I lived there in the '50's...when it was so tiny. But family had a house in Port Royal till '85. Really makes me feel sad for this to happen....and the beach still under water is astounding.

@@diskoeric2248 Well....when I lived there the pop. was just a tad over 1,458. As of 2022, the city's population is way over your count....it is 19,372. And there was NO north Naples with high-rises....and no houses on 3rd St. South across from our house....and no houses across the canal behind our house except one....and none of the blocks and blocks of new mega houses in and around Old Naples....I could go on...but I think you better take another look at Naples, if you still think it is small.

Lived there until 3 or so months ago.
we were fine it's overhyped. coastal area of naples got flooded, nothing serious. Rest of naples was dry and many areas had power still during storm.

What years? I was living there from '56-'58.
1977 to 1994 but go back to visit Mom who still lives in the same house in Golden Gate. I loved Naples but now it's just difficult to see all the growth and gridlock when I visit.
@@ggreen6036 I am very distressed at all the growth that has happened...🙁.it's not the same place at all...even on 5th Ave...no buildings were higher than two stories and very few of those that were higher than two.....and didn't go all the way to Gordon Drive....stopped with sandy plots about a block before Gordon.

Golden Gate faired well. Being 10 miles from the Gulf. Only power and cell phone disruption and down debris.

Naples is very large. I’m thinking these floods are near the beach in zone A. I’m far from the beach, central east. We lost power but no floods
Bad flooding at beach all the way to tamiami trail in some spots. Most people that live in that flood zone probably evacd or live on second floors.

What are the current conditions and how have they improved or worsened since this video was taken? (9/28/22 8:35pm). My 80 year old grandfather lives in Naples and refused to leave.

Err yes, we’ve known for years that people have increased the likelihood of extreme weather events by burning too much fossil fuels. My sympathies in any case to people affected in Florida and Cuba.

What is Vanderbilt beach road looking like? Towards Islandwalk?
Island walk should be ok. DaRuMa closer to the beach had water to the roof, but with Islandwalk being further inland, they may have only had to deal with some tree damage. I know the Target on Immokalee is reopening tomorrow, so that end of town starting to go back to normal

I sure do wish someone would show the Tropicana mobile home park in Ft. Myers. My parents I think lost everything. My dads on kidney dialisis and needs treatment every other day. They are in a hotel right now but they don't have the funds to stay in a hotel for the long haul.
Funds will be coming in. Stay tuned for federal and state aid. I’d start an email campaign to inform their local politicians, emphasizing the dialysis. Best wishes.

I know all these places like the back of my hand and this is a whole lot of water. All the high rises on gulfshore blvd probably have all their mechanicals ruined and all the pricey cars left in the underground garages are fishbaits. This is 100s of millions of damage in this video alone. And this is not that bad as hurricanes are concerned. Sanibel and Captiva islands are probably complete write-off.
I know Gulfshoee Blvd is pretty much destroyed. My grandparents own a first floor condo there and it’s completely underwater. One of their cars is floating down the road somewhere as of now. It’s horrible especially to know your own family is affected by it plus thousands of other families.
Watch and Look for the water compare to tires etc. Not as Bad as they want us to Believe IMO.

And on the Day of Resurrection thou (Muhammad) seest those who lied concerning Allah with their faces blackened. Is not the home of the scorners in hell ?

And Allah delivereth those who ward off (evil) because of their deserts. Evil toucheth them not, nor do they grieve.

Allah is Creator of all things, and He is Guardian over all things.
[39:63]
His are the keys of the heavens and the earth, and they who disbelieve the revelations of Allah - such are they who are the losers.
[39:64]
Say (O Muhammad, to the disbelievers): Do ye bid me serve other than Allah ? O ye fools!
[39:65]
And verily it hath been revealed unto thee as unto those before thee (saying): If thou ascribe a partner to Allah thy work will fail and thou indeed wilt be among the losers.
[39:66]
Nay, but Allah must thou serve, and be among the thankful!
[39:67]
And they esteem not Allah as He hath the right to be esteemed, when the whole earth is His handful on the Day of Resurrection, and the heavens are rolled in His right hand. Glorified is He and High Exalted from all that they ascribe as partner (unto Him).

And the trumpet is blown, and all who are in the heavens and all who are in the earth swoon away, save him whom Allah willeth. Then it is blown a second time, and behold them standing waiting!

And the earth shineth with the light of her Lord, and the Book is set up, and the prophets and the witnesses are brought, and it is judged between them with truth, and they are not wronged.

And each soul is paid in full for what it did. And He is Best Aware of what they do.

And those who disbelieve are driven unto hell in troops till, when they reach it and the gates thereof are opened, and the warders thereof say unto them: Came there not unto you messengers of your own, reciting unto you the revelations of your Lord and warning you of the meeting of this your Day ? they say: Yea, verily. But the word of doom of disbelievers is fulfilled.

It is said (unto them): Enter ye the gates of hell to dwell therein. Thus hapless is the journey’s end of the scorners.
[39:73]
And those who keep their duty to their Lord are driven unto the Garden in troops till, when they reach it, and the gates thereof are opened, and the warders thereof say unto them: Peace be unto you! Ye are good, so enter ye (the Garden of delight), to dwell therein;
[39:74]
They say: Praise be to Allah, Who hath fulfilled His promise unto us and hath made us inherit the land, sojourning in the Garden where we will! So bounteous is the wage of workers.

And thou (O Muhammad) seest the angels thronging round the Throne, hymning the praises of their Lord. And they are judged aright. And it is said: Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds!

And We caused the Mount to tower above them at (the taking of) their covenant: and We bade them: Enter the gate, prostrate! and We bode them: Transgress not the Sabbath! and We took from them a firm covenant.

Then because of their breaking of their covenant, and their disbelieving in the revelations of Allah, and their slaying of the prophets wrongfully, and their saying: Our hearts are hardened - Nay, but Allah set a seal upon them for their disbelief, so that they believe not save a few -

And because of their disbelief and of their speaking against Mary a tremendous calumny;
[4:157]
And because of their saying: We slew the Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, Allah’s messenger - they slew him not nor crucified him, but it appeared so unto them; and lo! those who disagree concerning it are in doubt thereof; they have no knowledge thereof save pursuit of a conjecture; they slew him not for certain.

But Allah took him up unto Himself. Allah was ever Mighty, Wise.

There is not one of the People of the Scripture but will believe in him before his death, and on the Day of Resurrection he will be a witness against them -

Because of the wrongdoing of the Jews We forbade them good things which were (before) made lawful unto them, and because of their much hindering from Allah’s way,

And of their taking usury when they were forbidden it, and of their devouring people’s wealth by false pretences, We have prepared for those of them who disbelieve a painful doom.

But those of them who are firm in knowledge and the believers believe in that which is revealed unto thee, and that which was revealed before thee, especially the diligent in prayer and those who pay the poor- due, the believers in Allah and the Last Day. Upon these We shall bestow immense reward.

Lo! We inspire thee as We inspired Noah and the prophets after him, as We inspired Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac and Jacob and the tribes, and Jesus and Job and Jonah and Aaron and Solomon, and as We imparted unto David the Psalms;
[4:164]
And messengers We have mentioned unto thee before and messengers We have not mentioned unto thee; and Allah spake directly unto Moses;
[4:165]
Messengers of good cheer and of warning, in order that mankind might have no argument against Allah after the messengers. Allah was ever Mighty, Wise.
[4:166]
But Allah (Himself) testifieth concerning that which He hath revealeth unto thee; in His knowledge hath He revealed it; and the angels also testify. And Allah is sufficient Witness.
[4:167]
Lo! those who disbelieve and hinder (others) from the way of Allah, they verily have wandered far astray.
[4:168]
Lo! those who disbelieve and deal in wrong, Allah will never forgive them, neither will He guide them unto a road,
[4:169]
Except the road of hell, wherein they will abide for ever. And that is ever easy for Allah.
[4:170]
O mankind! The messenger hath come unto you with the Truth from your Lord. Therefor believe; (it is) better for you. But if ye disbelieve, still, lo! unto Allah belongeth whatsoever is in the heavens and the earth. Allah is ever Knower, Wise.
[4:171]
O People of the Scripture! Do not exaggerate in your religion nor utter aught concerning Allah save the truth. The Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, was only a messenger of Allah, and His word which He conveyed unto Mary, and a spirit from Him. So believe in Allah and His messengers, and say not "Three" - Cease! (it is) better for you! - Allah is only One God. Far is it removed from His Transcendent Majesty that He should have a son. His is all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth. And Allah is sufficient as Defender.

The Messiah will never scorn to be a slave unto Allah, nor will the favoured angels. Whoso scorneth His service and is proud, all such will He assemble unto Him;

Then, as for those who believed and did good works, unto them will He pay their wages in full, adding unto them of His bounty; and as for those who were scornful and proud, them will He punish with a painful doom. And they will not find for them, against Allah, any protecting friend or helper.

O mankind! Now hath a proof from your Lord come unto you, and We have sent down unto you a clear light;
[4:175]
As for those who believe in Allah, and hold fast unto Him, them He will cause to enter into His mercy and grace, and will guide them unto Him by a straight road.
