Despite decades of warnings and preparation, President Trump has claimed that covid-19 “came out of nowhere.” He downplayed the coronavirus as it began to take hold in the U.S., disregarding the advice of experts and politicizing a health crisis. Through interviews with former Trump administration officials Mark Harvey and Olivia Troye, along with Washington Post reporters Dan Balz and Yasmeen Abutaleb, “Playing it down” explores why the White House was slow to respond to the pandemic, and the far-reaching consequences of its inaction. After months of mixed messages, contradictory policies, divisive rhetoric - and more than 220,000 deaths - the president continues to insist the virus will one day disappear.

Trump actually didnt do too badly. The MSM is trying to make something out of "Downplaying" - their smoking gun. Nothing is wrong with optimism. The lockdowns and measures taken had zero impact. Its clear now in 2023 that Democrats wanted him to fail hence the reason for this video. The wanted the vaccine to be delated until after the election and and Pfizer announced it two days after. The early release of the vaccine for High Risk patients would have saved many lives. During Omicron the vaccines had little or no impact - countries around the world who ignored the vaccine did far better than those who pretended that vaccines were effective. Covid vaccine hesitancy was exclusively caused by Democrats and the MSM. Biden/Harris: "Im not taking the vaccine", "I dont trust the vaccine they all said. After Biden took office he further divided the country by starting a PSA that involved all living presidents EXCEPT the one who half the country just voted for.
Then we have the whole issue of Dems/Media/Science covering the origins of covid and literally WHO is the blame for Every Single Covid death. Scientists deliberately created this virus, and they and their friends in the media need to be held to account. While they blamed Trump and colluded with every player like the Teachers Unions, Cuomo and other Blue state governors where literally murdering innocent people in Nursing homes - they know full well that nursing homes tend to be older and conservative.
After the FBI went after Hillary about the emails and her lead diminished, I knew Trump would be elected. I remember telling my Dr. that I was worried something bad was going to happen the U.S. and Trump was only going to make it worse.

I lost my Dad 🥺 Oct/2020. We couldn’t even have a viewing because of the risk of infection even though the person was dead. Imagine my Dad was alone in the hospital and me and my family couldn’t even see him.

I'm so sorry for your loss. 😭My cousin, 61, died of Covid-19 on August 12th, 2021. He did not get the vaccine, not sure why. He was diabetic and was considered high-risk should he get Covid.
Yes, my Dad's death shut my parent's retirement community down. He was the only person there to die from it. But I think I gave it to him. There were no tests then but I'd been sick with a respiratory virus for 6 weeks before I thought I was well. I hope it isn't true.

I feel your pain because no one knows what it's like to lose a love one. Until it happens to you.
I couldn’t get the test. It was awful, though. I remember staying home and staying away from my loved ones so that they didn’t get it. The next year it took a long time to get the vaccine. When each age group got the vaccination and it was my turn, I had grief trying to get it. People were dropping dead, like flies. It was so scary. The worst time in history for the teachers, children and medical personnel.
If president Biden was in office during coronavirus it probably wouldn’t have gotten in the United States.

When this started, I completely ignored the political leaders and listened to the medical experts. I was a front line worker and what I witnessed vs what the political leaders were saying was in complete contrast with each other. I SAW that instantly and was horrified at what I was witnessing unfold in such a public arena! Here we are in March, 2023 and with all the vaccines taken, I am STILL wearing a mask out in public, using hand sanitizer, and avoiding public places as much as possible. I still do trunk pickup at grocery stores! COVID still to this day, scares the CRAP out of me! I was so careful that I was exposed on a number of occasions in my profession and cared for people with it and NEVER got it. I credit that to making sure I had the right equipment, sanitizing EVERYTHING and dropping my gear at the door when I got home while washing EVERYTHING at the point of coming in the door, showering and then sanitizing EVERYTHING in my house once inside every day. I still do this to this day.

My sister and I ended up catching COVID and it was a bumpy ride. It almost killed my sister and I blame EVERY MINUTE OF UNCERTAINTY on this pathetic circus of an administration. 1/20 can't come fast enough.

I’m making this observation from 🇬🇧. We have all experienced Covid 19 & I am waiting for vaccine, which I believe will be a month away. I think worst of Trump is that he was in denial about Covid. About the numbers, even the U.S Surgeon general said a few days ago that there is no reason for him to dispute the number. As a matter of fact, the U.S COVID death was under-reported between March to July to account for the death indirectly caused by the virus. This is not the first time death numbers are reported due to a public health crisis but this is the first time some politicians put their nose and made it political. For now, COVID-19 might not have the same number as the Flu because it's still new but if care isn't taken, its number will blow away that of Flu in no time.

What happens when nothing really changes after Jan 20? What happens when Joe Biden turns out to be just another politician like all other politicians are Democrat or Republican, making promises to get into office and then falling short after they get the power? Will they retroactively be on Trumps hands as well? It's either one way or the other. I'm no fan of Trump what so ever, even though I am a conservative (I don't believe that Trump actually is a conservative or even a Republican for that matter). But to say that Trump has done an absolutely horrible job and that a lot of these deaths wouldn't have happened if not for Trump's direct actions? That's pretty all knowing of you to claim. Especially considering there are a lot of factors in everything that happened. In the United States, things are done differently from state to state and the amount of control and say so that the federal government has is on a constantly fluctuating scale. Plenty of states governed by people who are pure enemies of Trump, who are on the opposite end politically, and by most anti-Trump folks logic "good people" and "smart people" because of that, well, they've made absolutely horrible decisions that absolutely did result in people dying.. Like New York's governor Cuomo sending the most vulnerable, elderly patients, sick with covid, to a facility where they care for 10's and 100's more citizens who are of the most elderly, vulnerable and most with pre-existing conditions... Stupid decisions don't belong to one person in politics, they don't belong to one political party. They belong to all those in politics and all political parties.... but it doesn't matter, because regardless of how things go in 2021, either they'll get better and Biden's a hero, and if that's the case, great, fine by me, things are better. It will be a year tomorrow since we hugged at the airport, and I had already paid for my flight to spend May with her. That and another flight were cancelled, which I fully understand. I'm in my third lockdown. I always wear a mask, wash and disinfect my hands & never have guests. I don't care. I just look forward to eventually hugging my only child again.

As a former Registered Nurse in Oregon, the last 12 of which were on a respiratory care unit. It would shock and appall you to know how many doctors were ordered to keep their mouths shut by Trumps CDC (Centers for Disease Control) that if they spoke out about anything to do with Covid they would turn them over to the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) for "investigation". Now, in order to be able to prescribe any sort of medication you have to be licensed by the DEA and have a control number issued to you so they can keep track of you and make sure you're not over prescribing things like Morphine, Oxycodone or any other drugs of abuse. One of my old nursing instructors told me that about 80% of what a doctor does is writing prescriptions and if you ever want to strike terror into a doctor's heart just threaten their DEA license. And Trump did this to many doctors here on the West Coast to keep their mouths shut so Trump wouldn't get any bad news while he was running for re-election!
