Australia was one of a tiny group of countries that you could work hard for a decade and have a house fully or mostly paid off.
That whole group is gone, not just Australia.
Lol, the average house price in Australia is not 1.5 mill. And theres a difference between median and average. Also the wage statistics are wrong here. 1970 average take home pay was about $3000
Absolutely! Very poor use of statistics. For things such as wages and house prices median should be used instead of mean (average).
As an Australian it gives me no pleasure in saying Australia is a rip off these days.
Well said and I couldn't agree more
Big issue atm is overseas investors and immigration.
Definitely prominent around Melbourne
Sydney is not the capital. Itâs Canberra.

Only rich people can come unless you have family here already that can support you. Yes, its getting expensive but change is happening, smaller homes, new building materials will start being produced and soon most home owners will be millionaiers opening up options to enjoy retirement age. Most families now stay home with parents to save, or richer parents give their children the cash for a deposit. Take a look at Lebanon. Australia is doing pretty good. USA are losing wealth daily.
Um no.
