Wow, I’ve watched so many K2 docs, idk that I’ve ever saw one on the China route. But I must admit, it is the MOST BEAUTIFUL, amazingly photogenic route I’ve EVER saw! Quite breathtaking.
How is it that a mountain can be so incredibly beautiful, so extremely intimidating, so terrifying & treacherous and so tempting and prized for the elite mountaineers?
Well, the truth is K2 is all of those and more. The most magnificent mountain on planet earth!!!

Absolutely breathtaking. What I appreciated, besides the filming of such glorious views, was the respectful and gracious attitude of the filmmakers. None of the agro sports commentator vocalizations. This respect extends to all including the Chinese officials. For those of us, due to age and infirmities who will never be able to trek father than the local lake, we thank you sincerely.
What breathtakingly mesmerizing, magnificent, majestic, spectacular, superb, & tantalizingly sublime those mountainous landscapes & its sceneries are in contrast to that vivid clear blue sky!!,,,I've just struck w/ awe by those footages.,,,,It seems it also unfolds us to witness & discern how different, intriguing, & enigmatic our planet is, depending on the regions. Incidentally, the quality of air & water must be superlative, so different from the ones I have here in the urban area of the USA. Due to the above-mentioned, this nature documentary veritably grabs my undivided attention. This route is so spectacular. I have done the pakistan side and that’s epic but this one is just beyond words. True silence as you stated. How beautiful must that be. As close to nature as one can be. That beautiful silence is music like no other.
You are so lucky. One day I would love to walk and trek this path if the Chinese allow me. My dream trek this is. Always wondered what the Chinese side would be like and it’s even more spectacular then the pakistan side. It’s so untouched compared to the pakistan side.

K2 is really like no other mountains. Best kept secret. Only the best of the best try it. Let’s keep it that way and keep tourism away and pollution as Everest and its issues breaks my heart. What a beautiful time you had. Soooo lucky.
Yes agree. Pakistan side is more icy. 62 Km long Baltoro glacier covers most of the route from Askole to concordia.
You wrote what’s in my spirit too mate. From the scenery of the Karakoram to the disgust at what tourists are doing to Everest. They call it the worlds highest rubbish dump. Just so some idiots with more money than sense (& morals?) can tick Everest off their bucket list.
Imagine that you're a tourist stumbling up the K2 glacier, one of the most isolated places on the planet, and you just happen to run into Denis Urubko and his companion descending the glacier after a successful summit! What a lucky group of folks these were. I love this video, and I watch it often. Thanks for the translation and upload!
Dennis Urubko? Is there any information regarding identity of the 2 mountaineers they met on the way up in the video?
@@asokedas2977 That was most definitely Denis Urubko, and Serguey Samoilov who attempted K2's North Face in 2007. They ran into dangerous terrain high on the wall and wound-up traversing over to the Japanese route on the North Rib where they were successful in reaching the summit. He was just as surprised to see them as they were of him and Serguey!

Chinese route to K2 ( 8611 meters high ) of Karakorum Range is restricted for foreigners and requires a special permit. Muz-Darya Valley with access to northern slope of K2 came under Chinese control only in 1963 when Pakistan handed over this part of occupied Kashmir to China. Today this Valley is included to Tashkurgan-Tajik autonomous county of Kashgar Prefecture of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of People's Republic of China. Valley is uninhabited excluding of some Kyrgyz nomads that occasionally migrate here. K2 has name of "Chogori" ( Big Mountain ) in Balti language but Balti tribes could be found only in Pakistani side.

I found the bustling city center scenes of Kashghar utterly fascinating. Apart from the modern conveniences of cars, fridges, etc. it looks like the people have kept their ancient cultural way of everyday life unchanged. Very cool

K2 is located in northern province of gilgit baltistan ,not in kashmir while Azad jammu and kashmir is small part of Kashmir liberated from Hindustan by Pakistan while remaining in illegal occupation of Hindustan since 1947 which located on south eastern region of k2 🗻🌲🍁🌙🙏😢❤🌏

I trekked upto K2 base camp .... It was one of best life experience..
Everest is like a walk in the park. K2 is the king of all mountains 🏔. More people have been to space then the Summit of K2.

Actually K2 is also called chhogori in local Balti language as well which comes under Tibetan languages so you know name is similar in both sides, it's just that Westerns started calling it K2 so it became something else but in local language it's called chhogori and urdu it's called Lamba Pahar means Tall Mountain

I didn’t realize this video is only of trekking not climbing.
The other climbers 🧗♂️ looked like they have been on the mountain for a while. They were looking a bit thin. The other thing is how the hell did they get up there? The video made it look like they walked in and out.
It's not in China & Kashmir part controlled by Pakistan. It's on Border of China & Pakistan and can only be hiked from Pakistan. Nowhere it says that it's in part of Kashmir, update yourself.

K2 has never been climbed from the Chinese side due to its impossibly difficult route.
It has been climbed but only a few times. It is steeper and more exposed to harsh weather (strong winds and avalanches).

Neither part of Kashmir is not controlled by Pakistan, we liberated this land from Britishers ourselves affiliated with Pakistan. Pakistan is our home now. Please phrase it accordingly so don't manipulate history. However it's a good documentary.
K2 is not in Kashmir, Pakistan. It is in Gilgit Baltistan, Pakistan and these regions are not Pakistan occupied. Pakistan has given them the liberty to have their own PM and parliament. Yet we control them and own them with harmony and respect.
