ABOUT IRON MAIDEN:
Iron Maiden are an institution. Over the course of six decades they have come to embody a spirit of fearless creative independence, ferocious dedication to their fans, and a cheerful indifference to their critics that’s won them a following that spans every culture, generation, and time-zone. A story of gritty determination and courageous defiance of the naysayers, theirs has been an adventure like no other.
The band’s immense discography includes the studio albums ‘The Number Of The Beast’, ‘Piece Of Mind’, ‘Powerslave, ‘Somewhere In Time’, ‘Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son’, ‘Fear Of The Dark’, ‘The Final Frontier’ and ‘The Book Of Souls’ which have spawned many classic hits as ‘The Trooper’, ‘Wasted Years’, ‘Hallowed Be Thy Name’, ‘Wasting Love’, ‘Run To The Hills’, ‘Aces High’, ‘Rime Of The Ancient Mariner’ and ‘2 Minutes to Midnight’.

Adrians guitars solo....one of the best solo of heavy metal history
The best EVER…..well only at every moment we melody along with it, then when song over, “wow”. Then back to reality. The solo. Wow
Agreed. this solo has the late great Gary Moore written all over it.
And yet, he left Maiden because he was scared of being found out as being the weak part of the band,..
@@the_trooper_72 Why? Because he couldn't play as fast as the rest of the guys?
I always crying, when I lessening to him. So blessing, Adrian.
The albums "Somewhere In Time" and "Seventh Son Of a Seventh Son" are true masterpieces heavy metal history!
Can't forget Piece of mind and Powerslave though!!
Adrian and Dave were a perfect mix on guitars. Both musically and personally. The whole band has benefited from that the whole 80'ies.
I saw them at lb arena in that tour And to think that many fans back then felt these albums represented maiden selling out.. how wrong they were
Somewhere In Time the best album in my opinion
Synthesized guitars and the trance'y sound design are the components that really sell the two albums for me.
I don't get why Somewhere in Time is so underrated. To me it's the best Maiden album of all time.
Idk about underrated. Most fans I’ve spoken too would say it’s in their golden period of albums and one their best
2023 and this is still my favorite album.
I dunno... I still put Number, Piece and DEFINITELY Powerslave ahead of it but totally dig the album. I was 15 when Number of the Beast released.
wha? SiT is the best album of big five albuns from Maiden! forget it!
I love this album! The thing about this album I think that doesnt rank as high as TNOTB, Powerslave, SSOASS is that just like Piece of mind (that is also one of my favroites) is that overal doesnt flow as good as the other ones as an album, not that is bad, is just that the others, in particular SSOASS flows perfectly as an album.
The 2nd thing, and thats also in the context it came out, the tone is not as raw as the other albums. the more synth guitar tone makes this one a bit less heavy metal.
But if you ask me I love this album, and I love each album as their own thing.
They played Stranger In A Strange Land today 28.05.2023 in Ljubljana Slovenia! 🤘🔥
Since 1999🤔👀
From Brazil!
My favorite Maiden tune. Maiden was my oldest brother's favorite band, he died of cancer around 3 years ago. I crank songs like this when I miss him.
May he Rest in Peace
+rockoutmichigan My condolences.
So sad...rip.
I'm sorry for loss brotha, maiden mends wounds, and know that he's up there hanging Clive burr jamming maiden 24/7
music is the best way to get over any situation, friend..Be strong!!!
Adrian's solos are almost always so well written
Happy Birthday Mr. Adrian Smith for his 63th anniversary 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
Adrian is one of the nowadays rare cases of a great lead guitar player, whose solos fit each song like a glove...
@@jacksparr7106 I'm a huge fan of shred, but tasteful shred (not calling Adrian shred but you get the idea)....technical playing is a tool, not an objective
@@jacksparr7106 yeah, he's like the David Gilmour of metal like that. You don't have to hit the most notes, just the right ones in the perfect sequence.
@@j2oaks Glen Tipton too was the same. Melodic Solos which just blend in Note for Note into the Song seamlessly.
Adrian's solo in this song is a masterpiece 💎💎💎
Maybe the best solo in Iron Maiden's history
of all time@@MrKartonki
Bruce Dickinson's vocals are simply legendary! The man gave his very all in every performance and it really shows! The whole band is legendary!
His range is on the level of Ronnie James Dio, my opinion
You can tell that Adrian put his heart and soul in this album
Steve Harris is a bass god. The perfect timing and driving just keeps that engine running. What a band and what a song. Steve was the reason i picked up a bass and adopted his style, 29 years later and he signed my bass on the Book of Souls tour Sout Africa. Maiden for life.
Steve Harris is the prime example of a master of the bass. You can't listen to Maiden and not appreciate his handling of the rhythm along with Nikko McBrain on drums. Iron Maiden was then and will always continue to be masters of metal.
Harris is pure badassery 🤘
Steve is what gene simmons wish he was.
@@antoniomarchello2475 as much I hate Gene he has some good tunes too.
@@antoniomarchello2475 hahahahaha
It’s that riff once the chorus begins combined with the way he sings wow
I always loved the futuristic sound of the Somewhere In Time album. The guitar, bass, synths drums, and everything about it was damn near perfect. Adrian Smith was definitely the highlight musician on this album. Every song on the album sounds like it could be on a best of or greatest hits Maiden.
Same, I just never knew how to describe the sound. My favorite Maiden album no doubt, sounds beautiful
They put lot of fx on the guitars, I think mainly is the chorus that gives that particular sound. Anyway, great mixing and production, like in Piece of mind and Seventh son.
''No brave new world''
14 years later: release an album called brave new world
j Celis and the album Brave New World, the magnificent AMOLAD and their latest album Book of Souls are imho the best albums they ever did....
death and this masterpiece album you love more and more every time you listen to theese outstanding songs !!!
juliana just now noticed this today watching this video. Crazy.
Brave new world! The best metal album ever!
Dammit. You beat me to joke.
Iron Maiden was not the typical Heavy Metal band. They had so much melody and cerebral power. Somewhere in Time is a beautiful album, yet powerful. Some of the Most amazing music that Maiden has ever recorded. A Classic record for sure.
Matt Nardo this album is from another dimension
Matt Nardo classic and very different, I love the album, it´s like a taste of what was coming, the more progressive music, more melodic with a " new " sound...some of the songs are magical.......
A very underrated and overlooked album indeed.
It's one of my favourites. I love the sci-fi tones as well as the dash of prog.
I agree they were inspiration to some of my favorite bands Killswitch Engage, Soilwork and In Flames
Adrian's solo on this song is definitely one of the top 5 most heavenly solos of all times! EPIC!
You know I’ve heard and listed many bands as my “favorites” but Iron Maiden will always be my number 1 Band. I can listen to these guys all day
This song was played at my mothers funeral, I was only 11 at that time. But me and my brother grew up with my dads metal CDs. This song really related to my mother, as she came from Romania to here in the Netherlands, but never could find any connection to the people here sadly, she passed away from suicide unfortunatly... Strangly this song always brings a smile and a tear to my face, as it's such a masterpiece but it also has many sad memories. I know my mom is now in a better and peaceful place❤ RIP
I am so sorry about your mother...we will see them again
@@dcs244832 ofcourse, we will meet everyone again at some point. But not yet.

One of their all time best songs.
yep \m/
Hell yeah \m/
yes, without a doubt, a lot of people don't like somewhere in time, but to me its one of their strongest albums. wish I could get the tour shirt Adrian smith is wearing.
Thats the truth. That solo is awesome.
The best. I just love the guitar sound on the whole album. Not that far from some of the more recent (1994) Pink Floyd tracks when it comes to the guitars.
I listened to this song on repeat when my family moved to Germany from the US in 1987. I was 14 yo & lyrics the hit home. The whole album is a masterpiece.
They don't know how to make music like this anymore
I saw Iron Maiden in 2005 at OZZFEST. Maiden Blew Sabbath off the stage!!
3:18 - 4:25 This part is simply epic. It is is amazing how they can make a music that is such a mix of emotions and makes you feel happy, sad, nostalgic, ecstatic, disappointed, euphoric, joyful, melancholic, at the same time. Masterpiece.

Indeed this song is like:
Yeah yeah.. just take my soul.. let departed as the souls frim that song please... don't shut up, but take my soul 😂
Was many years ago that I left home and came this way
I was a young man, full of hope and dreams
But now it seems to me that all is lost and
nothing gained
Sometimes things ain't what they seem
No brave new world, no brave new world
No brave new world, no brave new world
Night and day I scan horizon, sea and sky
My spirit wanders endlessly
Until the day will dawn and friends from home
discover why
Hear me calling, rescue me
Set me free, set me free
Lost in this place, and leave no trace
[Chorus:]
Stranger in a strange land
Land of ice and snow
Trapped inside this prison
Lost and far from home
One hundred years have gone and men again
they came that way
To find the answer to the mystery
They found his body lying where it fell all that day
Preserved in time for all to see
No brave new world, no brave new world
Lost in this place, and leave no trace
What became of the man that started
All are gone and their souls departed
Left me here in this place
So all alone
[Chorus:]
What became of the man that started
All are gone and their souls departed
Left me here in this place
So all alone
Something so mysterious and mystical about this song, cant quite pin it but truly one of the best songs ever
Its the riff
I think it’s the synthesisers
I mean, it fits the subject: John Torrington from the lost Franklin expedition.
janickjackson I agree!!!
Someone told me it's sort of based off of the Franklin Expedition. But I haven't really done any digging to confirm that
One of the most unforgettable guitar riffs ever. Simple but so effective and beautiful to the ears.
What matters is that it is melodic, emotional, powerful, beautiful, innovative, unique! Simple or not! If it is JUST complicated it doesn’t mean anything! Although maiden do it all simple or not but for the sake of music
WHAT MASTERPIECE IS THIS!!! THE Classic song, from the most awesome Heavy Metal decade, the 80's!
Adrian Smith ladies and gentlemen!!!
Adrian wrote this song
Ade Smith pwns every riff and solo part in this album.
He is the brain...
That solo, easily outweighs anything wrote by other guitarists of this band. And I have listened to them all.
Adrian Smith wrote amazing songs.😉😊
Iron Maiden are an incredibly diverse band , but every song always maintains that iconic Maiden sound! Absolute masters of the art.
Scott Mapex indeed they are, they goes right into your heart, and will stay there, forever.....
PINK FLOYD AND MAIDEN ARE MY FAVORITE BANDS - no other bands are close in my list of music
iron maiden aren't really diverse - but hell are they good
It sounds like Iron Maiden because they have a signature sound. Several bands do
This song has such class, it is so elegantly build up... So much good taste in all its construction.
The intro, the pace of the verses, the chorus, the interlude to the solo... The solo, the closing absolutely one of their top songs!
3:18 Smoothness. Man, that solo has been on my head for more than 30 something years .
Amazing guitar solo by Adrian, Proof that a good guitar solo doesn't have to be fast.
The riff after he finished singin ”no brave new world” is just orgasmic🤤
I come for that bass solo every time and leave happy every time. So melodic and beautiful. That is what I imagine paradise to sound like.
This is one of my favorite Maiden tunes. The guitar riff in this just rips, the vocals from Bruce just carry the tune to this awesome place. Iron Maiden fucking rule.
Somewhere in Time is the best Iron Maiden album! 🇧🇷
I do t know if you’re right but you sure ain’t wrong. Not a bad song on the album.
Solid album from start to finish. Then again I can say that about any of the albums that came out from 82 to 88.
Agree a good album but Number of the beast I think is their best
acho o piece of mind melhor, mas com certeza o somewhere in time é um dos melhores
With Seventh son the bets albums
That solo will cure the Covid-19
The solo IS covid because its fuckin sick.

Adrian Smith in total God Mode here. The interplay with Steve's bass at 3:18 and the epic solo afterwards is the stuff of legends. And that tasty pinch harmonic at 4:03 ... Damn.

The solo is amazing !!! Adrian is amazing
Who else is here because of the guitar solo? Adrian’s masterpiece.
Adrian Smith is a David Gilmour of Heavy Metal.

This, along with Powerslave's solo (a two-part one with Adrian I believe playing the first and Dave playing the second), are among the best solos ever composed.
@@arvindhmani06 It's actually Davey playing the first solo, the "more quiet" part, then Adrian right after that, then the little melody part and then Davey again.

One of the most badass riffs ever
Wasted years is better
God damn these guys are good. It's unreal how a band can be this good. \m/
This is my favorite Iron Maiden song. Most of all because of this amazing Adrian Smith's solo along with one of the most beautiful bass lines from Steve Harris. This is a masterpiece! Perfect!

Just as great as before.
Somewhere In Time is a top 3 Maiden record for me. Everything up to Fear of the Dark is pretty much absolutely classic in every sense. Alexander The Great off this album is just off the scale completely. Masterpiece.
Literally the most emotive Iron Maiden solo ever in the history of Maiden let alone Heavy Metal songs. It almost makes me want to cry how well Adrian designed the tones and intricacies of it to lift the main riff up and fire it outta the park. Goose bumps every single time. This album makes me feel better when I'm down. Love it so much
I wish post 2000 Maiden albums sounded like this (production wise)... What a difference
Sounds so fresh after all these decades
It's as if bands don't even sit down with the producers and engineers to create a sound for each instrument and make them come together these days. It feels like there's now a golden standard for how a heavy metal album is supposed to sound, and everybody uses the same "template" for everything. Definitely not as much variety between different bands' sounds these days.
This is the most true comment ive ever seen
