Awesome boots, great laces, great insoles, extremely stable, good on slippery rocks, great for long backpacking hikes.
I got these back in 2018 for hiking and i started using them for mountain biking as well in Arizona ... Still running strong ..
My son's top pick for all around comfort.
Thank you for the info.
Good choice!
I have found these cut for a “high-volume” foot rather than simply a wide foot. I have a wide, low-volume foot. I appreciate the extra space for my toes and the ball of my foot, but this last, plus the simple lacing setup provides less lateral support. Very comfortable for light hiking.
I just bought a used pair of these on eBay
What this guy doesn't tell you is that these are very popular with the U.S. Military Spec Ops Community and have been a go to boot of choice for many years. I have many pairs but they do not run true to size as he claims. They run 1/2 size small and require me to get a 11.5 D when I wear a 11 D in every other brand and type of boots and shoes you can imagine except Nike which also run 1/2 size small on me. I needed a 11.5 D in Nike sneakers when I used to wear them in the past. I have switched to New Balance USA made in the USA since then. I have about 75 pairs of boots and shoes from every brand you can imagine. They are combat/tactical, cowboy, work, casual, hiking/outdoor, sneakers etc etc. I wouldn't give up any of my Merrell Moab Ventilators for any amount of money. When you need a lightweight boot like this they can't be beat and are perfect.
What color are these boots?
These are very durable and like their name - well ventilated boots. I've bought 2 pairs in the last 6-7 yrs. And I've used them for all types of terrain - from hiking at around my home on Oahu, the other islands to trails on both sides of the continental US. In dry and hot locations, they're perfect with heat evaporation. Kept my feet relatively cool and dry. I wear wide also and they fit nicely. The only problem I have is the traction - from my experiences, they do not grip well on loose dirt, gravel, or wet rocks. I bought another brand, the salomon x ultra 4 mid wide, and they provide better traction in those conditions. I'm still using them for drier hikes, but for more technical trails, I use the Salomons.
I just got a pair for 50$ on Amazon. Always wait for a sale
They are fake on Amazon read any review
merrell used to be way better before wolverine bought the company. I switched to oboz, I feel they are better quality at the same price point..
thanks for sharing your opinion. We'll be reviewing some Oboz models in the future.
I had a couple pairs, and one lasted about a year, and the other didn't last near as long as the eyelets tore out, and stitching started to come apart after about 6 months.
Do you think you did about the same miles in each pair?
How much do you weigh? 100?200?300?
@@errorsofmodernism7331 200, I'd guess I'm putting 6 to 8 hours of hiking a week on my boots.
USSOCOM uses these boots and have for a long time. They are a favorite and always come up in conversations.

They usually last a full deployment in country before needing replaced. That is completely acceptable and adequate given the modest $120 price tag. If you want "bulletproof" you need to double or triple that price tag going for White's and Danner.
I have 3 pair, thats how much ai like rhem.
I had a chunk come off the sole of mine while hiking. IMHO these are no longer a real hiking boot. My older ones held up good until the i wore the tread off the soles, the new ones fell apart.
They never say what they’re made of. I’ve heard “action leather”. I’ve heard “pig leather”. They’re faux leather from China. Not that they’re bad. I’d have preferred real leather.
