I'm Haitian and I can name 10 Nigerian artists on top of my head. Well deserved, Nigeria 🇳🇬
Thanks for showing the world that Zangalewa comes from Cameroon. So many people thought that it was Shakira's invention
True I thought so too
Ohhh yeah 🎶 🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦
Well done Nigeria 🇳🇬, well deserved 🥇 place.
Hahaha I’m Nigerian.
As soon as I hit play, I just wanted to see Nigeria as first, at its rightful spot. God has blessed the nation with musical abilities.
Lots of props to S.A., would not have put any other African country at number 2!

Nigerian music all the way❤️❤️🇳🇬🇳🇬😁😁💃.. Naija no dey carry last🔥🔥

The beautiful thing about African music, is that it seeks to elevate our women in the lyrics and tries to be positive in the vibes it gives out.
Spot on sir 🙏
DRC should be the first one when it comes to dancing music period
Check the Music charts in All Countries in Africa... Nigeria dominates the charts... So, I want to say a BIG thank you to all our African Brothers and Sisters in every African country for the love and support being given to Nigerian entertainment... You are all appreciated!
Nigerians are everywhere so they likely to listen to their own music in foreign countries like everyone will relate with their own music
@@lozi4163 not because of that. The fact is that we produce better music than you.
Whats working in Nigerias favour is be cos they sing in pidgin English which can easily be understood around the world.. The rest all sing mostly in local dialects...if they were to sing in local dialects it would have been equal playing field for all African countries .. I enjoyed all the music featured from all the countries.. At the moment Nigeria is the face of African music..
As a SAn I totally agree with Nigeria being no.1 it's really really beautiful. Also Amapiano taking the second spot.
Heyy! I'm Zambian, they got me too, I went what??? When i didn't hear Nigeria at number one the first time lol
As a Nigerian, I must confess all those guys that made the list really rock down here in Nigeria too. We love you all and appreciate your good work. For other African countries not on the list, don't worry guys. We win together. One love from Lagos, Nigeria... Peace 🕊️
Agree❤️

Im a Ghanaian but I'll go with Nigeria as #1 in music
Congo is the pioneer of african music.
Nigeria and Ghana been busy lately producing quality music.

Cos yall don't appreciate ya shit, precisely like the rest of the other countries. This boy will play Nigerian songs a-z but never his. He's Cameroonian. Do you think these Nigerians listen to other African country songs? It is not like their making better songs than someone.
@@may_beeharuno2195you are capping rubbish,Nigeria music is full of quality and rhythm
@@jennyjoseph3296 What is your problem? Do you think other countries do useless songs?
@@may_beeharuno2195 I don’t have a problem..you are capping rubbish by saying Nigerians don’t listen to other countries music..if it’s up to the standard we have here irrespective of the country we blow it up here
What I enjoy the most about our music space as South Africa is the richness and variety that comes with it.
We have a very rich House music heritage that gave birth to many sub genres.
We have our distinct sound and have dope artists across every genre.
Jazz we are there
Hip-hop we are so much there, as heavily influenced of course by the US.
Rnb we are there
We have music for everyday of the week.
The Amapiano you would listen to on Friday isnt the same as the Amapiano youd listen to on a Sunday afternoon.
Which is why its very difficult for foreign genres to dominate here. Theres is music for everyone not just 1 genre dominating.
😂😂😂😂but you people can't own the country
Kenyan here. I can say we have different music depending on where you are. If you are in Nairobi, the leading styles are gengetone...very danceable and dominating in clubs. If you are in the coast, we have both the relaxed taarab and the faster bongo. Then we have some Swahili sort of pop semi RnB style dominated by sauti sol and hip hop dominated by Kaligraph.
But then as an African I can say everyone loves the variety we get when we listen to all styles. Everyone around me LOOOVES west African afrobeats, South African kwaito, East Africa's bongo, and central african sukus. They carry the African soul🥰🥰😍
So proud of Nigeria for taking the African music international.
Burundian here. Not gonna lie, back in Nameless’ time, Kenyan music was fire
Windeck and Prakatatumba were bangers here in SA back in the day🔥
It was same here in Nigeria bro
Same here in Nigeria, it was a hit
Ghana too
Nigeria to the world!🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬
If DRC isn't n°1, know that music never exist
Congratulations to Nigeria 🇳🇬 from 🇿🇦.
Congo DRC makes music that makes you dance for dance and they've carried the music scene in Africa for longest time.
That's very true, growing up in SA I listened to such Music from Koffi Olemide, Papa Wemba etc Congo definitely dominated the scene at some point
DRC and Angola got the hardest beats 🔥
That's Sooo true,iam from there 🇨🇩🇨🇩🇨🇩
100% facts
Congolese music did have a chokehold on the subcontinent for decades.
Zambia 🇿🇲 ❤, South Africa 🇿🇦 Nigeria 🇳🇬 Ghana 🇬🇭 and Drc congo 🇨🇩
All the artists mentioned in South Africa all do different genres, which is why they're the best for me🔥
Our music is definitely not monotonous and that's great!
I think every countries have various Genre also but some are more popular
Even Nigeria has lots of different genres... Afrobeat is just one of the Nigerian genres dominating right now...Nigeria has different genres selling really well in Nigeria and being pushed to the world....
@@interestingthingstoknow8975which one is that?
@@marshathomas6422we rap, we trap, we have reggae singers, we have slow songs, it’s just Afrobeats time. If you knew anything about Naija, it’s that the entertainment industry is first in Africa and 3rd in the world after US and India period
Nigerian here 😊
Not surprised we top the list. We use our numbers and creativity to our advantage. Nigerian music is very versatile too.
I respect SA music alot. I think they have the best beats and we Nigerians vibe to it. My fave there is Nasty C.
I think when it comes to Rap, Ghana and SA are better off in no particular order.
We Nigerians just do alot of things and go places and we are so good at it.
No competition for number 1 spot everyone knows.
9ja to the world and we ain’t slowing down anytime soon.
Congo and SouthAfrica should top the list because they dance and sing their culture! I am Tanzanian, but Congo and SouthAfrica music raised me up!!
True 💯💯💯💯💯
As a South African I agree with Nigeria at number 1 and SA second spot
Very good point! “Rap music is not very popular in Africa because it’s not danceable.” I’m glad of that, as well, now living in Africa 👍
Congo DRC should be #1 that country has made all of Africa dance!! And the music inspired all the dancing in Africa! Put some respect to DRC
I'm a Nigerian, but I cannot deny the place of Congolese music, it should be between the number 1 or 2 spot❤❤.
True
Made Africa dance and the others didn't?
Fact
Yesssssss that's true
Fun Fact: South africa doesnt do Afrobeats
Unfortunately, I mean there are some remixes but SA music needs more afrobeats
Why?

As a Kenyan I can say Congo has the best music by far. They've been there for a long time and they've never disappointed us. I thought they would be rank number one on the list but no worries for me they don't have competitors.
My top list:
1. Congo
2. Nigeria
3. South Africa
4. Tanzania
Yes, I was surprised at how far Congo was on the list! Maybe Nigeria is more in the now while Congo has been international for decades and still continues to deliver, so the number 1 could be debatable.
@@GUwe I totally agree. Nigerians are doing a good job and they're so hardworking. I'll give credit where its due but truth be said they produce music that is short lived. But most of the Congolese music can be played in next generations and beyond. So still for me I'll rank Congo in the fisr place closely followed by our Oga brothers the Nigerians. I love their music and I'm amazed at how hardworking they are. They have my respect and Congolese have my heart. Either ways, Africa wins.
@@graceawuor8230 I'd probably agree with you with Congo as number 1 but I have to recognise my bias, I love the music 😅 I think the ranking would also be different depending on if it's a anglophone or francophone doing the ranking, Congolese music is much more popular in francophone Africa
@@GUwe I'm an anglophone person but I'll give Congolese music highest ranking. I speak for other anglophone people who celebrate Congolese music. Actually we enjoy their music more than francophone do. Even without understanding the words the music speaks to our hearts. Anyways, I recognise that I might be bias because I Congolese music. But what can I say? I mean they're epitome of excellence. Talent galore!
no need for dragging our selves , u can't force music on people, it gats to be loved unconditionally and we know who attracts that love most.. one love Africa
The dresses are called Dira. They are won mostly by Tanzanians and Kenyans

Fun fact: Shakira actually claimed to have come up with that "waka-waka" song and tune..but, truth is, it had been around waaay before the 2010 soccer world cup..so, she stole that song and lied about it.. crazy.
I think she was sued by the original owners
Lovely report showcasing beautiful African music. African music is truly a beautiful blessing to the world
I'm Nigerian, but honestly Congo and South Africa has got the best music in Africa across all generations. Their sounds are unique . Everyone sings and dances. Nigeria got the numbers, diversity of genre, quality of production and worldwide reach.
Keep dreaming bro
If you say Congo 🇨🇩 that's fine but South Africa 🇿🇦 is a hell of no for me cos when did Amapiano come out for them to be the best even Afrobeat has been trending before Amapiano

What about Mali, Gambia, Senegal ? There is some heavenly music coming from West Africa, very traditional too !
Don't mind them...
The Kora is indeed heavenly music. Africa with its 54 countries and each country has its own tradition it’s difícil to determine .
In Tanzania we call those types of dresses “Dera” and the twerking way of dancing is a cultural thing for the coastal people of Tanzania
You would also love "Sweet Mother" by Prince Nico Mbarga who got his inspiration whilst living in Nigeria. He later relocated to his country Cameroun. He actually ascended into Ancestry from there.
Cheers.
Prince Nico died in Nigeria
Sir Nico mbarga was half nigerian as his mother was nigerian and he was born in Abakaliki, South East, Nigeria. His music was inspired by nigerian Highlife music.
He died in Calabar Nigeria.
Nigerians didn't just start now. Nigerians been doing it for years. You can't think nigeria and not think entertainment, fashion, food
🤔Mali and Sénégal have been forgotten but the sélection is représentative.Nigeria and Congo RDC lead urban music in subsaherian countries.

Naija nor dey carry last❤❤❤. proudly NIGERIAN 🇳🇬🇳🇬
For sure
2:24 Angola has a strong musical history…but most of Afrika sleeps on it (l think because they are lusophone and there is more of a strong zouk like culture). People woke up when they heard windek…but there are more bigger hits (esp if you like kuduro)
I'll look this up. I don't like listening to music from only a few countries. I wanna know what else is out there. I have an app (that I'll not name here) that plays diverse African music here in Kenya
@@panafrican.nation if you like chilled music…try zouk. If you like hard hitting dance music …then it’s kuduro.
Yes a couple Angolan singers have expressed that. The fact that they speak Portuguese stops them from internationalising their careers. But yes we do have a rich musical history with our Kizomba, Kuduro, Semba, just to name a few.
@@Haiyan25 which is sad really. What they need is more collaborations with other musicians from other nations
@@BatsiraiMusuka a lot do try to do collabs, but it’s mostly with other Portuguese speaking countries like Brazil, Mozambique, Cape Verde, Guiné Bissau and São Tomé, as they do similar style music.
You're covering his eyes!
Better get some blindfolds ready for when you get to Africa 😂.
You guys should know that music isn't all about vocals. There are music genres with very ear bugging vocals (e.g metallical), yet, people enjoy them. Yes, vocals are important to some people but not everyone. Some people are crazy about instrumentals! Some are thrilled by the way an artist flows with lyrics even if that artist has mediocre vocals. I think grading of music on a fair scale should be based on the kind of genre.
Do not forget Gabon with Eben production and some iconic dance move...
I love the way you closed his eyes u need to protect him
Yes Nigeria is number 1 but how can the presenter not mention Fela Kuti as one of the greatest artists that took Nigerian music to the world 😭. It's a crime against music itself 😂
Please Congo Drc should drag number one with Nigeria.. u have good music from mail and Guinea conkry
I think that congo comes second, it surely can't come after Ghana, the Congolese music has been dominating the scene since probably in the 60s,
That last last part 😂😂
Rap music was used by ancient Igbos to tell stories, give eulogies etc.
Yes, our forefathers were rappers!!!
I enjoyed watching this video because I was educated on some songs that I knew but I never knew where they came from like Windek(sorry if I didn't type it out right🙏). Nigeria is most definitely number 1 because I know that most Africans at least know 2 songs from Nigeria. As a South African I will forever keep my country as number 1 to me❤. But either than that I want to see other African countries also spreading world wide because they are soooooooooooooooooo good and are influential. Great reaction and thank you for loving African music❤
I was a little surprised to not see Senegal. My first exposure to African music was back in the 90's from Youssou N'Dour, Orchestra Baobab & Baaba Maal who are all Senegalese. Maybe they had they're heyday at that point and haven't really followed up with much.
Am surprised that my country is in the chat 🇨🇲 Cameroon. I know if is football we are always there but music we leave it to Nigeria and congo😅.
Man! A lot of people are sleeping on Ethiopian music.. I'm Nigerian and I listen to it. I think it deserves a worthy mention at least for something we can't understand
This video is a vibe ❤❤
I feel like a lot of, if not most Nigerian artists create the same type of music. South Africa has a much larger variety, going so far as to create new musical genres
Not really tho buts it's easier to move one thing forward then 7 things...... that's what Nigeria is trying to do:)
