Cuphead is a classic run and gun action game heavily focused on boss battles. Inspired by cartoons of the 1930's, the visuals and audio are painstakingly created with the same techniques of the era, i.e. traditional cel animation (hand drawn & hand inked!), watercolor backgrounds, and original jazz recordings. Play as Cuphead or Mugman (in single player or co-op) as you traverse strange worlds, acquire new weapons, learn powerful super moves, and discover hidden secrets. Cuphead is all action, all the time. Do you have what it takes?

What a REVOLUTIONARY idea! Not only a game incorporating cel animation, but specifically animation styles inspired by the 1930's! I'll be sure to get back into gaming in order to play this!!

Digital Animation has...but not Traditional done-by-hand Cel Animation
This is all done by hand,including the colored backgrounds
Only thing which is done digitially is the character coloring for some reason

I've NEVER seen any modern cartoon that manages to catch the 1930's cartoon spirit in such a mindblowing way. And we are talking about CARTOONS, this is a VIDEOGAME! The colors, the designs, the perfectly "imperfect" animation... I'm truly amazed, congratulations.

I'm here to say that this game looks absolutely incredible! It's like we're playing a 1930s cartoon! LOVE the graphics, LOVE the style, LOVE the animation... And I'd really love to see more games using a similar style some time in the future... I'll definitely get this one on PC! Looking forward to it!
I kind of like how this trailer makes Cuphead and Mugman seem like the bad guys, even though they're only doing it because they gambled with the Devil and lost. There was a lot of moral ambiguity in cartoons back before the Hays Code was a thing.

I love what they done with this game after this teaser. Instead of being nonstop bosses, they also added levels. Just like the bosses, they have a certain theme (like a carnival or forest) and have unique attributes in those levels. That’s what I love about this game.

I can still remember seeing this trailer a few months after it came out and I genuinely thought it was a cartoon. I can't believe we've come this far to where we now have DLC for the game finally out, really can't wait to see what Studio MDHR has in the future!

honestly, one of my favorite games ever. original, never boring, has a challenge to it and a plot!
People in the comments freaking out about delays, guys, they're taking time to perfect the game and make it to a standard they're happy with. I'd rather wait another year and have a brilliant quality game than have had it last year and have a bugged pile of garbage that's barely playable. I know it wouldn't have been like that but my point is, delays can be a good thing. Don't knock it until it's been released, just be patient my friends.

Honestly as someone who use to marathon old 30-50s cartoons as a kid on DVD box sets, this looks down right amazing I can't wait till release.

***** It's not exact it however is very heavily influenced by Disney animation style. Very 1930's or 40's style Cartoons. It's not a surprise people make connections to Micky Mouse, one of the most famous cartoon characters from the 1930's, yes Steamboat Willie was 1928 but more prominent cartoons continued in the 1930's. Oddly enough as the character was not originally the "hero" or "king" character we see him more as now. Originally if my memory serves he was actually a ruffian compared to Pete. It's been like 3 years since I did any study of Disney though and what I did was brief for a history of animation class.
