Fun fact: The kits wailing in Mapleshade's head that were silenced by her murders were not actually the kits in her head, instead they were hallucinations created by Mapleshade's mind, and was a "reason" for her killing spree.
That’s right! Vicky once said so on her Facebook page. Mapleshade’s a good example of an unreliable narrator, where the things she percieves isn’t necessarily how it actually happened.
In other words she basically went sort of almost kinda insane

In The Broken Code it was forgotten that Mapleshade was fading away, and because of the whole Frecklewish in the Dark Forest drama, I've heard speculations that Mapleshade might take a major part as a villain in A Starless Clan (newest, just started arc)
And honestly, that would be interesting to see, and might once and for all end the whole thing with Mapleshade that started

I wonder if she had involvement in possibly trapping Frecklewish in the Dark Forest and- I know it’s a stretch- what was described in the site was hinting on what Mapleshade says later in the series to manipulate someone, maybe Flamepaw, if she reappears as a main antagonist. Again, I’m just guessing

Applesusk was a coward, acting like the victim and cheating on reedshine and mapleshade at the same time, and turning against mapleshade and blaming her. For the kits deaths, in my opinion he deserved what happened to him.
The thing about Appledusk is that we don't know why he decided to cheat instead of doing anything else he cheated, he didn't have any malicious intent. My headcanon is that he was scared what Mapleshade would do or act like if he told her he didn't wanna be mates anymore. (He also had every right to blame Mapleshade for the deaths of her kits and to turn against her)
It's not confirmed that Appledusk cheated. It's only confirmed that he was close with Reedshine.
He had every right to break up with Mapleshade and blame her for what happened to their kits, as she *is* at fault.
Now, if Appledusk cheated, it was because Mapleshade was so possessive that she was toxic. He most likely felt trapped.
Well, it WAS Maplshade who sent her kits into a river during a flood.
I feel so bad about how little sympathy Maple got after her kits died. Everyone in Riverclan coddled Appledusk, but sent away the grieving mother asking them for refuge. And it’s not as if Mapleshade wanted to drown her kits, she loved those little shits. She was fantasising about the warriors they’d grow up to be and was clearly very proud of them. (Even though her whole Birchface plan was stupid.)
Im sorry to the mapleshade fans but this is truth MAPLESHADE IS NOT BROKEN she is both pure evil and kinda broken
Appledusk cared about the kits he Was doing what was right he saved patchkit when mapleshade took her kits for a trip to afew rivers and puddles and he also saved mapleshade and he was completely honest that he was the father of those kits instead of mapleshade who started the forbidden he was the victim Mapleshade was being controling and said once " . . . YOU better stay away from appledusk reenshine hes mine. AND these kits will make sure of that" and also frecklewish couldnt save her she was shocked and couldnt risk her own life to drown in the river shes not a riverclan cat Ravenwing was doing his job he was also young since his mentor died and also he did his job by spilling mapleshades secret he was doing his job as a med cat he couldnt lie for the sakes of the clan and since leaders could possibly learn and he could get in trouble and being honest to his clan was a good thing And why? Didnt mapleshade just say they werent birchfaces kits and mapleshade always shakes off what they would do if the secret was revealed and they got in trouble mapleshade had faith in her clan but she never had a plan if that faith was broken in half.
I remebre seeing an add for these books when I was much younger. They looked interesting but I never got around to reading them. Now I stumble on a random you tube video over a decade later only to find out that this story reads like a Greek tragedy.
and this is only ONE of them!! basically every single cat in the seres has a story nearly as complex as this one and there have been at LEAST 100 cats so far lol

One thing I noticed people do is think Mapleshades story is a story of a tragic hero's downfall. And while I agree some characters no matter how you slice it make bad horrible decisions (ravenwing and oakstar banishing a new mother, and Appledusk for chasing her out after her kids deaths.) But just because people are cruddy to someone *DOESNT* make someone a tragic hero.
Most of the dialogue is told through Mapleshades pov. Because there is no other cat to pov in this timeline, we don't know full context. Best example is Frecklewish and her whole dark forest fiasco. Mapleshade is screaming that Frecklewish knew her kids where dying and didn't help, when Frecklewish didn't know what happened and thought they where going to be okay.
Tbh, i would love to have a novella about Shellheart and the relationship he has with his mother/grandmother Reedshine. And possibly as a final answer to Mapleshades story and hear it from someone who has *been* in the time of Mapleshade. We only know how MAPLESHADE was thinking, we never understood how OTHERS reacted to certain things,only what mapleshade thought they felt
I’m glad you talked about Mapleshade besides the novella.
I know the art is not the best around, but they do have a charm to it that I like. Keep doing the good work in the art and keep studying and practicing, and you’ll be able to look back and feel proud about how far you’ve gotten, even if the improvements are small. I don’t intend to sound rude and I wanna be honest, but try to be encouraging. Your style has a lot of potential.

honestly i think she’d more be like another leopardstar. she’d think she was always right but try to do the best for her clan (assuming appledusk didn’t do… all of that)
How does eliminating a spirit work in warrior cats.
Basically, spirits can be wounded as well - not within StarClan’s realm itself as far as we know (e.g. when a character is concerned about her StarClan kits jumping around in tree branches they explain that they don’t fall but can basically fly), but if they’re in the Dark Forest or manifesting in the real world (as in the Great Battle) then they can sustain wounds as if alive. If they receive a wound that would have been fatal in life, then their spirit just straight-up vanishes from existence altogether. Another method is that if they’re forgotten by living cats then their spirit just sort of fades away until it’s gone, but the books are pretty inconsistent on how the fading part of it works.
I never found out if Ashfur came from SC or TC since there was 1 Ashfur in SC and 1 Ashfur in TC but I think it was the Ashfur from TC since I herd she/he killed leafpool/Squirrelflights kits

I think oakstar was the villain here. HE banished mapleshade from the clan. And that caused her anger. If oakstar would have forgave her she wouldnt have gone on a killing spree.
How is Frecklewish in the dark forest?
Well according to the warriors Wiki she's in the dark forest, I don't think it was even confirmed by the authors

Tbh I haven't read the book so I might be wrong she should just told them that oak star and frecklewish wanted to believed that it was frecklewish brother kits or mapleshade should of just say the father said he doesn't want to be a dad.

Before mapleshade had her kits frecklewish asked if Birchface was the father. Mapleshade didn't answer her and frecklewish takes this as a yes and settles down next to mapleshade. Mapleshade does seemed to feel a little guilty for this but thinks to herself that it was fine because she didn't lie out loud and goes on to use frecklewish for a good whole because her friendship would go a long way and something like that. She failed to correct frecklewish and let the whole clan believe birchface was their father when he was not and believed that her kits will be accepted whenever she decided to reveal her kits father.
I have no clue how she thought thst was gonna work for her.

Honestly, when OakStar said to ask who the kit's father was, why did she tell the truth, and not say AppleDusk? She could of said BirchFace! Also, why did OakStar ask? She said her kit's father was BirchFace. The deputy must have told him the father!

i mean she is a pretty huge kitty? she's described as being pretty big and it's used 2 justify how she took down her victims (i think I'm rusty on her book), yellowfang is the more slender one as she was described as pretty skinny and kind of boney
but ehhhh that's just canon rlly every headcanon is valid ! she's def not grumpy tho. vengeful and awful sure but she's thriving at some point 😭
The reason fans tend to draw her as a large cat is because one of the authors, Vicky, once described her as “big, tending to fat”. Her descriptions in the books - thick fur (especially around her neck), broad muzzle and face, scarred, matted fur - also put to mind a large cat physically similar to Yellowfang. They do certainly have different personalities, though!

She didn't seem to love anyone. She saw everyone around her as objects, including her kits and mate. She killed three innocent cats, attempted to kill a pregnant she-cat, and nearly killed an apprentice. That's why she's in the df.

@@Blackstarrawz Mapleshade got their kits killed. She knew it wasn't safe to cross the river with kits. She knew it was storming when she crossed. And one of the kits literally said they were too tired to swim.
Why would you defend someone who literally got your children killed?
Appledusk got with Reedshine after breaking up with Mapleshade, lol. If he cheated, why were there no romantic interactions between him and Reedshine until *after* he left Mapleshade? Reedshine would have been way further along with the pregnancy, as well. But at the end of the book, she wasn't even showing.
He moved on too quickly, sure. But that could have been a coping mechanism. Lots of people actually use things like that as coping mechanisms, by the way.
He didn't use Reedshine. He genuinely loved her. He loved her enough to literally die protecting her.
I recommend you read the book. :)
