  • In this video, I show you how to use a tremolo-picking with two fingers that Elliott Smith played in the intro of his live performance of "L.A"
I found a tab online that seems pretty accurate, that you can look at:

Elliott: "I used to listen to Flamenco a lot. I used to try and play it but ended up with a bastardized version of it." ("Tomorrow Tomorrow")

Elliot Smith was a musical genius of the higest caliper and that is not an exageration but the truth. These kind of overgifted players don't need to focus on any particular technique, they just play as they feel. There are no shortcuts to achieve the musicsl exellence of Elliot Smith

If you don’t have nails, just turn the volume up on your amp, mic or whatever and gently do it with your finger tips. It actually sounds nicer too in my personal opinion, like less sharp. I’m pretty sure Elliott did it without nails from the way it sounds when he plays it.

Nice, hadn't heard that intro before.
Although the classical piece you use as an example does not feature a tremolo anywhere in the piece. The portion of Asturias you display are repeated arpeggios (on different strings).
Real examples of tremolo in classical guitar: Recuerdos de la Alhambra, Una Limosna Por El Amor De Dios.

u@@finestcustard5647 it is, but the way u use ur thumb and the other 1-2-3 fingers is very similar, i didn't mean it was exactly the same it was just a bit similar. different folks use different variations. but you watch townes van zandt play, elliott and or justin townes earle they use travis picking alot but different at the the same time.
