Ok, this has been my favorite channel for a few years now. But now that you just used Van Halen in your video, you have just cemented yourselves in the #1 spot for life!!
Thanks Mario! Glad ya liked it

Van did an great job explaining Electric fencing
@@henry7765 !Love
Living Traditions Homestead put up a double fence (not electrified) around their garden/orchard a couple years ago & they run their laying hens & ducks in-between the two. Have a great day 😊.
And they just mentioned how they have no deer getting into their orchard. The chickens and ducks keep the grass down so they do not have to mow it. Neat fence.
Kevin had had to mow that strip. He showed it being done and mentioned the name of the machine. A few episodes ago The chickens and ducks don't keep the grass down.
Word of warning, this system is AMAZING we used another companies product that was just like this over 30 years ago and LOVED IT. Just don't ever crawl thru the fence by pushing down the grounded wire while you have a set of metal pliers in your back pocket. I guarantee that they will make contact with the top hot wire and you will bounce back and forth for a minute or two. Also always make sure the ends of your spring gates are not cracked or broken, they will blink your eyes on occasion if they are. Aluminum cans with honey or something sweet in them hung on the fence also work well. This is an amazing system and with a lot less maintenance than either a woven wire fence or a 3 or 5 wire barb wire fence. We were able to keep bulls off cows in heat with this system and they weren't across the ranch they were in adjacent pastures. Great Job and God bless
Ditto. Other DIY project using electrified tape. Keeps deer out.
Last fall the tape came down for garden maintenance. It went back up the next day. Overnight the local deer purged anything worth eating.
I'm imagining the pliers dance 🕺😂
@@elizabethphillips4334 It was rather comical, my husband had been moving water tanks and to complete the perfect storm he was wet as well. Lasted for a minute but seemed soooo much longer. I wanted to laugh but didn't dare.... til later.
Oh my Goodness!!! That opening was EPIC!!!
Thank you, appreciate that.
Keith taught Van well. I'm really impressed Bekaert fencing and I'm glad they are a partner with the channel. The gates reminds me of either trampoline springs or a giant slinky
Exactly
Learning from thes best makes it that much easier.
Nice to see all the green grass in background, hope you get more rain.
Thanks Mike, it is great seeing things green up. I hope we get some more rain also.
@@OurWyomingLife Here on the Washington coast we have had a miserable winter. January we had around 15 inches of rain, with that also comes high winds. Seeing your rain worries I see light at the end of the tunnel as I know a lot of that moisture will make its way to Wyoming. Knowing your worries I don’t mind the rain.😎
Heartwarming to see that green in the pastures! Great fence. I have a friend that had terrible problems with deer...she had a 6' fence around her garden. She put up the 3-D fence and never had trouble again. Hers was not electrified and she used chicken wire on the bottom part of both fences (inside and out). She ran her chickens and ducks through the middle of the 2 fences...called it her "chicken moat". Kept the chickens in and the deer out!
Living in Wyoming it’s hard to keep the wildlife out of the gardens and yards..,
I loved the intro! Another CZcams I follow, Living Traditions Homestead, recently installed a double fence similar to yours. They free range their chickens in the inner area and call it “the chicken moat”!
Way back I've been hit by capacitance discharge smooth wire hooked to a car battery. Only ever touch that once! Talking 40 years ago ! Kept sheep in very nicely. And it was all temporary fencing. But the shock it delivered was no joke! 0
We have seen a deer leg caught in two barb wires that twisted on the deer leg. The deer was long gone. We spoke to a Wildlife Officer. He said that it happens fairly often. A coyote comes across an easy meal. We saw a calf moose get wrapped up in a few strands of barb wire. We were sitting in a truck having lunch. We were coming up with a strategy when it broke free. The mother moose was certainly relieved of much stress. . . . We were as well. Your new fence sounds interesting. Thank you for posting. 😊
This fence company has thought of everything. Sounds great if it works like it should. Ingenious
Totally a great fence company!!! Thank you Beckhart fencing!!!!
Super nice Folks to come out a Fix you and Erin's Garden Fence 🙌🐦.
JO JO IN VT 💕😄
The American Farmer - the backbone an hero of America 🇺🇸
Van might be "the new guy", but he really knew his product well!! Good job, Van!! 👍 Erin was right about going ahead & turning it on 👍
Van totally does. Thanks for watching
Van may be new to us but he has been in the business for quite a while. He is our electric fence expert for sure.
The song used for the intro is so suiting. And one of my favorite songs from my partying days.
Its a great song for sure! Glad ya liked it.
Lol...Jeff is a hoot. Like the new fence. Hope it works well for ya'll. So glad to have ya'll back. ❤
Wow, that deer fence was a lot easier to put up. Looking forward on hearing how it works for you 👍
We are too 😉
Deer jump over & Antelope go THROUGH & under fence! Hope y'all got some of that rain earlier today! Just as hubs got out of his P/U & walked into the garage [that is full of my car, his Jalapeños & Anaheim Peppers & his 19 tomato plants] it started just pouring! Nice looking fence by the way!
Wow, not sure if we can top that video intro. Looks like It's a Van takeover on the channel today! In teh video today Van is building a 3D fence to keep deer out of a future garden. The fence will use several lines of our 12.5 ga High Tensile Smooth Wire; some lines are electrified while others are not. This fence is a psychological barrier against wildlife. As Van mentions, deer do not have a depth perception and therefore when they encounter a 3D fence such as this one they won't know how to clear the multiple off-set lines of fence. This type of fence is a bit different from the Solidlock Game Fence we built for Erin last year with a more economical price tag. Let us know if you have any questions and we'll be happy to answer them for you. ~ The Fence Pros
Once I understood that deer have no depth perception and Van & Mike showed the top wires from the height of a deer's head, the 3D fencing made perfect sense. As well as financial sense.
3D fences work, they're used a lot here to keep wildlife away from roads (not electrified, but still effective) where taller fences would be impractical.
Interesting fence idea! Take the dollar Jeff!
Im still awaiting his reply.
hmmm.....Jeff, I would hold out for $5!
That looks great .Great job on picking that kind of fence out.
Looks real interesting! The kids will love opening and closing the gate! I love seeing all the green grass in the distance!
Fencing can be hard sometimes, but you make it look Great!!!!!!!
I'd bet David Lee Roth back in his youth could have jumped those fences. lol Can't wait to see how this works out. It really looks great!
We love Keith, and we love Van now, too! He did a fabulous job explaining and installing! Great guy! Super video!
Thank you for the kind words
We agree! Van is our electric fence expert!
Well, I have seen the moat fencing before, similar but different too. That one has woven wire and is similar in the configuration, it seems to work well, so I will be interested in how yours turns out. Those guys from Bekaert Fencing knows what there doing, I've seen them before, they do a really nice job on their fencing. Thanks for sharing Mike, I hope you all have a great week.🚜
Thank-you for the kind words. Our guys take a lot of pride in their fence projects, we're glad you recognize the same thing.
My first time hearing about 3D fence but looking forward to it.
Stay tuned, we will keep everyone updated on how it working for us
Another great video! The new 3-D fence looks awesome! Keep us posted on how it works to keep the deer out! Until your next video ~~~ Stay safe, healthy and happy! 🐃
I’ve used those gates. They worked well for livestock. No matter how often you tell some folks that they are hot, someone has to test them. The horses could feel the electric from a short distance, though. They, too, had to test. Only once, though.
21:20 I love this explanation. The Volts shock you but it’s the amps the kill you. Mr. Van does a good job explaining. You learn something new every day on OWL
I can’t wait to see what’s going to happen Mike good luck
Opening was Spectacular Mike!
Thanks Cyndy
Awesome pics of the deer 🦌. Tennessee man fencing. We are from Tennessee. I have never heard oof them. Thanks so much for sharing. Great video. God bless ❤ My Wyoming Life Family.
Thanks for watching Donna
Hopefully our paths will cross in Tennessee one day thanks for watching
I love what y’all are doing to the ranch and how y’all working with others companies to make y’all dreams come true and please tell your mother law hi and I hope she is having a great time with the grandkids and being retired
Hi Mike & Erin, this was a great video,I really like the new fence.I just smiled at the intro, the music was awesome.😀Have a great week & thank you for sharing your Wyoming life.Awesome! 🌷
Thanks Linda glad you like the video. Have a good week also.
The 3 D fence is cool. It is an electric version of the two fence idea that I have seen on another CZcams channel. They already had an outside fence around the area that they wanted to protect and then they added another fence about 4 feet inside that outer fence, which created a moat area for their chickens and ducks . The two fences created that same type of effect for deer, protecting their orchard and garden that is inside both of the fences.
Living Traditions Homestead.
Van is from my neck of the woods in the mountains of east Tennessee!!!👍 It sure is greening up nicely out there Mike! BTW, that was a perfect intro song!!!🦌Jump!!! Loved it!!!
That's a really neat fence an gate.
I agree it sure is.
I can’t believe those 18 V tools still work 😁
Another well-deserved 👍 in Your Wyoming Life!
I watch another channel that uses this set up, except no electric, around his orchard and he said he hasn't had any deer since he started. I love your channel.
iF you ever follow any other Homesteads, try LIVING TRADITIONS HOMESTEAD. Last year, they put in a double fence, similar to what you have.....Check then out!!! Great looking space!!! Lets hope this detracts all the deer! Bev in Maine
Van Halen jump and deer doesn't get any better than that!!🤣 Thank you I needed that ☺️
We do this for bear fencing. I did not know it also worked for deer.
Congratulations! Best decision!
Nice fence! Although I agree with Erin's first statement "I have to open all of these"... I wouldn't like that, but I'm sure I'd get used to it. Welcome Van
Erin wont mind after she realizes that there is no unwanted visitors in her garden.
Look forward to see how the fence works when the garden is growing.
Us too Guy.
Love your videos you guys are good and keep up the good work thanks for sharing
Your welcome Austin, and thanks for watching.
VERY Interesting Vlog Mike...
I think ERIN will really enjoy this 3D fencing to save her veggie crop...
Thank you for sharing 🙏❤️💙💖💖💙🤗✝️
As always great video with shocking music to the beginning! Really? Never knew you listened to rock too. 👍
Bekaert Fencing pulls through with another great project!!
We're always looking for new topics in fencing to cover. Something new this time!
What a wonderful fence. It will be great to see it working and to keep out all wild life from all the hard work Aaron does with her garden.
The springs are great we've used them for horses, only some foals were smart enough to roll right on under it.. Their rugs catching on the fence not even bothering them. Don't put no coats on those cows.. 😉😉
Thats some fence,1 I've never seen before ,but I'm I'm the UK. Looks great 👍 let's hope it keeps the wildlife out.thanks for another cracking video.
Deer fencing we ended up putting up 10' chain link around our veggie garden. Now I wish would have done this. The neighbors tease about prison fence garden.
The intro was just great :D
Glad ya liked it
Fence looks awesome. Aaron said the same as I thought about the gate. And it will keep people out to. Where I am we have to put electric deware signs up on our fence. My father use to take a hold of the live fence(rubber boots on of course) and shook hands with us kids. And we use to get the shock and he didn't. Or he would hold our hand and then touch the fence and we got it. Loved the intro. Smart come back from Jeff with the dollar deal. God Bless you and your family and Jeff and his family.
Love the intro Mike. Huge Van Halen fan. Did Van ever explain how cows will view the spring gate? BTW, you make "fencing" interesting. Great job dude.
Van is a great guy and builds a pretty good fence!
Very informative channel. Plus I Love your license plate collection.
i like that setup may have to try it they like my roses plus my garden. cant send them to freezer camp till fall
Should make easier gate if wife having to go through that. I'd put in a mesh deer proof gate with orange flagging on the top. Can run the electric wire under ground across that section to carry the shock. I've done something like that for a horse gate & electric fencing. Can make something smaller - at least make real gate for a walk through person or to drive through a smaller thing. If need to drive truck through, then can use the big electric wire section. I'd not want to deal with 6 long wires just to move in and out of an area.
Hi Mike, We have two electric fence systems , one for deer surrounding the garden and one around the horse paddock. I was always concerned whether they were working or not until I got a light to attach to each fence system. They have red LED lights that flash each time the fence clicks and are visible quite a ways after dark. Tractor Supply or Amazon has them. Interesting design and concept. Happy new fence.
The gate as is would ok for tractor or other equipment but would recommend a smaller more convenient gate for like wheel barrow or gator when checking on or picking produce
Hope it works for you guys poor Jeff he is going to think on that one God bless you guys and stay safe 🙏 ❤
Interesting fence. Looking to see how it works.
Great sure hope it keeps deer out
US too.
It is going to look good .I just hope Eirn will love it .I know it is so bad if you work so hard and plant your garden and the deer eat all of it.That would make me want to eat them . I know she will love to be able to see what and how pretty her garden is when it starts growing .It makes the work worth it .I have a little garden so I can't see me letting a deer eat it all So good luck on the garden .I will be watching to see your garden growing.I hope you video it so we can see it I love to see other people garden. That Eirn for the work you do to help.Great job.
Great video the 3d fence is cool
You ALL Are Awesome !!!!!!!!!
Nice addition to the farm. Looks great. Hope it works well.
Thanks Scott.
LOL, I DON'T PARTICULARLY LIKE THE GATE PART, MAKES IT A PAIN TO GET IN AND OUT, BUT IT LOOKS INTERESTING. GOOD LUCK ERIN.
Great job!! That should do the trick!! Don't do it Jeff!!!! So funny!!!
I have a small electric fence for my chickens, i cannot even tell you how many times I have gotten zapped. Lol
Fence seems to be working - I didn't see any deer in the garden.
LOL So far so good!
That type of fencing works well for deer prevention
How about a dollar and some ice cream, Jeff? LOL
Thanks for sharing, Van and Mike.
LOL The ice cream just may have did the trick!
Always a great intro, video, music and educational. Love the new fence. I have been having issues with woodchucks and deer in my garden. This fence would be awesome.
Thank you Our Wyoming Life for taking us on your journey.
Denise Thank you for watching! That and raccoons is what I use the fence for. For the smaller animals you may want to add a four strand on the outer fence.
Nice! Sure chuckled at the intro! LOL. I had seen a permanent structure built this way using page wire and they are quite happy with it. Will be interesting to see if this works. That gate though - could make a person sick with it moving around! LOL.
Very nice job!👍🏽😀❤️🇺🇸
My dad used to test the electric fence by grabbing it
You talked about touching the fence, and all I could think of was the movie "A Christmas Story" when he gets his tongue frozen to the pole. I could imagine touching your tongue to the wire. OUCH.
Mike you should be the man and touch the fence so Erin sees you'll be ok.
Great video. Is the spring gate electrified?
Have a great evening.
love this fence
Very cool, will be interesting to see what happens.
Jeff's like you want me to do what for a 💵 !😆😅🤣
I can see where the gates might be a pain. Otherwise, it’s an interesting concept.
I have seen this type of system before only they used field fence for both inside and outside fences then used the space between the fences for a chicken run.
Check out Living Traditions Chicken moat/deer fence!
That's pretty cool fencing... I was hoping for a mannequin demonstration once the electric fence was turned on... thanks Mike
Come on Jeff, touch the fence!
Awesome video and fencing products! Really like how they design the fence with livestock and wildlife behaviors in mind (lack of depth perception, etc.). Looking forward to seeing it and also see what y’all come up with for the feed lot section. And BTW your intro and music are on point!! Great job all!!
Warn Lincoln not to take a "whiz" on the electric fence. . . . Mind you, if he forgets, he will only do it once.
Only once!
Awsome intro
Glad ya liked it.
You can have Jeff dress as a deer and wander around acting like he’s touched the fence. He can fall down and kick his legs screaming “ I’m cooking touched the electricity. Like the guy they used to practice the electric chair in the movie The Green Mile
Hell, I don’t even have property and I want to buy this fence.
Now that's the spirit!
damn that's something totally different I have never heard of anything like that but it makes sense we will see the boss will let you know good video God bless our Wyoming life❤😊😊
WOW very interesting system! Gate size is great for moving equipment in n out but for just 1 person going in n workin I wonder if having the gate latches on a moveable freestanding pole would make more sense? Just move the pole over as much as you need, pop in n work, everything is still connected n easy peesy
I saw the title and said, "Patty!" out loud
