Today we got some Breaking News About Meta & LG Electronics working together to create the new Apple Vision Pro Competitor but What does that actually mean for the Mixed Reality Space, cial computing space
This month we Saw the Launch of the well anticipated Apple Vision Pro.
It's rumoured that they managed to sell over 200,000 Units.
Which side note, at $3500 thats This much money 700000000
It's undeniable that the vision pros hardware & Ergonomic design is pretty great.
A Lot of people where put off by the Large Price point
But one amazing take away for Virtual Reali, i mean Spatial Computing community
Is how the public perception has changed for the Mixed Reality & the AR Market.
The media has gone crazy over this product, Good news stories, bad news stories
But Apple did what it does best, and marketed it to everyday consumers.
Anyone in the space for a while knows the potential of this technology
but i feel socially many more people are coming to realise what this tech is actually capable of
Now we have seen Mixed Reality for a while with the Quest Pro, HoloLens & the new Meta Quest FREEEEE
As cool as all those devices are, The vision pros hardware is unmatched for Augmented Reality.
Apple worked directly with Sony, to produce Micro 4K Oled Displays, to bring the most high quality and vibrant colours to their displays.
4K Micro Oled Technology is actually really interesting, Due to its precision it's very hard to manufacture in large quantities
So with Sony's own PSVR 2, TV Line & their new Mixed reality project on the way, it's safe to say they probably have their hands full.
But what's interesting is that almost every Brand that sells OLED Tvs buy their oled panels from LG Displays, a Sister company of LG Electronics.
Which, we mentioned at the beginning of this video, Meta has now officially publicly signed and established a deal with LG Electronics to produce the new Best Next-Gen XR Device.
This is without a doubt a Strategic Collaboration to compete with the Apple Vision Pro
With many speculating we could be seeing a Quest Pro 2, here is what a spokes person from LG Said
Them saying bringing LGs TV Content could indicate that they plan to bring TV Smart apps to this next Generation XR Device.
With companies like Netflix & Spotify pulling releases for the vision pro, this could give the Quest Pro 2 a Competitive advantage for Media Consumption in XR.
Which is one of apples Main focuses when marketing the Apple Vision Pro
So although its unclear right now on how branding will work and if meta quest pro 2 will be the device name
All we know right now is they came to an agreement behind closed doors and we can expect to see this competitor by the first half of 2025.
There's another report from someone who predicted the collaboration saying the Device coming from the 2 companies is expected to be around $2000
It's important to Mention That this collaboration marks an interesting rivalry between Apple & Sony but also Google & Samsung who are all now in the Mixed Reality & VR Space.

So many things can be improved on Vision pro but what I think is being overlooked is really getting the traveling mode side of things polished. Anytime you move in a car or walk too fast the headset freaks out even inside travel mode. Just improving that experience and upgrading the FOV and Passthrough would make a competitive product.
Sooo it’s gotten better over the years, and I think it will continue to improve, specially as passthrough gets better and 3D depth sensors get better. But strongly agree this would be a huge advantage to the industry

It needs to have hdr color space and oleds it needs to be at the same passthrough standard as avp or even better same goes for eye and hand tracking it needs to be light and comfortable it needs pc level processing
100% agree! The thing that could take this to the next level is higher megapixel cameras for passthrough! With everything you mention it would seriously put them at competition

hi I guess a new quest pro 2 should include much better passthrough and move beyond the PS3 level video graphics... for sure should offer higher performance when working with a computer (pc). Wish list... ha ha
I strongly agree 😁 soo the pass through can Defiantly be achieved via higher megapixel cameras, better depth perception and better displays per eye. Now here’s the issue with the ps3 level graphics. Running anything portable whilst having enough battery life is soo hard to achieve. Look at gaming laptops, they can’t run games above 60fps and good graphics without being plugged into the mains. These company’s have to find a balance between performance and power consumption. Yes it will get better with time, specially with apples innovation with the M series chips which allowed for better graphics with less consumption, but that’s why we see 2 hour battery life, the tech right now can be pushed and it’s still evolving but it’s very pricey, now that’s what will make the price of the quest pro 2 over $2000, I think we will see a major increase. Unfortunately for headsets, in like steam deck and switch, they also have to contribute battery and performance to hand tracking, camera tracking, and soo much more, imagine having your phone open all day running camera in 4K and depth perception and running ray tracing games all at the same time, it would die in 2 hours easy haha, the techs getting better specially if you compare it to the last 5 - 10 years, but also having the option to play PC Vr makes it totally worth it getting pc lethal graphics without damaging battery life 👏

They quest 3 and vision pro are not meant to compete. The price difference is gigantic. And use case Is not the same at all

That’s a really interesting take, can I ask for your reasoning as to why you believe that? In terms of the Apple ecosystem working with the Vision Pro I understand why that gives them an edge to Apple users, However. With better gaming, media consumption, integrations and with only 31% of the world using iPhone over androids 67.5%, I think they very well have a market edge over Apple in many ways
I respect your opinion and see where you are coming from but unfortunately I have to disagree. They are both wearable tech, Both do similar things. The Vision Pro has better hardware no doubt, however the quest 3 can do everything the Vision Pro can just without the Apple ecosystem. Also Vision Pro can’t even do XR properly which results in a lack of applications and games. I wouldn’t compare it to a gaming laptop but try to see it like this
Vision Pro is an 8K tv without being a smart tv, really cool hardware but no games runs in 8K, barely any movies in 8K to consume. So there is no content. Now the quest 3 is a 4K smart tv, everything is compatible and there’s lots of apps and the tech is really being utilised. But even that comparison doesn’t acknowledge quests XR capabilities that the Vision Pro simply cannot do

Apple lost is edge. They not innovative anymore. Apple lost in VR with Meta. Apple lost in EV with Tesla. Apple lost with AI with Microsoft. Not innovative company.
They are not really pioneering much in terms of products anymore, but something like the M chip series has been an amazing innovation for tech, specially AR & VR. Apple introduced M series to have soo much performance with little power draw, it’s soo game changing that other company’s are now trying to imitate it, I just have to give them credit where it’s due, but I do agree with you, no wow factor innovation in recent years
I think Apple actually lost to Xiaomi not Tesla, Apple worked on car for 10 years and invested billions just to fail while Xiaomi worked on a car for 3-4 years qnd came out with an incredibly good and incredibly cheap car that did crazy well on its launch and in the press.
