I had a pair of Merrill moab2 non wp I thought they were very comfortable had them 2+ years the grip was excellent I never slipped I wore them as an every day shoe to work hiking walking around my neighborhood and so on I would highly recommend them if you are in a wet climate or going to be hiking/walking around water get the wp version I just recently purchased a pair of moab3 mid wp so far after a few weeks they feel comfortable traction seems very good I have not gone hiking yet but I plan to I have worn the boots at work and around town no problems so far

I have actually been looking at picking up a pair of the non wp moab mids for a bit of hiking I will be doing in the south west. How was the ventilation in yours?

I had very different experiences with my 3 pairs so far (1 mid vent, 1 low vent and 1 low waterproof).
I run a mowing business and while the low top versions of these are very comfortable, I found the mid to be uncomfortable almost like I'd think a high heel shoe would feel, and they are basically new in my closet. I also found the waterproof low to be a bit tighter but held it's shape perfectly over time while the vent version seemed to spread and sag.
Thanks for the review! Haha as always, milage may vary. 👍

Moab 3 Edge Wide Width; just tried to leave a review for these on the Merrell site, in response to an email they sent asking for a review. Funny, I bought another different pair of boots I just reviewed BEFORE I bought my Moabs, but they did not allow me to post my Moab review due to expiration (hmmm)...only purchased in Feb, but they allowed me to post for the other boot. Fact is, the Moabs are DANGEROUS!!! Not only because of the terrible laces do not tighten due to the lace material and come undone constantly (with cranked double knots), but the Vibram (?) sole HAS NO GRIP under damp conditions. I bought my Moabs specifically for a trip to the UK and "Vibram sole", and held on for my life while walking the ramparts around Conway Castle when others in sneakers had no issues. Worst boot I've ever purchased, and now have no confidence in both Merrell and this crappy dumb-down Vibram sole. Sorry Merrell, I was a 40 year fan...no more.

That's rough and unacceptable. When it comes to reviews left on company site, I've had such mixed experience that it doesn't surprise me you struggled to post your review. It's a shame considering that's where most people look for information about their product, but get the least amount of actual customer feedback information. I haven't yet had any experience with the Moab 3, but it sounds like it's a good idea to buy another pair of the 2 before they're all gone.

Thank you for the review! Could you also share how long it takes for the shoes to dry if water gets inside or after washing? That would be really helpful.

I don't have a specific time, but mine were dry within 4hrs last time I washed them. That is just sitting in a 70 degrees F house during the winter with the insoles removed from the shoe.

    Are these true to size?

    • @Nathan_Adams

I would say they are close, but a little on the big and wider size. Not enough to size down, but they are roomy for their printed size

I really don’t like the way the fabric bunches up by the toe. Keens do not do that. I like both brands but it is kinda a deal breaker for me.

With footwear it is so important to try it on and use it before making a purchasing decision because there are so many little quirks that can change how a shoe fits or feels. I am glad you found the right boot for you.
