    I remember playing Red Dead Redemption 1 and exploring tumbleweed for hours looking for hidden secrets: trying to find ghosts, trying to find answers. I read the newspapers about the town being haunted, saw the bloody message on the wall of the interior of the church. Examined the emaciated dark horse that spawns there on rare occasion. Watched as thousands of bats flew from the manor in the morning. It's truly a mysterious and chilling location, being in Tumbleweed always felt like I was in someplace iconic and special.
    It's been 10 years and I still believe Tumbleweed was abandoned because there is genuinely paranormal activity in Tumbleweed. Tumbleweed is truly haunted, it is either that, or that some horrible creature drove them all away. I will always have a genuine interest in Tumbleweed.

    here's my theory;
    after the little amount of crime around Tumbleweed after bounty hunters assisted the Lawmen & Freeman
    (not necessarily the player) the people had rebelled against Freeman for being so controlling. A big gun fight ensued
    and with the Town residents outnumbering the Lawman, as well as a few Lawman you betrayed Freeman, the Town was left in ruin. Freeman and those who remained loyal held up in the House on the hill but were quickly overwhelmed
    after they were dealt with, the Townsfolk decided to leave Tumbleweed and move to Armadillo and help it get back on it's feet
    taking what resources were left after the skirmish
    Then about a week or two later the last remaining Del Lobo from Fort Mercer took Tumbleweed but were unable to restore it back to how Freeman kept it
    thus passing on the "Curse" from Armadillo to Tumbleweed

My friend went in to the manor while I checked out the church (at night of course) upon entering it I saw a black shadow shoot out the back door of the church and at the same time my friend said he could hear whispers in the basement of the manor. After that the server never changed back to day. 7:50 "Esteban Cortez, I knew your brother." While it's a pretty obvious nod to "A Quick Favor for an Old Friend" where you're hunting Ramon down with Sadie, I liked that small little dialogue from John a lot.
    Anyway, yeah, it definitely seems like a combination of Sheriff Freeman, the train tracks just not going to Tumbleweed, and the cholera outbreak that's heavily implied to have been caused by the Strange Man. I also think that, in theory, the Del Lobos gang probably went back there to get revenge on Sheriff Freeman and kill any residents that deciding against leaving when the town started to decline.

    • @erikallen3804
      @erikallen3804 Před 4 lety +4

      The reason we can’t explore Mexico in 1907 is because of the border tensions between America and Mexico. Nothing to do with John and the RDR1 storyline. By 1911/1914, the tensions between the 2 countries have calmed down enough to let people enter each other’s country. I also would’ve liked to see the decline of Perdido since there’s only one house in the region that’s completely abandoned, Barranca. If there’s any more abandoned places I forgot, please reply to my comment. I would’ve also like to see the decline of Tesoro Azul, the town near Escalera in Punta Orgullo. Aside from no railroad, the town seemed fine until Reyes’ rebels took refuge in it and got it burnt down.

    • @erenyeager3829

      Mexico's border in 1899-1907 was not stable with America as civil unrest was happening everywhere in the nation, but by 1911-1914 stuff had cooled down enough to let people cross the Mexican borders.

    • @ciarandolan7695
      @ciarandolan7695 Před 4 lety +1

      not entirely true, the Mexican American border in actuality was completely porous until the Mexican revolution. I think people who lived there at the time would have struggled to say there was one. You only would have had occasional army outposts to look out for renegade native bands, and not much else other than some pretty damn seedy border towns. Besides the bandits using common travel routes like skeleton canyon and the renegade apache in the New Mexico bootheel AKA big hatchet country, the only really troubled bit of relations between the two countries governments, not citizens in the 1890s would have been the revolt of the Garzistas. Kind of a small taste of what was to come. Even when the "bandit wars" began the only places that were reliably closed off were at towns on the border and no where else. Border raids back and forth happened repeatedly from 1910 til 1921 hitting a peak from 1914 til 1918. Hope this was a good enough reason.
