I think I just freaked myself out because I was already in so much pain and then the size of the needle freaked me out and I was just going thru a lot in that moment so I panicked. I stayed still and it got done REALLLLY quick like less than 2 minutes but I just had this sense of worry.

I was trying to go for an undmedicated birth but after being in labor for more than 3 days my body was tired and I had to get transferred to a hospital to get the epidural. Honestly had no idea this was how it was done. It did not hurt at all and I couldn’t feel a thing. My anesthesiologist was done in within 1-2 mintues. I gave birth in Nashville. My favorite person I met while giving birth was my anesthesiologist, Ryan. I remember him in my mind as my angel because after a long laboring process and me not progressing normally, I know for a fact I wouldn’t have made it or have been aware during the birthing process. I still remember his name and how happy I was to see him. He was so quick, efficient and friendly. I was overjoyed to have a large needle placed in my back at that moment. 😂

They don’t tell us, but you’re supposed to let the anesthesiologist know if you have scoliosis. Even a slight one.
I think that’s why my first epidural hit a nerve but I’m not sure as he wasn’t sure.
Apparently you’re supposed to tell them if you have scoliosis but it’s so common people don’t mention it. Many people have it and don’t know also.
The pain was short-lived, and the results were worth it for me vs more contractions but we’re all different.

The doctor hit my spine or something by accident with the needle and it caused one of the worse pains I’ve felt. He had to move it around to continue :/

I know this comment is 5 mos months old, but I had to reply, the same thing happened to me! He hit a nerve and I felt like my leg was on fire and I was being electrocuted up my spine at the same time. It probably lasted seconds but man did it traumatize me. Thank goodness w/ my second child epidural was painless.
He said it could be because I have a slight scoliosis .

I had to get 2 epidurals bc the first one he messed up and then I had my c section! All was super scary but the epidural was totally worth it my contractions were terrible, I was begging for the epidural! It was so much less pain compared to contraction pain. Getting it twice sucked though for sure! I ended up getting an emergency c section anyways though so all those contractions and the painful induction process was for notjing lol

I had an epidural with my 1st child and it was more pain that giving birth (the epidural wore off by the time I gave birth so I felt everything ) I was so scared to have an epidural with my 2nd child and thank god I went into labor unexpectedly 2 months early and had her in the ambulance so I didn’t have to get one. Side note….i felt the epidural ripple up my back and I have severe back pain to this day (which is actually my daughters 18th birthday today) has never been the same since.

Hei! I wanted to ask how do you deal with the pains ?because Am suffering too and the most irritating thing is that the so called doctors don’t want to admit the side effects.

Epidurals are elective and you're happy your baby was pre term? 🤨

Omfgggg I didn’t know the needle was that fucking long. One of the most uncomfortable things I had to do during birth. I would twitch every time and get fussed at because I could become paralyzed. Like damn that’s a fucking weird sensation. Of course I might twitch

I had this when I had a surgery. At first I was not aware that they inserted this at my back, only then when a nurse came and checked on me then she administered something on my back. It wasn't painful also when they removed the catheter.
