      I love it too, I think it's also my favorite movies bar none ever. Took all three of my kids to see it last year a week before Christmas and was almost a transcendent experience. First time all three of my kids went to a theater and kept quite without a bathroom break. We all walked out of the theater almost glowing. Still holds up btw, I recently re-watched it and hot damn does this film still hold up.

      if that someone you're talking about is spider man 616, then you're wrong. the original spider-man hasn't forgotten how to be a superhero, he still is The Amazing Spider-man. The Spider-man the people in his world still look up to, but a very down on luck Peter Parker. and that's what makes this movie so amazing. It tells a very interesting story about the new Spider-man without being disrespectful to the original.

      @@derryljevon1357 No what I said still stands to me. Peter Parker is always down on his luck, the point is, is that he always gets back up. This Peter hasn't done that for a while, his marriage with MJ fell apart and he has been scared to try and move on and fix his relationship, he gets angry and dismissive when he's reminded of his Uncles vow etc. None of that is what Spidey does, he rediscovers his courage again and that's through teaching Miles and watching him grow. I think you misunderstood me, he still does all the hero stuff and I'm sure people on his earth still love him, I was talking more about how he feels internally about himself and his outlook on life.

    I'm black and I remember that when Miles was introduced back in 2011, I didn't give a care in the world about him because it looked like a weak attempt to throw a black character into the media. I always hated that when people say they need more diverse characters, they immediately think of a black person. After the movie came out 7 years later, Miles Morales has become my personal favorite of Spider-man; not for his race but how is was so expertly handled in the movie. One of the things that made me love Miles so much when watching Into the Spider Verse was that he is an original character of story. How? because so many black characters that are made, the story line behind the character has to fight through is always the whole fighting against discrimination and prejudice crap; that story line for black characters has been getting old. Miles' story is completely different, original, and can relate to other people.
    Another thing I like about Miles in his movie, he is a hero who does not try to fight for a girl. A hero doesn't always need to have some girl in his fucking life as a prize in his hero work; no kissing scene whatsoever for Miles as a hero, I swear, if I see the girl getting introduced as the character's crush by watching her walk down the school hallway in slow motion and waving her hair to the side and smiling at others one more time, I will give the producers a black eye.
    And lastly, Miles' motivation is completely justifiable. Ever since I was 14, I always hate how teenage characters in animated stuff or movies are always rebelling against their superiors or elders and not following orders believing that they can fucking do shit on their own as if they are fucking ready. Just like how my classmates rebel against our teachers. Miles is actually rebelling because he made a promise and wishes to keep it and doesn't want to let the person he made that promise to down, and I freaking admire that! It reminds me when I went behind my parents back to get some meat, crackers, juice, bread, chips, and water in a bag and my brother and I would take the bag to this homeless person who need it. I admire teens who rebel against their elders for a good reason and only when the elder is being a complete shit case. Also, he feels guilt for doing nothing to help so he is trying to make up for it. He is a teenager who is rebelling for good reason. I freaking love that. I had Miles all wrong back in 2011 but thanks to Into the Spider Verse, I have a new found respect for him and he is my personal favorite as Spider-Man. I don't like characters because they are the same color as me, I like a character just as character, how his/her story goes to make me like them and how I feel relatable to them. I have been in Peter Parker's shoes before but I am black. I don't need to relate to someone because of skin color. I relate to characters not because they look like me, I relate to them because they are a human being like me. Spider-Man has been my favorite superhero since 2001 so I say "EXCELSIOR"!

      @Immanuel Ntim-Addae So you are implying that it should be customary for a black character to speak in slang? We don't make characters based on label stereotypes. I'm black and if you have seen my videos, you would know I don't speak slang. Also, dealing with a black character, you say? HOW?! Writing a black character with what the character is supposed to sound like and experience in the life of being black? Not all blacks deal with all of that you know.

    • @bronosx2246
      @bronosx2246 Před 4 lety +38

      @Immanuel Ntim-Addae Black personality that you will find anywhere? The comics may have been pathetic but the movie did Miles justice. I loved Spiderman since 1999 back when I was a young as child. I never thought I would ever hear myself say that I like Miles better than Peter. I have seen enough of that slang shit for one day. You don't need him to speak in slang to show us that he is different from Peter; Miles has other things that demonstrates that he is clearly different from Peter Parker.

      @sociallyineptspider-man2366 Před 4 lety +12

      I understand where you're coming from but it would be interesting to see miles's background be explored more, you probably think I sound too "sjw" but racism is a real issue that still exists and affects so many people, so as long as the person writing the story knew what they were talking about or are poc themselves I think that would be a very interesting and important part of the marvel universe to explore

    • @bronosx2246
      @bronosx2246 Před 4 lety +29

      @@sociallyineptspider-man2366 Racism is an important thing to be explored and I always encourage it to be explored. Now, you are probably wondering, 'How can I say that after I specifically said in my original comment about exploring discrimination for a black character is getting old?' I get that and I am all for exploring discrimination and I am a black man. I think the reason I am getting bored with it is because blacks are always being used for the issue and it's understandable. I guess I just like seeing original black characters, like Cyborg from Teen titans. He is an original black character for me not because he is black like me but because of the struggle he faces which is that back when he was an athlete, he could always push himself to be better, faster, and stronger with each workout but now since his body is mechanical, he can't push himself like he use to and can only give a 100% limit. Something like for a character is easy to feel sorry for and have sympathy for.

    • @bronosx2246
      @bronosx2246 Před 4 lety +17

      @@sociallyineptspider-man2366 Besides, there is another reason why I am glad that Miles Morales' fight against discrimination isn't addressed: Because if it happens, it's the whites I am worried about. The whites will be saying 'Oh yet another message with blacks complaining about discrimination. We are in a better time now and blacks are being treated better.' Whites would be saying all this and would be so oblivious to the situations that many blacks are going through these days in, say it with me, 2019! Yet, it's still happening. I guess the reason why that kind of issue is not being mentioned with Miles Morales is because if it did get explored, whites would be defensive and pissed and will say horrible things in the comments about blacks and it would make me feel bad because words can really hurt. I tried to solve a problem with a racist once and was the nicest I can be and he still said such awful things that hurt.

I don't feel that writing commentary on any tv show or movie with a hero or super hero can be fully analyzed without consulting Joe. Especially when the Spiderverse clearly displays this idea of the Hero dawning a thousand faces. The hero can be anybody. And through your video essay the answer is that we create the hero by being our true authentic unfiltered self.

      It could be "Boarders" as in the boards (planks) we put up on windows to shut them out from the outside world.
      Very fitting for the statement being made and thematically just as relevant.
      Atleast that's how I read it.

      @@awesomesharkhand1876 Thank you! And orignally it was because I was remaking them but now I've decided to just replace the thumbnail card. But now I also want to distill my library of work so there's a better continuity of quality. But I think I'll put the links of the unlisted old stuff on twitter at some point :)

    I became the best me when I start living in the full truth and nothing else. It was very scary at first it was truly something I never did before. And but after living a lie for all my life with a few flashes of truth here and there. I knew if I was going to for fill my destiny I had to except the fact that I had to tap into the unknown. And almost 10 years ago I took a leap of faith. And after many sleepless nights I am finally coming into fullness of what I was created to be.

    Funny how this video, perhaps unintentionally but is a good video to use as a criticism of changing characters from appearance, to behavior and the actions they take, without renewing them.
    Miles Morales isn't an other Peter Parker Adaptation. Miles is his own contained character.
