Guam has been a U.S. Territory since 1898. Guamanians are United States citizens. I was last time I was in Guam was 1980. Unfortunately no museum was there then. Guam is just north of the Equator. Tropical doesn’t begin to describe how bad the heat and humidity is.
An interesting story about Japanese Holdout on Guam is Sgt. Shōichi Yokoi who held out near the Talafofo river on the south east side of the island until 1972.
The US left the island and her people completely defenseless. I just want to emphasize this important fact- completely defenseless! Yet another military documentary with no war perspective from natives that helped the Marines take back their island from the Japanese. This is a bit of a one sided perspective no? War reparations for the Chamorro people now!
Im from guam. I grew up in asan. So grateful for their sacrifice. May they rest in peace
