair guides tbh

      After replacement of screen on Samsung devices, the finger print sensor still works.
      You can check in his other Samsung videos.

    Love your videos. Just waiting for my ebay s20ultra with shdows on the screen. Hope is burning and not a black dot... A critic on the video: i missed information about prices of the replacements and the broken phone and the origin of the display. Is it original oled? Also how do you unlock frp (i suppose you dont tell that on purpose)

    With this much damage and disassembly, have you ever considered just getting the replacement screen panel and polishing & electroplating the old frame? Would be an interesting project at least and might end up being cheaper.

    Hello, nice repair video. The initialization was not looked by the previous owner Google account? Usually hardware buttons hard reset requires to connect with previous owner Google acccount.

    The red sticker on the back of the loudspeaker is not a liquid damage indicator. It's just a red sticker to keep all the foam balls inside of the speaker module. I've repaired dozens of s20 Ultras and all of them have that red sticker

    Would you be interested in an iphone 8 for parts? It's all in pieces as I was going to restore it but the price was too high and can't default the passcode. I was told it got wet but I can't see any signs of it had gotten wet. Except for the layers of the screen. Glass is still good.

    My S21 Ultra reaches its second birthday soon and was tossing up if I should pay the money and swap it for another from Samsung as it’s insured with them. The phone has a couple of screen chips from it landing on the screen after dropping 30cm but other than that is perfect. After Hugh mentioned the battery I might think harder about it now.
