They're trying. There is a movement called the inter state compact. But more states have to sign onto it. In simple terms what it is, is that states promise to award their electoral votes based on the national popular vote. That way there won't be swing states anymore, electoral votes will be cast based on national popular votes.

trump used our "break glass in case of recession" plan when our economy was perfectly stable. He lowered taxes, lowered interest rates to near zero and increased government spending. You only do this when the economy is in a recession. But it wasn't. That's why it overheated our economy and caused the inflation we have today.

I've worked in digital advertising for over two decades and watched as well as used many of the audience cohort techniques explained here. Somehow, at least to me, influencing somebody on what video game, movie or dishwashing detergent to buy seems a lot more innocuous than bringing a despot to power.

Coming from Germany and being INFUSED with Nazi history and basically a rule book on "How to spot a demagoge", I had a bad feeling about Trump in beginning which unfortunately made way for an even more earth-shattering reality.
