      carson 310 I keep thinking the same thing why did Toyota discontinued the TC if they had made the 2014-2016 Rwd with 250hp stock N/A it would have sell more then the FR-S and the TC looks way more cooler and Tuner status then an FR-S whenever I see a TC I think to myself I should've bought one instead of my 10th Generation Corolla XRS

    the tC is an awesome car. I STILL own the first gen, tC1 and love it. As a daily biker with my wife, the rear room is big enough for carry two bikes just by folding down the rear seats. I also bought a bunch of stud woods from Home Depot and they all fit. I can't think of another car that can easily stuff a bunch of big stuff into a vehicle like this and at this price range, style and mpg, etc. The GTI, Honda Fit, Civic, Ford Focus, Cooper, Impreza, etc.. isn't as convenient as the tC. Learn about the Honda K engine buddy. It starts breathing at 6000 rpm where the Toyota engine enters the red line. The red line of the K20Z3 is 8000 rpm. The engine sounds like a motorcycle engine after 6000 rpm when the VTEC kicks is. Also the Si has lighter weight, iirc.
      I'm saying all this, because before I got my 2014 tC I test drove a couple of Civic Si and the K20Z3 is a piece of art. However I like more the tC style and functionality - exterior and interior design, glass roof, bigger back seat and higher sealing, the engine bay is more spacious for easy wokring. Mine has also stock leather seats, navigation, start/stop button, fog lights and rear wiper, because it's the Monogram edition. (1 out of 2500 produced)

      @@aroamingjay1907 That's because it still is a Toyota. Just because It's been co-developed with another automaker (not rebadged) doesn't mean It's a rebadged car from another automaker. Toyota and Subaru co-developed the engine and platform for it (yes, the things Subaru did were WITH Toyota) and Toyota essentially developed everything else. The BRZ, fun fact, was born as a rebadged 86.
      Same story for the new Supra. Toyota ended up bringing us an amazing successor to the original Supra at an attainable cost thanks to a practical co-development strategy to face the economical offset. Toyota and BMW co-developed the engine and platform together then spent years alone separately creating their own cars with it. Not only does it still live up to the Supra name, but It's still more of a Toyota than you think it is. (and please don't ignore that the previous Supra had a Yamaha-head-designed engine with an optional German-supplied manual gearbox, with its overall engine being finished off by a German firm)
      If we were to bring a car in the "It's not a Toyota" situation, bring up the new Yaris instead? (a rebadged Mazda 2 by the way)

Might not be as fast as the civic but I like the looks better plus money saved I could turbo it and whoop a civic or speed 3 and definitely handles with the trd suspension parts amazingly truly great handling fwd car. Power is good very quick just don't expect to have your head thrown into the seats but gets up to speed and holds the road better the my 06 cobalt ss sc. Cobalt maybe faster to 60 by a small hair but doesn't have the same mid range power this car. Dare I say it's a bargain at it's base price and now more companies making upgrades for it even with full bolt ons and the uni chip tune you can see 200-220 hp at the crank which is more then enough in a small coupe( working on getting all my bolt ups done). I have a gen 2 now and the only thing that makes it better than the gen1 is the mechanical improvements.
    Makes me think they were already thinking about retiring the Scion brand ...
    What a shame .

  • @craig2web
    @craig2web Před 10 lety +9

    Nice idea, but horrible execution. This is a compact that essentially weighs as much as a mid-size, and actually gets WORSE MPG than the Camry. The easiest solution would be to re-skin the new Corolla with a 2 or 3 door body, firm up the suspension, slap a tC badge on it, and you would have a much better car. It would be hundreds of pounds lighter, handle that much better as a result, and give you decent MPG at the same time.

      So does every single car under $30,000... They all blow material-wise, complaining about interiors for this price segment is super nitpicky. I have a friend with the new Challenger and another with the Camaro and both have pretty "meh" interiors and they are more expensive than the tC..
