- Check out this exclusive gameplay from the short game Deathtroopers developed in Unreal Engine 5 by one person! We played the game with a RTX 4090 in a 4K monitor. This gameplay includes exclusive 35 minutes from the two chapters currently available. This survival horror game is based off the Death Troopers novel published in 2009 where zombies where introduced for the first time in Star Wars.
A fleeing soldier ends up crashing into Endor. Here he will find death and a deadly virus, already widespread throughout much of the Outer Rim of the known galaxy.

I like how a “small” company can make something more inspired and interesting that big name companies fail miserably at.
Small companies don't have a huge board of directors who want to have their hands in every project they own to stroke their own ego.
Smaller companies are more creative while bigger companies only care about making profit

If you are a special combat officer, you will be able to see the condition of the previous unit with only pieces of flesh and blood, so you have to enter anyway.
One of my favorite bits of the book deathtroopers was before the zombies started swarming and it was still in that eerie “what happened here”’phase of a zombie story that they had taken a malfunctioning droid and tried repairing it in the morgue (i think they were looking for medical records to explain wtf happened on the abandon ship) the morgue was full and they left for a few minutes to investigate leaving the droid in the morgue. When they got back the morgue was empty except for the droid.
When asked what happened to the bodies the droid looked at the group “they got up”
I was listening to this via audiobooks and just the tone that was given to the droid was so matter of fact, that it came off almost like the droid was confused why the group was confused

I don't recall any standard Stormtrooper classes using durasteel, maybe the Imperial special classes did, such as Imperial 99 & Death troopers.
@@I_love_bread_and_Hungry_Jacks Clone armor is made of plastoid as well only commandos and other special units had better gear but the average clone was the same as stormtrooper in terms of equipment with added plot armor of course
@@random_person266 Well would you look at that, for once my memory is actually wrong this time around (went back to look at all the armour comparison videos, the only differences between both phase 1 & 2 vs stormtrooper are the comfortability & the thickness of the armour pieces), starting to fade out like Rex himself.

Infected Vader. Project Blackwing infected, after enough time, can actually remember their skills.
Consider for a second what happens if a force user like Vader, a Lightsaber duelist like Vader, a fighter pilot like Vader, is infected.
Unless you manage to set him on a collision course with a freaking sun, he is a neverending apocalypse that makes DARTH NIHILUS look nice by comparison.

@davidstevenson4760 exactly my point. Infected Vader is and would be nigh unstoppable. Launching him into a star would not only probably be the only way to stop him, but it would be the only RELIABLE way of doing so.
Let's also consider the possibility of Z! Vader zombifying everyone he kills. Including the Inquisitors. And Jedi. And Bounty Hunters.

@@PotatoesPHto keep loyalty to the empire. Otherwise they'd have to conscript more troops who are unwilling and usually that can lead to betrayal... The empire has a strong grip due to intelligently utilizing propoganda and manipulation to make it's subjects believe they're the good guys.

I imagine disturbingly more terrifying , instead of their regular calls, yips, and vocal patterns. All you'd hear is growling, screaming, verocious in a feral savage type way with foaming at the mouth or something. They already eat humans/ humanoids "supposedly"and cook em before eating, but instead now they would just start munching on you alive not even bothering to cook you first.
Storm troopers have never been bad shots they are actually the more elite soldier compared to the imperial troopers. The only reason they miss is because of plot armor .
More like plot. They were ordered to miss on some occasions, like the Death Star escape.

Well actually there was something slightly similar. In star wars the clone wars, there was a few episodes about an worm that would infect people. Wasn't quite a zombie virus, but still clearly going for a horror vibe.

Republic commando had potential to take on more intense missions that could have some moments of dread or terror. Maybe investigating an outpost that would’ve been similar to the episode of clone wars 03 where anakin found bothans being experimented on to be bio weapons.

Now there's something you don't see every day: An accurate stormtrooper that actually hits his intended target. How about that.
Cool thing is that this isn’t something that was just thought up. In the Expanded Universe Non-Disney timeline it happened… though not where it does in the game. It happened on a populated planet and had something to do with an ancient Sith created virus the Empire was messing with. Think Chewbacca got infected but cured during the comic.
It started during the old republic era on a planet whose name escapes me now and then a second outbreak occured in deep space aboard an imperial star destroyer and a prison barge called the purge. The virus is called blackwing
Think originally it happened on a Star Destroyer that was trying to create a bioweapon inspired by the Muir Talisman (a Darkside relic that transfoms people into Rakghouls) but as it usually does when zombies are involved, the virus broke free and turned most of the Star Destroyer into zombies.
Unlike your usual zombies though, the Blackwing Virus Zombies actually retain a small bit of thier intellect, and can figure out how to use doors, operate machinery, use firearms and even fly ships - albeit not very good because they are zombies at the end of the day.
There has been multiple stories like this... one of them was in clone wars
@@moonrock115 you're close but a bit far. In the book red harvest a sith Lord heading an academy is performing experiments on failing students trying to recreate an ancient sith alchemical marvel. The ancient sith Lord became a zombie and was killed, but left his research behind in a holocron. The sith Lord at the academy found it and started recreating the process but tried to cure the mind loss by attempting to consume a live Jedi heart. This didn't happen though. This happened before the rule of two was established by bane.
Fast forward some and Vader comes across the virus and research losing many men in the process. He then creates special project blackwing which is him adding touches to the virus to make it functionally more devastating. He added the capability of it being airborne (thus the name black WING). This was done in secret from sideous as Vader had plans to overthrow him. While in transport to another experimental facility, there was a silly little oopsie and a trooper dropped a crate containing the virus. Needless to say but the ship was wiped out. Then follows the events of the book DEATH TROOPERS which does indeed have Chewbacca in it, and yes he is infected but cured within seconds of the point of no return by a scientist who luckily is immune to the airborne strain, Zahara cody
If I remember right it was two different books, the one with the Prison Barge and the Star Destroyer with the attempted bioweapon version of the virus, and then the prequel book with the Sith Academy and origins of the virus

I believe the audio is taken from a story you can find on CZcams. It was interesting, iirc; the radio and tv play reports as you see an apartment window view change as the event goes on. I’ll link it if I come across it later 👍
Same, it doesn’t sound Star Warsy but each planet has continents and those continents have countries and those countries have states. Got three states that share a border and you got a tri-state area in a galaxy far far away

For sure. Some of the voice acting is....weird and I don't know how the actors refuse to say "I'll" at every given point, but the story potential and atmosphere is pure gold.
Unfortunetely disney will take this awesome project down and will never make one of those ideas... What a shame. it would something different and bring new fresh air into the gaming franchise.
If they take it down, it's a canon event. XD

or its going to conflict with an upcoming project like the KotOR adaptation (competition).

@@justin2308 no, cos none of these images have been created by Disney. If they used the John Williams score in the video and it is monetized, that is the only case that a video could receive a copyright strike.
It's always the small stories that makes the most impact. Something about the "death troopers" gained more of my interest than the rest of the Starwars lore because you wouldn't expect nor have thought of something like this happening especially with all the tech in their disposal.
It would have been interesting if we get a Star War horror that takes place in Felucia during the Clone Wars. Lot's of terrifying beasts occupy that planet, or so the narration in Battlefront 2 (The original) states

The shrieking of the zombies and the sound of claws scraping and teeth gnawing at durasteel doors was SO UNSETTLING in the audiobook. I loved every second of the novel!

The way he moves is a little bit clunky though and his outfit clips a lot. A lot of the mesh could have been scrapped without anyone noticing anything. Might have even helped a bit with fps if he’s using the same amount of unnecessary material with other models
It’s probably the nerdy me but seeing a stormtrooper piloting a tie fighter made me genuinely confused. 🤓👆
Plus the armor bending with the movement animations like it’s attached to the characters skin weirds me out.🤓👆

I like the atmosphere and look of everything but that health bar looks straight out of a flash game.
Why do so many shooters not have impact sounds for the projectiles? A laser is crashing into plastic armor (or whatever storm trooper armor is made of) and it makes no sound? It would have a much better feel if they just had impact sounds that play based on what surface the laser is striking.

It's a plastic-like material that's meant to disperse the heat of blaster bolts and is much lighter than and cheaper than metals which is why it's used so much ^^

I recall from the first film when Vader sensed Old Ben it was because Ben is alive Zombies don't have a life to sense, maybe a few managed to get an ambush.

I like the concept it’s great, but a few tweaks and improvements on the graphics, sound design, UI, AI TTS(text to speech from “I” to “I’ll”), custom star wars radio chatter, a little more gore, lore accuracy, and maybe make the zombie animations a little more appealing, maybe throw in a few aggressive more agile type zombies, i don’t know just a few ideas, I know this may not get anywhere just yet or at least until y’all get Disney on board with this project and we gamers may have the next game of the year to master, again I love the concept

If this was in first person on a star destroyer that lost power and you have to navigate it with a flashlight and a balater that malfunctioned so it doesn't shoot properly that would be an amazing experience

Pretty good for fan made horror game my only complaint is that is the blasters don't really need ammunition they run of gas cartridges in the star wars universe and the cartridges have like over a thousand shots each so they basically only really overheat if to fired frequently so it's really more about overheating than getting and conserving ammo like in resident evil

First flashback what i got it's a Star Wars Clone Wars and Episode with Parassites from Geonosiss.
This was a solid demo.

You should conserve shots for effective threats ut seems. The zombies that are stuck on obstacles pose little threat, savr it for the chasing horde.

Narration needs a bit of work in order for it to sound a bit more cohesive but you could probably chalk that up to the droid being banged up to it not speaking in complete sentences.
