This Glider Crashed today, haven't been able to find yet it but I expect it to be destroyed.
TheRattleSnake3145 noooo it was so beautiful I am trying to make my own and is was looking again for som ideas
TheRattleSnake3145 have u already found it?
Floris Heuperman will have a look again tomorrow, it landed in very thick Mangrove trees and the tide was in at the time. I was walking in waist deep water muddy water in mangroves that thick it was about 5 -10 meters visability at points. Looked for about 1 hr but figured it landed in water so not much chance of finding anything usable.
I’m sorry buddy, what happened?
I think some kind of turbulence causing a tip stall, when I pulled out of it the wings couldn't handle the g's and one broke. Looked for it for around 6 hrs total and after the 3rd attempt (2 weeks later) it was found. much less damage than I expected. The wings have been strengthened and it has now been fully repaired. recovering has almost been finished, then I just need to reinstall new electronics as it was out in the weather for 2 weeks and I don't trust it even if it seems to be working fine.
I'm not a modeller but I find this video so inspiring. What a beautiful looking plane too, I was shocked to see your "I expect it to be destroyed" and that it ended up lost in a swamp and so glad to see that it survived! I look forward to seeing more footage of it. Thanks very much.
Impressionant! Little wing load and great gliding capacity---Perfect Finish
I used to build models with my dad years ago and want to make one now. This is the best tutorial I have ever seen on CZcams and beautiful model
What a glider !!! great to see old school building !! warms me heart !!!
dude, that is fruckin awesome... brings back memories of building with my dad as a kid... that covering job is cool... looks like a bunch of solar panels
thanks!
Wow what an excellent flying plane. Great build. That thing friggin floats!
beautifully built and covered.
Beautiful build. Thank you for sharing.
Amazing craftsmanship, thanks for sharing.
mate that is frankly an awesome bit of workmanship, totally impressed ..
Great build tnx robin
Dude that is beautiful, seriously hats off and thanks for sharing!
Thankyou, sadly it crashed today and still haven't found it. If I do find it I expect it to be destroyed.
Such a clean work, well done!
wow. great video edit and gorgeous plane. loved the maiden toss. perfection.
lots of satisfaction when you see something you create working as you intended.
damn mate, that was a beauty, test throw was stunning, and a nice build vid.
What a wonderful machine. A thing of beauty.
Just amazed by your work
That's a beautiful build. Thanks for sharing. The copper color and the blue osmokote are a great color scheme.
Thanks!
Great instructional video. Thanks for sharing!
amazing fuselage from balsa. great colours!
+Wernerrrrr Thanks. After I uploaded this I realised I forgot to shop the bottom, which is black instead of metalic copper.
Wow!! beautiful job and a fantastic finish.
You obviously took your time and care during the build and it shows.
Well done. 👍
thanks!
Excellent craftsmanship. Floats perfectly without the motor.
Jason Jackson thanks for your kind words.
Hats off to u bro that was AMAZING! But seriously that was really good.
Very inspiring build with Great Tips, Very well though out design Huge thumbs up in spades
Beautiful build
It glides really well. Nice wing design. This thing might be able to sustain on solar power with a few panels fitted on the wing.
Excellent build. You've got skills.
Fantastic build! Beautiful.
thanks!
Stunning build fella.
Nice video and top effort on the glider...which I will call the RK.
Love your videos , such a great builder .
+Scott Thompson Thanks, Im always building something. At the moment im building an air/swamp boat.
Awesome build
Beautiful work.
Thankyou!
Oh my god that thing is so stable unbelievable, it beats fluid drag.
So cool stuff your design is also very good.
Very nice build my friend. Looks like a hell of a floater.
thanks, and it is!
thanks, and it is!
well done! Its so good, I thought it would just fly away at the test throw :)
great job! what an amazing glider! :)
thank you!
very nice work!!!
Mate, very nice. Maybe I don't have to buy a Gentle Lady or Bird of Time, just make my own.
At our club, Logan, the guys kill their own Radians. Three major crashes in the past two weeks and two fly away's in the past six weeks. Yikes ....
Great to see you got her back. Keep up the great work.
Really good job
Beautiful and I’m a true fan of balsa but it’s only from a lack of understanding of the modern hobby to think this would come even close to the radian in terms of popularity and sales - folk don’t build anymore, they can’t even fly without complex stabilisation and airframes they can dispose of and replace with “just 2 screws”
That is a thing of beauty
Great share, thanks. Not everything needs to be an ARF, nice replication of characteristics. Wing looks bigger than 2m, though.
beautiful job.
.Very fine workmanship.
Flies pretty sweet too.
Hats off to ya laddie. :)
Thanks!
nice build bro
Beautiful aircraft.
Excellent video and a great test flight - congratulations.
Funnily enough the tip I really liked (and may well 'steal') is using 4mm bullet connectors for anti wing rotation. I think they may also make neat hatch retainers, helped by my usual small magnets.
Thanks, mine were 3.5mm bullets, Don't forget to tape the wings on :P
Well done, very nice build.
+RCHELIBUG Thanks, already on to my next build now.
Very nice build and vid. Liked and subbed man. Cool
looks very professional!
thanks, I've definitely improved since my first plane.
it's sooooo good!
love it
i thought the purple coverings were solar panels.
you should do a solar plane
Love to see a set of PDF plans, Great job!!!
+Kevin Matney I only have what I drew up sorry.
That`s a nice piece of design and workmanship. Seems to fly OPK too!!
Thanks.
Excellent!! It always amazes me when I come across a channel like this after so many years of balsa search history have gone by. No YT, I don’t wanna see this guy just killin’ it in the wind, I’d rather you suggest Dr. Pimple Popper. Subbed and added to the “Why the hell am I unsubscribed?” Checklist.
i love this thing!
Buen trabajo de Aeromodelismo.... Saludos
That's just beautiful ...
thanks!
Great Job
Any plans or at least some measuring moments so I can reproduce this model plan ? Amazing craftsmanship and awesome flight performance. Thank you for any feedback.
amazing build dude!!! greetings from Italy.. i subscribe your channel !!
Nice job
Nice work man.. Haven't seen an upload from you in a while. Looks like a dream to fly
+DCVINRC Thanks. Yea, been slack lately. I have 2 more scratch builds I could put up when the stuff is edited also a CL-84 tilt wing VTOL I'm keen to film, just waiting on good weather.
handles just as I was hoping.
Amazing.
well done.
Terrific build! Thanks for sharing. Always interesting to see how someone else dose it. I especially liked how you used the electrical connector for the wing position. I hope you don't' mind if I steel your idea! LOL
Don't forget to tape the wings on :P
Thanks man you gave some idea for my wing joiner using bullet connector
Make sure you tape the wing on with a low adhesive tape, the connector itself isn't enough to hold it on. just peel the tape off when you want to pack up.
Don't forget to use some tape to hold them on!
Nice build! What carbon tube are you using?
Beautiful!
Thanks!
How did you find the perfect wing shape? Beautiful plane!
beautiful
Good job, I like this video.
thanks .
Nice work.any plans / charts ?
great job!
thanks!
Do you get lighter planes out of balsa or out of foam?
That's a brilliant floater, what are the rough dimensions of it, such as wingspan, wing chord and lengths, thanks ?
Thanks, Wingspan 2530cm Fuse length 1340cm wing cord 27cm
how i can download the plan for this aircraft??
Did you post your build on RC Groups ? i am guessing your wing root chord is 8 inches ? i am Most interested in your Leading edge shape of the wing , its very hard to tell from the video but i am guessing you are shaping the LE to achieve a more modern air foil ?? any little tid bit of info on that would be most Awesome
Beautiful glider! Any chance you will offer plans?
AWESOME. that's so smooth. can i get the the lines plan? i wanna build one.
Can you give me all the technical specifications of how much material is composed this model and how many ribs consists wing.
cool were can i get the plans for this build
never knew i could make a wing just like that
it looks amazing. can you show how you covered the wings in another video?
hello, I have a video titled "balsa wing covering tips"
on my channel that will help you.
Excelent work
thank you!
Loved watching this video and the great flight characteristics. What wing profile did you use? I'd like to try this one out.
+Brad Dixon I cant think of the exact one off the top of my head but it was definitely a thermal soaring foil.
nice build. it's beautiful and glide really smooth, what airfoil did you use?
and Thanks for sharing
hello, I used an SD7037 thermal soaring foil.
Wow...I wonder what the glide ratio is!
Perfect
respect guy
awesome I thought you were gonna throttle up then lol great job
thanks.
nice job mate
Thanks!
Amazing plane!!! Could you please make a video with all the dimensions so I could build a mini chuck version.
it's a fairly simple design so I suggest that you try your own design, you will have more fun and get much more satisfaction seeing something that you have designed and built flying well.
Awsome 5 stars +
Nice work. How do you cut consistent, smooth round cuts in the ribs which house the support tubes?
+LSUtiger607 using the jig hole as a start point, I used one of the carbon rods to mark a circle then cut/sanded it out from one of the ribs. then I used that rib as a hole template for the other ribs.
sweet glider, have u got the plans u could share, cheers graham
Holy schmoli! What a beautiful job you did! From scratch!!! One thing I don’t get is why you’d put such cheap/garbage servos in such a fine bird?
