    You have no idea how long I have been trying to get the sculpting process in Blender down. Your videos, of the thousands I have watched, have been the most helpful and constructive to a character design flow. Thank you so much for clearly showing and telling all of your processes as you work through sculpting this character!

    In sculpt mode, use alt-q to switch between sculpt objects. However over the target object and hit alt-q. Avoids switching to object mode, selecting another object, and switching back to sculpt mode. PS: great videos!

    You have the best tuts. Your workflow is really amazing but I feel like there was so much time involved in creating the base mesh of the eyes. I usually just add eyeballs and sculpt the eyelids ontop. My opinion. great video.

    • @RussellMidfield
      @RussellMidfield  Před 3 lety

      Thanks Rada! Yea I agree, every time I do it the eyes are a big chunk of time in each video. I'm not very good at sculpting haha, so whenever I try and sculpt in eyelids it ends up being an absolute mess and looks terrible.

    Great tutorial, While it depends on what you end goal is I prefer to use he Bool tool to join my objects. While CTL-J does join objects together the bool tool removes the overlapping faces.

    • @RussellMidfield
      @RussellMidfield  Před 3 lety +1

      Thanks Bryan! Yeah, Ctrl+J does leave the intersecting faces inside its true. I always do a voxel remesh after which cleans it up nicely.

    • @RussellMidfield
      @RussellMidfield  Před 3 lety +1

      Yeah it came on advice from a commenter on one of my other videos where I use the boolean union modifier, they suggested it as an alternative, perhaps easier/quicker method. I found that I liked it, since I use the voxel remesh function heavily when sculpting anyway, so it fit nicely in my workflow!

  • @andrewtans9547
    @andrewtans9547 Před 3 lety +1

    I was new to the voxel remesh technique before watching this. I'm interested to know, do you have experience with how this translates in facial animation with the absence of clear edgeloops around the facial features? Is that a trade-off for the relative speed which you are able to block out the character?

    • @RussellMidfield
      @RussellMidfield  Před 3 lety +3

      Oh yeah I wouldn't think the voxel remesh would be optimal for facial animation, but I haven't tried to be honest. I just use the remesh for the blockout and sculpt only, then I add the control loops in later during the retoplogy stage.
