    Thanks for that, Daniel - a very comprehensive review and discussion. What I really appreciated was the impressions of both the near-field and living space setups. We don't always get that, and it was appropriate to speakers of this size and class. PS There's nothing wrong with walnut...joking!

      Near-field listening from what we can see is heavily under represented on CZcams so we are glad you appreciated the time put into testing that aspect of the speakers performance.

    There is a strange hype around these speakers especially the S2, some claim they are the same as the "normal" box 5 which are at half the price, also they have a pretty expensive DS2 version, that no one reviewed...I mean really you can`t find anything about them. Would be nice to find a comparison between the 3, otherwise all these reviews are just paid ads to me

      Second this. Also searching for a review on the DS2. Today the price on DS2 is all over the place which make me a bit hesitant.

    Nice speakers but the price in Australia just isn't worth it$900 :(

    Comparison to Speaker Box 5 please! I want to know if it’s worth it to upgrade. 😊

      Unfortunately we won't be in a position to do a direct comparison, from what we understand the differences are in build quality and a slightly different tuning. Your money is probably better spent upgrading other parts of your signal chain. :)

      @@living_entertainment Daniel, doesn't the improved construction and internal bracing have a significant value/effect upon resulting sound? Seriously asking. Because I'd rather have the bright red version, which is only available in the original 'lesser' 5 model. Though gloss finishes are finger print and dust magnets.

    It would be really nice if you could review the top of the range DS2 model and compare it with this. No reviews on that one that i can find.

      @living_entertainment  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Unfortunately the DS2 is not something that's currently available in Australia so it's not something we can cover. :(

    Hi, thanks for this very detailed review. Could you please tell me the brand and name of your speaker stands? They look amazing

    Some are saying that these are identical to the Speaker Box 5 (non-S2 version), bar a few cosmetic differences - this guy makes that argument: czcams.com/video/c_6RdBuBXns/video.html
    ..any truth to that? - im considering picking them up, but if they're the same as the non-S2 Box 5's then i'll pass as the those are less than half the price of these.

    They are just too expensive. Bowers & Wilkins offers more in smaller price.

      I've owned many, FIVE, different B&W's over many years now. The newest 600 series versions, you would be suggesting comparison to all have suffered from over the top tweeter brightness. Making Miles Davis trumpet miserable? ! ? Yeah, that bad. So the 607 S3, the smallest and cheapest. Out. It's big brother, 606 S3, slightly better yet still to hot in the top end. And the 3 series purports to be the fixed/improved tweeter from the Series 2 Anniversary versions. No explaining all the continued 'awards', especially from the British (maybe biased) press.
