I keep watching this and I cant get over how impressive this is. Its really an honor to be able to compete against other hornlines like this one. You guys were very impressive that year, but you dont need me to tell you that for you to know that obviously.
I remember when this video was first posted. It was during a time I was so desperately wanting to do DCI. Unfortunately a leg injury would sideline me from marching altogether. (High School, College, DCI, military). Eleven years later, I find myself searching for this brief two minute video just so I can hear heavens greatest sounds. All these years later, these sound are still incredible and a tone within drum corp that I feel as vanished.
Thanks again everyone for showing interest in my vids and supporting the best drum corp in the world, in my opinion, Carolina Crown. OVER 10,000 VIEWS!!! GO CROWN!!!!!!!
@uubboy14 I don't remember the exact notes since it's been a while. I do remember that it's Eb, Eb, Bb, Eb in the tubas. It's a chord exercise based off of the last measures of St. Micheal so we could tune the chords.
this video fully demonstrates why they are they best hornline to grace the field in a long time(maybe all time?....). What sets them apart is the low brass being able to support the dominant sounds of the trumpets and melos. This completes the full "dark" sound which only the best achieve.
@rwcasian thanks! i appreciate the help! and heck yeah! I'm sure it was! The only time iv heard Crown in person was 2010 & NightBEAT got rained out :/ so tht was a huge disappointment
holy shiteee, i was gonna ask if you sat right in front of a freaking tuba for this, but apparently JamesMichaelFox already touched on that subject x] awesome shit, love CMFC
After listening to that again is that the last few chord progressions of their opener. The one that ends in the big X formations thing...? sounded like it....but whatever it was it makes me wish i were there...
Is there any chance I would be able to get the notes to these chords, I want to arrange O Fortuna and think that a variation of this would sound perfect as the intro. Thanks
@stretch45g thank God. I'd hate to hear screams and hollers in this recording. Maybe in some of those BD Space Chord ones since there are about 5 dozen of them anyway.
@rwcasian hey im brass captain for my band & I was wondering if there was some way you could email me the music for Eargasm. I would really really REALLY appreciate it!
@SubKontraBass Actually, I do think that crown looked like a wgi line lol. And thank you for correcting my grammer on an informal youtube comment? lol. Crown's brass just plays alot of runs that are clean, which I havent heard the blue devils do lately at all. And their sound is definitely much louder and powerful, I've gone to enough shows and stood next to both brass sections while they warm-up enough to hear the difference. Just stating what I think.
@uubboy14 go to noteflight and copy paste /scores/view/6a928b96a5d5a1b6b9eb51f8611a9328d5e41958 after the URL. I just put that together in about 3 minutes, but i'm pretty sure it's about right. Hope the kids in your band enjoy it!
@lostfan62342 Actually they're tubas. Contras are contrbass bugles, which corps dont use anymore. lol. Yeah Im bein a dick but its fun :P I still call them Contras too. haha
@uubboy14 I would love to help you with that but unfortunately I was only a spectator. I CAN tell you, however, that they start on a concert F then lip slur the open partials and go down chromatically. @ 2:09 I have no idea what the chords are but the only advice I can give you is to try to write it out on Finale. Don't blame ya for wanting this...It was pretty EPIC in person!
Eb power chord in beginning. Then add the 2nd and resolves back to power chord and repeats. Then, some sort of insane B chord suspension or something like that which resolves to Eb chord. Even with my perfect pitch, that one chord just leaves me stumped.
@brysnare13 Yes, BD brass is so overrated that they won High Brass...? (and just about everything else for that matter) hmm... next thing you'll be telling me is that Crown didn't look like a WGI line this past year... OH ! ! ! ...and you used the wrong "there". their, not they're...

I CANT BELIEVED I MISSED THAT!!!!

Just wanna thanks to everyone for commenting on my vid. In just about a year, over 7600 views. Thanx again...GO CROWN!!!
@trumpetdudeman07 Yeah it is, and it's so awesome!!! I think they said they called it the take it chord or something like that.
wow, they can do this with incredible volume without ruining the deep, low balance...unlike others who start with a b and end in lue devils
@rwcasian thanks! i appreciate the help! and heck yeah! I'm sure it was! The only time iv heard Crown in person was 2010 & NightBEAT got rained out :/ so tht was a huge disappointment

all these old people here can blame carolina crown about why their hearing is so bad.
Is there any chance I would be able to get the notes to these chords, I want to arrange O Fortuna and think that a variation of this would sound perfect as the intro.
Thanks
