- Today I'm reviewing the highly customisable NYXI HYPERION Joycons for the Nintendo Switch. These are a really incredible addition for the Nintendo Switch and I really like them a lot.

Thanks! I have last year's version of these nyxi joycons and I love them. Not to mention they have really good customer service. One of my shoulder buttons ended up breaking. I asked them to send me a new shoulder button so could fix it and nyxi sent me a whole new one no problem. Well worth it to buy these for sure!
I like that the buttons are like engraved instead of painted on, so there's no wear over time.
If the centre slot piece isn't manufactured very well you could probably take a joycon grip and take off the grip part which would make basically the same thing but with official joycon rails which could help prevent that wear and tear on the right nyxi joycon like you mentioned
I think I'd prefer to keep the original joycons intact and live with it the sketchy Nyxi centerpiece 😅
@@RetroBreezeYT no I meant the joycon grip, the thing you slot them into to make a seperate controller, you can unscrew the handles off it and be left with the centrepiece similar to what's included with the nyxi
I wonder if you did that with a charging grip if the controllers could get charged through it instead of needing to be docked on the console or independently charged. well, I ordered a set of these controllers last week, guess I'll experiment when they get to me lol
@@Orion_Alathorn don't see why it wouldn't work, and even if it doesn't I highly recommend doing it with a regular joycon grip, did it to mine when j got my nyxi joypads in the mail and it's a way better connection then the plastic on plastic connection of the stock adaptor
Sold out, hopefully they re-stock soon! So much difficulty to get a quality controller of any kind for the switch...
Still not
Back in stock. Just got them.
Good to know it's easy on the wrists, I just ordered these and currently having a bout of carpal tunnel or something
Yeah these are still my go-to when my wrists are acting up!
for those still waiting for the nyxi controllers to come back in stock, I would highly recommend the MOBAPAD controllers
Ehemm.. Iine Elite Plus Joypad.. Try to check that out especially the Splatoon design one.. Look really cool..
I got the sew through ones and am really pleased with them
Those look great!
Seems like a nice JoyCon replacement, although with the grip, I don't understand why they couldn't just make it a rechargeable grip.
Both controllers need to be charged separately, so why not make the grip that makes them work as one controller be rechargeable?
Yeah, you can charge them with the Switch Dock when they're connected to the system, but still.
Great idea, perfect solution!
just dock them damn

Oh, hush
I'm extremely confused here. There doesn't seem to be any information on split play specifically for motion control. Like demonstration of playing Splatoon for split play motion control as well as exercise games that use motion control. How good this functions for motion control in split play with controllers in separate hands.
You're right, I didn't cover that particular use-cade
I can't find any review that does and until I do, I am not buying these
I have the exact same problem with the center piece slider albeit on the left
Where do you guys get those back covers which protects the back of the Switch oled whilst using these hyperion controllers in handheld mode?? I cannot find one for the life in me. I'm looking for one that is preferably flexible and smooth on the inside so it won't tarnish my TotK back
A big improvement on the previous version
What is the best, the hyperion or the athena ?
My neighbor has a set which I loved so I ordered my own. Never came, tracking went dead. Customer service won't respond. Very disappointed.
I would say the worst thing about these joycons is the dpad. It's worse than any other dpad I've tried (Nintendo and Sony), even the stock joycon buttons. It in fact does use a rubber membrane and the problem is NOT the clicky switches. I suspect it is the design and height of the dpad plastic by Nyxi that makes it almost impossible to do diagonals. After some trial and error, I swapped in a different dpad (from an aftermarket SNES controller), along with some rubber spacers placed underneath the Up and Right directions and some double sided adhesive on the circuit board underneath the dpad center pivot. so I could rock the dpad around in all 8 directions comfortably. There is no disassembly guide, but you don't have to disconnect any ribbon cables or the battery to do this mod.
I have buy this one, work well on switch, but unfortunately not work on steam deck, show connected, but won’t let me move any direction, only few buttons can use, like 2-3 only…..
Have you tried changing the Steam input configuration?
@@RetroBreezeYT Yup, i have tried combining joy con/separate both controller, same happened
PS: And also try reset steam input configuration
@@paperkit8695 Ah thats a shame. Ah well, I suppose they're not intended to work that way so I can't really be mad!
What is the white case you have on the switch? Also, do you have any issues with the left controller wiggling when in handheld mode like its not secure on the device
Imagine buying multiple official joycons
Would you recommend nexigo or binbok joycons over this ones?
I really don’t like the l3 r3 thing
Can you remap the face buttons via the Nintendo Switch system settings? I am hoping to flip the A&B, X&Y buttons to match the xbox layout?
Can these be used as individual joycons for multiplayer games like Mario party?
I heard the left side is awkward to use
At 1:00, what is the name of the phone cooler you're using?
It's a BlackShark Magnetic Cooler. I'm not sure if it has some other name 😅 I don't use it anymore because the sticky pad kept coming off 🙁
IIne Elite Plus Joypad is also exacly like this with 100% same feature but one thing I like about IIne Joypad is they have Splatoon design theme and really cool funky looking..
Isn't the iine splatoon ones a bit shorter?
@@markaznar1979 No.. Exactly same size.. Same everything.. But different Brand name..
How do they hold up 10 months later, any technical issues developed over time?
Hi can you turn off the back macro buttons? Incase I'm always pressing them accidentally
My right one disconnects constantly, no other joycon does it, anyone know how to fix?
Do these use Non drifting Hal Sticks?
Definitely not. Pretty regular sticks.
Anyone having issues with them randomly disconnecting?
This joycon works on steamdeck and pc well too?
Someone is half way lying 🤥. These are phenomenal l!
Are the buttons on the controllers click or mushy?
"Thunky", they're membranes
Can i use them on pc?
Can you read amiibos with this?
Thanks for the nice review!
Your coupon code doesn't work unfortunately.
These NYXI Hyperion are the EXACT same as the BinBok joycons, quality control issues with them, probably won't even last a year.
Which game are you playing on 1:16?
Crisis Core Reunion!
@@RetroBreezeYT thanks a lot!
Is that xenoblade your playing?
Nope, it's Crisis Core Reunion
@@RetroBreezeYT hmm don’t think I’ve heard of it
Whats better this or the Hori split pad pro?
This cause Hori can’t be used wirelessly and separately as two controllers
what case do you have on Swith?
Playvital- review on my channel!
What was the game on the backround? 15:41
Crisis Core Reunion
@@RetroBreezeYT thank u!! BTW great video
Where can I buy?
Are the sticks magnetic or like the switch official joycon?
They're physical sticks, not magnetic
@@RetroBreezeYT thank you. Maybe I will get the game cube version that has the magnetic one
Do these drift? I gotta know
I've never had drift on any stick ever so eh, I think that problem is way overblown outside of the Switch and in many cases empty marketing. However a direct answer after 3 months of 2-4 hour use every single day- no drift.
@@RetroBreezeYT thanks, and also is there a difference between the hyperion and athena if you know?
Do nyxi can connect on Pc and phone? Thanks
I've heard they can connect to a PC, but I'm not sure about how well it will work because the two joycons are independent of each other.
@@RetroBreezeYTyou can use a utility on windows called BetterJoy, it was created to allow all the switch controllers to work on windows emulating an Xbox 360 controller. It allows you to use the joycons separated as two controllers, or to combine them together and they’re treated as one.
@@RetroBreezeYT Do these COntrolers use the Hal effect josticks I hear are Drift free?
@@Rashala no they're pretty cheap regular joysticks
Can you use it in dock mode
Yes
Thank u
YOO I LOVE ALL YOUR VIDEOS EVERY VIDEO MAKE ME LAUGH YOU'RE REAL TO ME I LOVE HOW YOU POST EVERYDAY YOU PUT ME ON MY GRIND. I POST GREAT Videos (ROAD TO 2k)
Do they have HD rumble and gyro?
Gyro yes, HD rumble no
Thumbs down! Really no info here. Doesn't explain how well it functions in regards to dead zone. And also importantly when using for split grip motion control. How accurate is the motion control for proper aiming.
Can you bind the paddles to function as a turbo button for a trigger?
My rgb leds defaults back to red overtime, anyone else have this issue?
Yep, I mention it in the video!
