    • @SirReptitious
      @SirReptitious Před 5 lety +577

      He's probably a perfectly nice cat. The cat I have now I adopted when she was 7, she is 19 now. She is the absolute sweetest, most loving cat to me you could ever see. But when I take her to the vet she is just like the cat in this video. Not only will she try to fuck up everyone at the vet office, but she will try to kill me just as much. She has fucked me up a couple of times. Last year at her checkup they were unable to draw blood from her for her yearly checkup. She is due this month for her yearly checkup and shots, so they will HAVE to get her blood this year. But the place I go to doesn't give them an injection, they have a machine they put them in and gas them(I can't recall the name of the drug they use). They have never had to use it before on her, guess I will find out soon if this will be the year they finally have to... ;-p

    • @theresajimenez8055
      @theresajimenez8055 Před 5 lety +296

      She might have been abused in her /his kitten hood before you adopted her. Many years ago I adopted a homeless young cat who acted the same as this cat. She would hide when visitors visit. I'm convinced that she was abused. The only people she would let pet her were my mom and myself. We kept her and she became very gentle, but it was a long process. I admire the vet's handling of her. Very professional and gentle.

    • @SirReptitious
      @SirReptitious Před 5 lety +168

      You are exactly correct! I adopted her from PetSmart, and the woman there who fostered here until it was her turn for adoption said the previous person she was with was an elderly woman who had to go to a nursing home and so of course sadly had to give her up. THAT woman said she adopted her from another place, and that they told her the people that had her first had "abused" her. But no one has any idea what kind of abuse she received there.
      She doesn't only hate going to the vet's office. She hates having to leave the house. I had to have my house tented for termites a few years ago, and so had to stay in a nearby hotel for two nights. For about the first 12 hours we were there she was hiding under the bed and would try to attack me if I tried coaxing her out. Then she finally had to pee and got hungry enough that she came out, and after that she chilled out pretty fast. She also REALLY hates other cats. There are stray cats in my neighborhood and they will come up to the bay window where my cat loves to sit and sleep and mess with her. She attacks the glass and hisses like crazy. She also had to be kept in the bathroom when she was fostered because otherwise she would have attacked the other cats. So yeah, she clearly had some bad years in her past. But those days are all over now! She has been with me longer than anyone else now by far, and her days of being passed around like an STD in a whorehouse are over! I wouldn't give her up for a million dollars...

      To bathe a cat correctly you need a "kitty be good stick." If Mittens starts to try and un-ass the bathtub, just apply the "kitty be good stick" liberally about his head and shoulders. Be careful. He'll try to rocket out of the tub first thing so you'll need to be quick with the first "kitty be good stick" application. After the initial application Mittens might appear to be injured. That is just cat trickery, as they are related to possums and will feign injury. Mittens isn't injured. He is only resting and gaining strength for his second attempt at freedom, so another thorough application might be needed. Remember to use your "kitty be good stick" liberally and often to ensure that Mittens has a great bath time experience!

    • @kristinlong2278
      @kristinlong2278 Před 3 lety +47

      Princess YuBeace exactly. My cat has Matt’s on her belly but the vet wants 170-400 depending on the amount of sedation and time needed to shave her. At home she lets me brush her but not her belly so that’s gotten matted. She has been trained to go outside but stay in our yard. I can put a leash and harness on her and she won’t fight or bite, I can trim her nails and wash her ears. Those saying it’s poor pet ownership that they are like this at the vet don’t know what they are talking about. The only time she has ever known pain was at the vet. She’s had shots, two physicals (shes 3) and was fixed at 6 months and she KNOWS what the vet is. It’s not a happy place. Her tummy is also very sensitive and I can’t dematt it without her getting angry. I’ve tried and I think it hurts so she lets me know to back off. She’s not mean and she’s not dumb. She answers when I call her to come in from out back and wakes me up if I sleep in and breakfast is late by pulling down my blanket and kneading my chest or “combing” my hair with her claws. She’s an angel except if you touch her belly and I can’t blame her. But for those who say it’s poor pet parenting... you can kiss my behind. It’s not.

      @@kristinlong2278
      You are exactly right, my friend. People who comment nonsense like that obviously don't know anything about cats in particular-- or they simply don't pay nearly enough attention to animal behaviors specifically related to cats. Every single cat has such distinct personalities, quirks, and traits. They can't be compared to any other domestic pet-- or even to each other most of the time-- because they are just too different. And that's not a bad thing for people who adore them just as they are-- and on their own "cat terms".
      As you I'm sure you know, cats are extraordinarily intelligent, and their memories are long. They rarely forgive easily (if at all), especially when compared to our canine pals who most of the time will forgive too easily and too often. How any cat behaves at any time, especially away from home, rarely has anything to do with "pet parenting"-- that is just absurd. For one example, we don't socialize cats in the same way that we do (should!) socialize dogs. It is simply about personality traits, unique personal cat experiences, and hundreds of thousands of years worth of genetic programming. It's almost like they really *_are_* from another world, LOL!
      Vets are traumatizing to almost any animal who has had vet care, but especially vet care that involves any traumatic injury/illness, or surgical. You are right again-- vet = pain and fear. People should think about it like this: they not only *_experience_* pain and fear upon themselves, but they also *_smell_* injury, sickness, and even *_death_* at any vet office. They *_sense_* pain, fear, distress, etc. from both animals and humans-- in the entire building. I know those feelings all too well, and now I have PTSD that is medical trauma-induced. Imagine if you just can't understand any of the *_why,_* which is hard enough to understand if you are human and can speak.
      If I could, I would *_show_* you how to safely clipper the mats and fur off of your kitty's belly-- with much less trauma, stress, and/or expense as at any vet office. It's no fun for either of you, but it is doable-- though while doing it you might not feel too sure about that. Still, I've even clipper-shorn feral cats who were injured-- that's "fun", lol. Maybe you can search CZcams? There could be someone who has made videos of some methods or ideas to clipper cats? There seem to be videos on "how-to" everything else nowadays!
      _Note:_ Men's beard clippers work well, but make sure the clippers don't get too hot (check all clippers often for heat). Be careful not to nick them-- use a half-moon motion-- start level with the cat's body, and then sweeping upward away from the cat's body. Also, try to hold the skin taught (stretched tight) to avoid nicks. I could try to comment how I've done things, but it would be really lengthy.
      Please heed another bit of loving advice with whatever you may try-- *_do not_* ever use scissors on your cat-- any cat. Scissors are a perfectly dangerous opportunity for something *_really_* bad to happen to you or to your cat.
      Sorry this comment got so long! Good luck to you and your furry little girl. The mats are most certainly hurting her, bless her, because they pull and pinch the skin so hard. Maybe why she hates to be touched there-- it already hurts enough?. I am wishing you the very best. Be safe and be well. ~Peace!

      The only thing is, SOMETIMES, it helps to have the owner there to calm the animal. As long as the owner is calm, it shouldn't be a problem. But that isn't always a possibility.

      My cat is a extreme coward and if she dosnt have a place to hide it will become "agresive", the last time I took her to the vet she could barely move because the pain of a infected uterus, and even with that, the vet needed double dose of anesthesia because she was fighting like crazy. She got surgery and the next morning all the vets at the clinic were asking us "is she always like that?" and next to her I saw writed "extremely violent- caution-" LOL she is not the tipical "do me whatever you want" cat, but she is super fond and affectionate to the people of the house. Yeah if you're not trying to break it's bones. Cats are capable against things that aren't trying to actually hurt them like the alligator that didn't understand what it was and thus unable to determine where the cat was in comparison to itself on the food chain. Cats at least house cats aren't really scary they're just pains in the a*s which is why dogs are much more fun to hang with you don't need a silly ritual everytime you deal with them.

      Youve obviously never seen what a 20 lb house cat can do if it attacks a human. If a cat wants to fuck you up and you dont manage to block it when it leaps on you youre getting torn to shit. Could a cat kill a healthy adult human, no. Can they blind you (they instinctively will try to claw eyes), cause massive infection with their bites and tear you to the bone, yes.
      A 20 lb cat is way more dangerous than a 20 lb dog. Most cats arent going to full on attack a person, though.
