  • University of San Diego students in Environmental and Ocean Sciences, EOSC 494 - Coral Reefs, Sea-Level and Climate Change researched coral reefs in San Salvador, Bahamas over spring break.
The students in this class stayed at the Gerace Research Centre and studied the long-term changes in coral reefs and carbonate sedimentation as well as how the changes affect the shape of the landscape. They also looked at the history and culture on this small island with a population of around 1500 people.
Under the guidance of Environmental and Ocean Sciences Professors Sarah Gray and Eric Cathcart, the class also looked at how climate change and people have impacted the reefs.
Thank you to the Chapman Family Foundation International Program’s generous gift that helped make this trip possible!
