The great Tony Williams. A voice second to none, along with Jackie Wilson. It's a goddam shame that there are hardly any more real singers around. What the hell happened? I'm glad I grew up with the real deal.

My late hubby loved this song. He took me to see The Platers twice. Once when we were dating, and for our 35 wedding anniversary. It puts a smile on my heart today when I hear these songs,

The Platters are the ones that got me hooked on 50s and 60s Doo-Wop music! Please go down the rabbit hole with The Platters!!! My favorites of theirs are My Prayer, The Great Pretender, Smoke Gets In Your Eyes, Twilight Time, You’ll Never Never Know, On My Word Of Honor, (You’ve Got) The Magic Touch, and I’m Sorry.

For sure - and Tony Williams was the GOAT.Yes,even ahead of Nat King Cole and Sam Cooke.

Great reaction. Also grew up listening to 50's music as a kid and into my teens. Loved the sound and reminisce about how the world was back then, miss it. Imagine someone trying to steal that sound system today! We had the same stereo!

The platters were the best. Also listen to The Righteous Brothers: unchained Melody, You lost that loving feeling, Soul and Inspiration, Summertime, You'll never walk alone, Ebb Tide, Latin Lupe Lu and more.

First record I ever brought. 78 speed from G.C.Murphy Co. They were sold out of Elvis and this was next best.

My man. The vocalists of that bygone era were ALL singers. No label would record you if you couldn't sing. It went without saying. Today? Forget it. Lost cause. Pathetic.
