The funny thing is that this video was recommended to me straight from a Mass Effect video.
If Hydroflax's body had succeeded in taking the Doctor's head, would he regenerate a new body upon death or would there still only be a head? The important questions in life.
Right, as far as I understand it: the head would have remained alive as long as it was attached to Hydroflax's body, but if the body died/disconnected The Doctor's head, it would then finally regenerate.
The Doctor isn't Jack he can't regenerate from one cell, the heads seems to be working on their own so there is probably some life support in the neck part or something, but if it was disabled it would be just a head and I am sure if someone decapitated him he would most certainly just die...
He wouldn't regenerate full stop. If you kill a timelord quickly they don't have time to regenerate so something like an instant decapitation or a bullet to the head would be game over.
I always thought that if you kill a timelord quickly enough the regeneration response wouldn't be triggered in time.

How did I not know Greg Davis was a Who villain? Even more hilarious that he was used as solely a head and not his freakishly inhuman height.
This is still one of my favourite Christmas specials. Even though it wasn't the best stories for the Christmas specials, it was still entertaining.

It's crazy because I only know Greg Davies from comedy / semi-comedy programmes, and here he is, with basically no make up besides two cybernetic implant-ish things glue to his head and his performance is spot on frightening.

Although this isn't the most threatening episode of all Who, it is just to relieve ourselves over the emotion of Series 9! I adore this episode for its jokes, music and course- 12 and River Song!!

Clearly they don't use the Star Trek scale.
The story itself was forgetable but i guess Moffats logic was "were gonna have Capaldi and River so is not like anyones gonna pay attention to anything else..."
I think the general idea was that the episode would be about an adventure of River and the 12th Doctor and the story itself was just a vehicle for this. Not necessarily the best way of doing things in my opinion, since its nice to have both a concept and a memorable story but in terms of creating a fun Christmas romp, I feel it succeeded in what it set out to do.
Forgettable? rivers speech made it very UN....
While I'm not excusing the relative weakness of the plot, it's perhaps understandable that they wanted to do an overly whimsical Christmas special as a contrast to Series 9's largely very serious themes.

Most of the story was forgettable, but the ending with the singing towers was good

EpicTryHardGaming, massive difference, this is a Christmas special after a dark series and action packed series.
theres a difference between light hearted and stupid, doctor who was always a kids show but it always had tone, a decent script, characters, but now they think its okay for doctor who to be dumb because most children will be too busy being children to notice.
People are too lazy now to follow intricate plots.
We went from this to doctor mysterio...
...which was worlds better. Doctor Mysterio was meant to be cheesy, it was a send up of old superhero movies. Just enjoy it in its own right, stop deciding that everything the show does is bad for crying out loud!

The announcer on the ship says they're approaching the Andromeda galaxy, but then the next shot is the ship approaching a planetary nebula. And one I believe that is found in the Milky Way galaxy.
No, the announcer say's that's the next stop. They haven't arrived there yet. Which would probably take a while even at warp 12 (Whatever warp 12)

Honestly, the doors weren't properly closed. The only logical explanation on how the body got in. I mean, even the hordes of Genghis Khan didn't get through these doors!
Just another plot device that does not make any sense.
Because River said "Get in", thus giving the body permission to enter the TARDIS.
The Doctor literally said the doors couldn't seal because Hydroflax was half in the TARDIS, half out of the TARDIS.

What you don't see: Alex Horne as a subroutine / extra head who gives tasks to the subjects.

I still don't understand how river doesnt regenerate after she died tho. We know she could regenerate, so unless she used all 12 before she dies and her mind is put in the supercomputer via the sonic given to her by 12 being plugged in by 10, i don't see why she didn't regenerate. I've been confused on that for years now
She gave all of her regeneration energy to the 11th we she poisoned him
