    Just performed this on my 2014 Audi Q5 - Video is spot on. One change I made ... I did not remove the joint. I sprayed the penetrating oil while a friend turned the wheel back and forth. Then I cleaned up the oil and added grease. Smooth turning now. If you have access to a lift this is an option.

    My 2013 A4 had the same problem but not always and not as bad as this one. Mine wasn't as rusted as in this video....
    I sprayed it down with WD40, loosened the bold and took the U-joint off. After a few times going back and forth it already loosened up. I cleaned the joint with breake cleaner and prayed it again with some WD40 before covering it with grease. It worked! Hope it stays like that :-)

    I have similar issue and I been turning the steering wheel all the way to the right, then go from the front and spray some lubricants or wd4. That would work for a month then back to same issue again.
    I was wondering if you can extend the life by retrofiting a boot after you losen the bottom bracket? would that work? why or why not? willing to hear what others have tried?

    • @EDGEMOTORS
      @EDGEMOTORS  Před 5 lety

      You have to grease it really good. And make sure it is covered in grease.
      FYI wd40 is water based... so at first it lubes, but then might promote oxidation.
      And you have to do what was done in the video... turning steering wheel right and left will not do the trick.
