I am ex-forces class 2 driver from the 80's and have not driven a HGV for over 20 years, I am taking my class 1 at the end of the month and finding these types of videos extremely helpful in getting my mind back in the game. I must say that this video is by far the best one I have seen, you manage to explain everything very clearly. Thank you for taking the time to make these as they really do help.
I’ve been driving class 1 for 6 years Done a lot of different driving. But I still learned some things from this video. Very calm, informative and helpful to all of us. Thanks for taking the time to film, edit and upload.
Among all the Tutorials videos I have watched on CZcams. You are the best. Your Tips is second to none. You are really an excellent teacher indeed. Keep doing the good work.
I'm an ex class 1 myself, retired now, this is a really well informed video with beneficial tips to make life easier for any driver, calm and explained perfectly
Not a HGV driver but found this very interesting. A lot of effort and work involved in this so well done Hayley. Your career as an instructor is blossoming.
i’ve been driving class 1 for nearly 3 months now and I have picked up so much from this video wasn’t even expecting it 😅. Thank you so much you do explain it very well.
I am the typical new Class 1 driver, so this video is incredibly helpful. So good to anticipate problems and have a good idea of how to fix them. Brilliant Hayley, keep up the good work. Mark.
Hi Hayley. I start my first class 1 job on the 24th October after passing my test last November. Very helpful reminders. Thanks for your excellent tutorial 👍
Good video Haley. A note on the Shunt Button, when used the trailer has no brakes at all (not just ABS) which can be risky with a loaded trailer. All in all you have covered lots of tips that lots of us have had to learn the hard way. This video will be of great value to new starts and some experienced drivers too. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for all the help with the suspension lifting tips to attach trailer and if you have difficulty with the legs.. I didn't realise there's so much to learn after you pass your test.. your a great teacher 🎉
Great video Hayley, very clearly put together and so much of this will be so useful to so many drivers. Particularly those just starting out! Brilliant 😎
Great video Haley. The raising and lowering the air suspension was so helpful. I’ve watched and rewatched you video on reversing. You have been such a good help. 😇👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks for another superb video hayley. As you know, I'm a new driver and still learning so definitely I picked up some useful tips from this one. Looking forward to part 2. Hope to see you around the yard soon
Hayley you are awesome - I'm just looking to move from class 2 to class 1 and finding your tutorials is just the best thing, gonna watch them all before my assessment this Thursday to work for a decent company driving proper trucks whoop - wish me luck 🤩😍
That was a superb video Hayley, truly helpful. All that information is valuable to know. Your advice got me through all my initial bay reversing....."Left to bend it, right to straighten", something so simple made all the difference. Keep up the good work Hayley.
Another good one Hayley, hopefully we can expect more videos? You’ve got a very exciting career and would be great to see you running a driving school one day
Great video and lots of helpful tips . Your video on tachographs helped me get started the other day as the driver that was helping me had to do an early run , so, i used your video to get going. ( Yes new LGV Driver on his second weeks work ). Cheers Hayley 🙂
Fantastic video, have said many times you should be an instructor. You have a lovely way about you as well. Thank you for taking the time to help so many new and I suspect not so new drivers. 😊
Excellent tips Hayley wish I knew some of these when I first started! Never knew about dropping the suspension to get the fifth wheel handle out I always backed it up more against the pin! Another tip if you still can't get the legs up with everything you have said drop the mid lift this will also raise the unit to help. Great video can't wait till part 2 👍
Hi Hayley-Wow-Wow-Wow what a video. Absolutely brilliant. It's not only brilliant but its a video we can come back to time and time again to enjoy the pleasure of keeping ourselves in check and up to date, This video you may not have realised marry's up nicely with your Artic Reversing Video 👍👍. Plus knowing that someone has taken there time putting together a video like this together-Namely Trucker Hayley, Well done girl and thank you so much for all your efforts and time shared with us. So much appreciated from me Steven here in Manchester.
Cracking video this. I passed with the draw bar so I could tow anything in a class 2 and the information on the turning with the artic was interesting. You wouldn’t think you could turn round in a tighter space. Great work…Subbed.
That's bloody excellent Hayley so well explained really well done I'm sharing this with a friend who has just passed I'm sure he will find some or all of them tips helpful 👍
Thank you. I started a 10-day intensive course today aiming for class 1. These videos are so clear and unrushed, they are brilliant. You are a natural teacher.
I hayley hope you are well.thats brilliant knowledge I will watch it again and keep learning from it.i wish I could of been there to learn and to practice reversing what I have learnt from our hayley you are awesome many thanks for the info. Phil.
That was very good Hayley, ever thought about teaching......😉🤣🤣 Your approach to this was excellent and the tips were well thought out for new drivers, heck even I learnt something about that middle axle being past an obstacle then you can't hit it even on full lock, pure physics, now you've done even more of the sciences. All the best Hayley.
You are a real genius..I love what you do and how your videos is helping us wanna be a new drivers to navigate our ways out of troubles ..more of the tips ma'am ❤❤❤❤
Hey. Hayley great tutorial. One other way of releasing air instead of pumping the foot brake there is a little bung clip thing under both the rear air tanks. Hold that to the side / push it in and it releases air a lot quicker than pumping the brake. It’s also good practice in winter time to drain the air tanks this way to dispel any moisture that may be in there. I learned about this when I had a coolant leak in my air system and had to drain it every day before it got fixed.
to be honnest I thought Hayley would have mentioned the valve release, but think she is thinking of instead of walking around to the passenger side of the cab to the air tanks say like you got all your other lines attached then safest way off the cat walk is down on the drivers side, and think that is why Hayley mentioned the brake pedal instead is a lot quicker to get to than the air tanks. but there are circumstances whereby the valve release can get stuck open, so maybe another reason why she didn't mention the air valve.
Great video thanks.. Another tip if somone missed the pin by being too low. Lift up the suspension by about 6 inch and lower the trailer legs to the ground again. Then Lower the unit and you should miss the pin to get out. Handy if you are alone.
yeah agree with everything in this vlog, while mentioned a few things mentioned here, one I know I didn't was about lifting the trailer if the legs were stiff, but did mention it a while ago to another new driver after watching her struggle with the legs in a vlog (who stopped vlogging). I was wondering about modern trucks with the indicator thing, as only really worked on, and been out in the classic trucks of the 70's and 80's which had a 2nd bulb next to the main indicator that would flash for each direction. while did drive a modern S-Reg Daf (or private number plated) that was only on a runway, and only truck on the runway so no need to indicate. only thing I wasn't aware of is curtain sided trailer curtain types as never worked with them. yeah position of the trailer axle is very important when doing sharp turns like too far forward gives more of a tail swing, too far back gives less of a tail swing, that is why I said in the comment at the time to allow an extra 2 feet extra for the chance of error/caution. the number of axles can also affect the tail swing as well. but overall a good video Hayley.
I think that because you used to be a teacher that makes you really good at explaining things to people in a way they will understand
Totally agree first class teacher
