- It was amazing being able to see this up front! Crown always blows me away with their stunning horn-line.
Check out my other videos of Carolina Crown that I recorded
Recorded at RCC in Riverside, CA - Hudba
I can imagine the setting. Its late June hot as hell and they just rode 400 miles to get there that day for the show. After eating PB&J again they suited up as the sun set to prepare for another night of greatness. These kids are tired, hot and ready to give their souls to the show and audience. The conductor who works for peanuts does this because he loves it and would not want to be anywhere else than in front of this horn line. You can tell they give him everything they have as they do every night. What a corp, what a horn line. Its this kind of excitement that makes me want to go to a DCI show.
You sir, hit the nail on the head.
E Don Smith: Awesome description. It too me back to the 70s, when playing a tuba was all I wanted to do.
@@FrankleeMiDeer I still come back and listen to this on occasion. Nothing stirs the emotions in me the same way as this horn line. The energy, passion and pure musical ability. I would love someday to stand in the circle and listen to them warm up. That would be my "make a wish" dream.
Hell yeah. I want to time travel...
And loving every moment of it! ❤ God I miss these days.
Congrats crown, not only for their first title, but also for being the first corps in history to receive a perfect 20/20 in the brass category!!!!!!!!
Crossing fingers and toes that CC finally gets the Gold Medal they deserve this year.
This comment aged well.
Ill be honest, I am almost 50 years old and I cried a lot. The control and power is unlike anything I ever heard in my life.
When I was in high school, my marching band director showed this video to us. That was over 10 years ago, and I still watch this video when I need to gather my thoughts.
Okay, when I heard BD space chords in the background at 2:16 then Crown blast over top of it made me that much happier how the season ended. Perfection.
Damn,,I almost forgot to watch this today..
It's 6 finals later and I still haven't forgotten
The way they respond to his direction is intense. Great musicianship.
It's not everyone's cup of tea but it's impossible to deny the tone quality, technical ability and emotive playing of this hornline. They're pretty insanely good.
The conductor is Matt Harloff. He's one of the band directors at my old high school, Avon, IN. He was also Drum major for Star of Indiana (forgot which year) He always had fun with warmups.
1993.
@@jeffbassplays Thanks.
The fact that they can have that kind of tone playing at such a loud volume on such high notes never ceases to amaze me
what a incredible horn line.I marched 77 Kingsmen and in my time this is the best hornline I have ever heard.
The shear volume, tone and the fact that it is perfectly in tune at 2:55 makes that chord give me goose bumps.
It must be so much fun to conduct such a powerful horn line
I'm not ashamed to say this brought me to tears.
If this is what entering heaven Sounds like I see why my parents were so excited, I’ve listened to this many times just today, everytime I cry, this is beautiful!
Chills every time I watch this. The command of tone sound volume and response is unreal!
looking at this video long enough and the instruments just look like blackholes distorting light around them which is pretty rad
nice sound!
I always loved this part before a show as a brass player it's a chance to show off a massive sound
just amazing absolutely one of the best horn lines Ive ever heard an through the years they just keep on getting better and better
Greatest hornline ever!
The first time I listened to this, I was thinking, "Holy Mary, mother of ...!!!!"
My God this is beautiful. Thank you, Crown!
Now if DCI corps would have moments in their shows like this throughout, as it used to be, the activity would be truly exciting again. Even through the computer this gives me chills. Nothing I have seen live in a long time has done as much, but even the weaker corps years ago could do this.
This is a segment of their show lol
Over the past two years, you guys have have astounding brass warm-ups... This one knocks them all dead! *cries* THE MUSIC! UGH, I wish you guys luck; I know you're goin' far this season!
Man those last 3 chords... Just... I have no words...
I'm crying. This is beautiful. Thank you Carolina Crown. Thank you. Cheers!
I get chills every single time.
This is fucking amazing, this was probably the best thing I've heard in my life.
Absolutely awesome
Beyond amazing.
Very cool! The only Drum and Bugle Corps I knew of growing up was the Blue Coats out of Canton, Ohio. This is awesome!
Beyond amazing!!!
This is amazing
oh wow... just... wow...
Seriously, You can't bottle and sell that. There is some passionate control and maturity displayed by this hornline that has never been seen before.
I'm expecting BIG things from Crown this year, very exciting.
Love those giant dischords near the middle and then the resolve. YEAH !
I just cried a little
He's incredible
I wanna see every single learn this exact sequence, and sometime get every single member from every single core to stagger abd play this, it would be the best thing that ever happened.
I would have to disagree with you. If every corp had this awesome crown sound then DCI wouldn't be what it is. DCI is as incredible as it is because every corp has there unique sound. Crown sounds different from Cavies that sounds different from The Devils, which sounds different from the Cadets, which is different from Phantom. I agree having multiple corps like this would be invigorating but would take away from DCI as a whole in my opinon
Arron Hester I agree completely. Music/art is about diversity!
Crown! Reach for it. It is there for your taking!
The assistant band director for my marching band was part of this, and he lets us do this!!!
Musical mastery!!!
Gave me goosebumps!
The way this guy conducts in addition to how the camera shakes when the light is blocked out is just so perfect lol
loud parts literally felt like static electricity was building in the air.... only to realize it was the hairs on your body were vibrating from the epic soundwaves!
Speechless
Inconceivable!
Every year since at least 2006 (my rookie year, can't speak before that, but I bet it goes back to Matt's first year in 03) they have done the same "around the line" tuning with a loud segment of the show after it. In 2009 we rotated the loud segments a few times before settling on one mid-season and riding it to the end.
GOOSEBUMPS
I think the crown brass is even stronger this year. hearing protection required.
ah, I didn't even see that this was a tuning video! You are correct.
I want this guy to conduct everything!
WHO WOULD JUST WALK BY THAT?
I can do epic things listening to this.
*perfect score on finals day.
This made me laugh. Well done.
I am currently in marching band in high school, and my band director shows us clips of this band. I guess as inspiration,so that we will want to be and sound that good
2:15 onward brings a tear to my eye
Best 2001 version ever
The best, emotional conductor ever, can't imagine conducting this force ever..Kick Ass in Indy Crown, it's your time.......
Goodness fx#king gracious. Proficiency is the word
Sick.
2:31 crown euphs 😩
When practicing show music, the steps are to practice and remind when to lead off in the drill. It helps the brain connect the music with the drill.
This better become their trademark warm up
Oh, Holy Shitttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt
No because when do they play warm ups during their show? The step offs show when and who is breathing at a certain time so they can better their scatter breathing. They breathe every time they step.
2:37. Those baritones...that attack....holy hell.
i would go to dci finals just to watch warmups.
It’s all about those baritones at 2:31.
My band director transcribed the tuning sequence, so we now play it..not nearly as well however , but it's still cool :)
HORNGASM!
Here's the thing.
Do I Bleed Blue? Absolutely, I make no apologies for that.
Although I'm not backing off my comments, if I offended anybody that was not my intent. I see it as a simple discussion. The Bottom Line is, if it gets kids, family members, spectators more interested in the activity, then I'm ALL FOR IT!
ALL the kids in all the Corps work their butts off and sacrifice blood, sweat, and tears. And as an Alum. myself, I have mad respect for all of them.
Omg my band director did turn my brass line into a mini crown
Out did BD in their own house at RCC. I'm from there.
Holy crap...
Ill I have to say to all the bd fans hating on crown is "correction, correction" some of the best horn lines I've ever heard came from crown.
Sweet Mary and Joseph
woah
I cannot FUCKING WAIT TO DO THIS
Can you imagine this sequence on G bugles? Holy cow!
A weapon to surpass Metal Gear
OMFG!
Wooow.
Woooooooooooooooooooo
WHOA
My new ringtone is beginning at 2:22 for 10 seconds !
Holy crap
Now this is how to tune
GOOD LORD
The certainly of me waking up everyday is the same certainly I have towards a clean Crown cut-off. Note: I'm 23 years old and exercise mostly everyday.
2:27 Chord though. Wow
Holy Sprach !
i feel like ive heard this song before, what is it called?
What is the little step-thing that they do?
Yup theres another 1st place brass
Right, I was just hoping they'd keep the AST tag because it's quickly become my favorite and hopefully memorable because of a trophy by Aug. Probably just wishful thinking.
my school does the same thing
i want in
headphones full volume = bleeding ears
why do they do a little step when they hit a new note?
