Malik Mixon Hurdle Drilling May 26, 2024

This video features video clips filmed my Malik Mixon’s dad during a training session yesterday. Malik, whom I had worked with often during his high school years, and who completed high school two years ago as the top 110 high school hurdler in the nation, came up for some hurdle training as he returns from an Achilles tear that occurred in his freshman year of college. So this session was just as much about getting his confidence back as it was about getting his rhythm back. His dad recorded some of our conversations between reps as well, so I decided to keep all of that in here, uncut, so you can get a feeling for the vibe of the whole session, and for how Malik and I interact with each other. You may need to turn up the volume to hear some of the dialogue, but it’ll be worth it because it reveals a lot about how I coach, and what a sacred obligation it is to help an athlete who is recovering from a major injury to regain the fire and desire that made him great to begin with.
