    Living Traditions Homestead put up a double fence (not electrified) around their garden/orchard a couple years ago & they run their laying hens & ducks in-between the two. Have a great day 😊.

      And they just mentioned how they have no deer getting into their orchard. The chickens and ducks keep the grass down so they do not have to mow it. Neat fence.

    Word of warning, this system is AMAZING we used another companies product that was just like this over 30 years ago and LOVED IT. Just don't ever crawl thru the fence by pushing down the grounded wire while you have a set of metal pliers in your back pocket. I guarantee that they will make contact with the top hot wire and you will bounce back and forth for a minute or two. Also always make sure the ends of your spring gates are not cracked or broken, they will blink your eyes on occasion if they are. Aluminum cans with honey or something sweet in them hung on the fence also work well. This is an amazing system and with a lot less maintenance than either a woven wire fence or a 3 or 5 wire barb wire fence. We were able to keep bulls off cows in heat with this system and they weren't across the ranch they were in adjacent pastures. Great Job and God bless

      Ditto. Other DIY project using electrified tape. Keeps deer out.
      Last fall the tape came down for garden maintenance. It went back up the next day. Overnight the local deer purged anything worth eating.

    Heartwarming to see that green in the pastures! Great fence. I have a friend that had terrible problems with deer...she had a 6' fence around her garden. She put up the 3-D fence and never had trouble again. Hers was not electrified and she used chicken wire on the bottom part of both fences (inside and out). She ran her chickens and ducks through the middle of the 2 fences...called it her "chicken moat". Kept the chickens in and the deer out!

    We have seen a deer leg caught in two barb wires that twisted on the deer leg. The deer was long gone. We spoke to a Wildlife Officer. He said that it happens fairly often. A coyote comes across an easy meal. We saw a calf moose get wrapped up in a few strands of barb wire. We were sitting in a truck having lunch. We were coming up with a strategy when it broke free. The mother moose was certainly relieved of much stress. . . . We were as well. Your new fence sounds interesting. Thank you for posting. 😊

    @BekaertFencing Před 2 lety +2

    Wow, not sure if we can top that video intro. Looks like It's a Van takeover on the channel today! In teh video today Van is building a 3D fence to keep deer out of a future garden. The fence will use several lines of our 12.5 ga High Tensile Smooth Wire; some lines are electrified while others are not. This fence is a psychological barrier against wildlife. As Van mentions, deer do not have a depth perception and therefore when they encounter a 3D fence such as this one they won't know how to clear the multiple off-set lines of fence. This type of fence is a bit different from the Solidlock Game Fence we built for Erin last year with a more economical price tag. Let us know if you have any questions and we'll be happy to answer them for you. ~ The Fence Pros

  • @wileecoyote1751
    @wileecoyote1751 Před 2 lety

    Once I understood that deer have no depth perception and Van & Mike showed the top wires from the height of a deer's head, the 3D fencing made perfect sense. As well as financial sense.

  • @jwenting
    @jwenting Před 2 lety +2

    3D fences work, they're used a lot here to keep wildlife away from roads (not electrified, but still effective) where taller fences would be impractical.

    The 3 D fence is cool. It is an electric version of the two fence idea that I have seen on another CZcams channel. They already had an outside fence around the area that they wanted to protect and then they added another fence about 4 feet inside that outer fence, which created a moat area for their chickens and ducks . The two fences created that same type of effect for deer, protecting their orchard and garden that is inside both of the fences.

    Should make easier gate if wife having to go through that. I'd put in a mesh deer proof gate with orange flagging on the top. Can run the electric wire under ground across that section to carry the shock. I've done something like that for a horse gate & electric fencing. Can make something smaller - at least make real gate for a walk through person or to drive through a smaller thing. If need to drive truck through, then can use the big electric wire section. I'd not want to deal with 6 long wires just to move in and out of an area.

I was always concerned whether they were working or not until I got a light to attach to each fence system. I can see where the gates might be a pain. Otherwise, it’s an interesting concept.

    I have seen this type of system before only they used field fence for both inside and outside fences then used the space between the fences for a chicken run.

    That's pretty cool fencing... I was hoping for a mannequin demonstration once the electric fence was turned on... thanks Mike

    Awesome video and fencing products! Really like how they design the fence with livestock and wildlife behaviors in mind (lack of depth perception, etc.). Looking forward to seeing it and also see what y’all come up with for the feed lot section. And BTW your intro and music are on point!! Great job all!!

    Warn Lincoln not to take a "whiz" on the electric fence. . . . Mind you, if he forgets, he will only do it once.

    You can have Jeff dress as a deer and wander around acting like he’s touched the fence. He can fall down and kick his legs screaming “ I’m cooking touched the electricity. Like the guy they used to practice the electric chair in the movie The Green Mile

    WOW very interesting system! Gate size is great for moving equipment in n out but for just 1 person going in n workin I wonder if having the gate latches on a moveable freestanding pole would make more sense? Just move the pole over as much as you need, pop in n work, everything is still connected n easy peesy
