“Say What You Will” about MYLES KENNEDY, the dude can shred. Back after three years for his third solo album, The Art Of Letting Go (out August 9 via Napalm Records), KENNEDY dropped a thoughtful rocker with bombastic riffage and a flypaper chorus that will stick the hook to your subconscious.
The music video was directed by Gordy De St Jeor (Mammoth WVH) and tells the story of a bullied and timid student who breaks out of her shell with the help of a teacher, janitor and lunch person portrayed by Kennedy and his band in the school talent show. Kennedy helps us kick off our summer break (I wish) with an optimistic and thoughtful kickass rocker.

His solo stuff is all over the place - often in a good way, but if you find you're not digging the first thing you reach for, don't get discouraged.

Myles Kennedy is such an accomplished musician and incredibly gifted vocalist! His solo stuff is usually reserved for his musical influences, such as Americana, blues, jazzy type stuff; that he normally cannot do / doesn’t fit with his main gigs in AlterBridge or SMKC. It is excellent singer-songwriter stuff generally, with some exceptional nuggets of pure gold. This new song (and likely album) is a departure in that, he has gone full electric rock here. I’m here for it, but it does sound a bit SMKC-ish, when I much prefer AlterBridge, his solo work, or even prior to that, The Mayfield Four.
It’s still a good song with a strong guitar solo, and cool instrumental breakdown near the end of the song’s general riff/jam. My guess is that he wants to feature his electric guitar that he got a signature model to his personal specs with PRS last year? It does sound great!
Looking forward to hearing more from the new album!💪
