    Just replaced the original radiator in my 1989 Toyota mr2. It’s almost impossible to imagine one radiator could survive 185,000+ miles over the course of 31 years. But it did.

    Super helpful! I just started working on a 1987 AW11 that is my first ever project car, and this video was well done and will definitely be my guide for replacing the radiator. Thank you!

    Cool video as always, dude. :)
    My new radiator should be here next week. The install will probably wait until I decide to reroute my intercooler piping, since it's all roughly in the same area and both jobs involve removing and refitting hoses and pipes.
    All of this will happen in my backyard, so finger crossed for fair weather. :)

      The fingers, they are crossed for you and all backyard mechanic brethren out there!

    Oh so the coolant temperature sensor is in the radiator! Cool

    When emplacing a new radiator, I like to have the unit covered with cardboard to help protect the fins.

    Like your Toyota. I have a Chevy crude and I need to remove the radiator. Those GM swine enginee put so many stuff in front of the radiator.

    Gonna do my AW11 radiator this spring! Is it that hard to bleed the cooling system? I’ve heard it is but I doubt it

  • @RagnaHades
    @RagnaHades Před 5 lety

    Was wondering what hose size did you use to attach to the bleeder valve ? Thank you!

    • @d4a
      @d4a  Před 5 lety

      I think it's a 10mm internal diameter, but I'm not 100% sure. Either that or 8mm.

    Please, where could i find a new radiator like that?

    • @d4a
      @d4a  Před 3 lety

      I found it through a local radiator repair business that has some links in Netherlands. The owner of the business liked the AW11 so he made calls to Netherlands and found it. I doubt I would have ever found it otherwise.

    While adding coolant was the car running with the heater on?

    • @d4a
      @d4a  Před 4 lety

      No, coolant is bled differently on the AW11

    • @MARK-gz7sj
      @MARK-gz7sj Před 4 lety

      driving 4 answers ahhh okay gotcha, so just put it in hot without the car running and fill it up?

    • @MARK-gz7sj
      @MARK-gz7sj Před 4 lety

      One more question if you don’t mind me asking, if the car is off and not running, what exactly does putting it in the hot settings do?

    • @d4a
      @d4a  Před 4 lety

      It opens a coolant circuit (pathway) that would otherwise remain closed and could cuse air to get trapped there and then circulate that large air bubble through the system causing all sorts of problems.
