If all that did not do the trick, check if disabling HDR in the Roku settings sorts out the error 020. Moreover, if you are using an AVR (like a Yamaha AVR), check if enabling Full Bandwidth in the AVR settings clears out the error 020. Try another TV that supports HDCP, if possible. If you are using a computer monitor, try using a TV that supports HDCP, if possible. If you are seeing the "HDCP Error Detected" message or purple screen for the first time after setting up your Roku player, ensure that your TV and/or AVR or soundbar supports HDCP. Review online documentation for each device, or contact the equipment manufacturer for more information.
The Roku is trash, the 1st method is the only one that works and I have to do it every time to get it to work. Constantly reconnecting cables and powering stuff of is absolutely ridiculous. Changing settings doesn't fix the issue.
I tried every single one of your "fixes." None worked. I tried the alternate fixes in the comments below. Same message. I tried disconnecting and reconnecting power cables and HDMI and even new a new HDMI cable. Could be coincidence, but this started about three days after I cancelled my Xfinity cable. Roku was working perfectly for over a year before that.
THANK YOU THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!!!! 😌. It finally works now :) . I had to follow your guide to going to the settings at the very last part of the video. I was getting so irritated until now I can watch my shows :) . Definitely subscribing thanks again 😘😘😘
@@NoLieIm51Bad news for you. Yes, the setting change is on the Roku; I changed display type to manual:1080p. It worked, but only temporarily. the roku would change back to Auto and cause the error-screen, again and again. I'd have to go back to settings constantly. It seems older HDMI TVs have a problem with roku's new firmware. I attached the Roku to a newer TV, and the roku works fine.
The opposite of method 4 also works. I deselected auto detect and manually selected the display type for my TV and the picture came up and error went away.
My case is a lil different, my TV only support 1080p but I choose 4K in Roku display type settings, after changing back to 1080p in Roku settings everything works fine, I guess the cable came with Roku was a problem, gonna replace that in the future when I switch to a 4K tv
FYI...on my 2008 Vizio LCD (model # vo47l fhdtv10a), the Roku Ultra will only work on HDMI ports 1 and 2. Apparently, HDMI ports 3 and 4 do NOT support HDCP. I was getting the same error as you on HDMI ports 3 and 4.
My issue is with new to stick to long to plug into tv usb and wall space. They gave me an 6" extension but the cable is bent some. I unplug so many times. Fact that I get an error message regarding connection when I turn on the tv. Hit home button and it works fine 9 out of 10. Amy help here?
All I done was unplug the HDMI cable from roku and plug it back in and it was fine. What causes that? Never had that happen. I have a good hdmi cable too. It's monster high-speed gold
Mine came with a bad cable I replaced it NP now, roku’s at least mine won’t display if the cable is too long i tried it on a 10ft cable I had no signal I bought I 1.5ft off Amazon works great now
The error jumpscared me by playing some random video after the error (looked like a game) it showed a character’s hand and it said “this is c-“ right before I turned it off… Weird…

@@JEP-Tech try a different hdmi cord when mine wasn’t working it had the short one they give you
@@connormahon8171 Tried that too. I just had to return it and get a different Roku device.

Nice! Changed display type from auto to "manual: 1080p" and it worked
Was it on your tv or the Roku

It worked! Thank you!
You're welcome!
Easier way is to go to advanced settings in ROKU app and just reset your internet connection. Believe me when I say it fixes that error code

None of this works.. I get the full selection of channels coming up on my TV, but when I choose one, it goes to the 020 HDCP error....anyone help ??
You need a HDMI splitter that removes the HDCP signal.
@@switch12345678 I don't need a splitter, so what else can remove the HDCP signal?
@@Ahnleshak A splitter only, dude 😅

If you're GETTING THAT SIGNAL you CAN'T get INTO SETTINGS....HELLLOOOOO

The problem is caused by poor programming, sad that in 2023 they are still getting it so very wrong.
