Many years ago when I was a young soldier I was in the mess having a cool one and overheard a couple of SARS guys talking about a rescue they had made. Apparently they had been flying over a large chunk of boreal forest looking for a lost Indian. From miles away they spotted a hunter orange thing on the top of a tree glowing like a Christmas angel. So the Herc moved in and sure enough there was something in 'hunter orange" on the top of a big old Jack Pine. They dropped a jumper in and sure enough at the base of the tree, snug as a bug, was the hatless Indian. He had managed to climb the tree and put his hunter orange toque on the top of it. His snow machine was broken down and bad weather had made him just make camp and wait for help. I never forgot that, an orange toque at 5 or more miles had brought help to a stranded person, I can't even imagine how effective that flag would have been.
A J Taylor my ex gf wad stranded and put her pink scarf on a tree... rescuers saw that from miles
You can assemble a kit with the same functionality for 50 dollars.
I can't even watch this, the comments say it's terrible and I can't take this guy seriously wearing dicked up ACU's
That "orange thing" is called a marker panel. It's used for marking your position while waiting to be found or picked-up. That's why it's blaze orange with the reflective stripes.
With the gloves I believe that they were more associated with the scalpel because if you are having to be around someone else's blood, its good to have that protection .
I don't know why but I saw the whole video smiling. Guys you are really fun to watch on screen. Really funny jokes every now & then. Keep it up guys you ROCK!
THOSE BULLETS THOUGH!
This is a pretty decent all around kit in my opinion. Im not so sure about it being labeled exclusively as an evasion kit (with all that fire stuff), but it would definitely work in most if not all situations. there is plenty of stuff to do what you need.
Only thing I don't like about those bivy sacks is the amt of moisture retention. in the end it can be worse for you than just making a snow shelter or ground shelter.
Thanks for going to the time and expense to do such a thorough review. I really enjoy your videos. Keep up the great work!
Thanks man. Our pleasure.
Ultimate Survival Tips God this is going to kill me if I don't say anything about this.... His ACU's are so out of regulation! Collar is fu*ked up worse than a football bat, his writing utensil isn't in the correct spot, and his shoulder pockets are fu*ked up. If you're in the Army, you'd better notice this too or else your fu*ked up worse than two boys in a closet.
hi guys, the greatest results that I have ever had was by following the Survivor Crusher System
(just google it) definately the most helpful preppers i've followed.
I've been studying survival and discovered a great resource at Survivor Crusher System (google it if you are interested)
Don't buy survival kit before you read my review. Go to *williamreviews(dot)net/survival-kit-review/*. Thanks, Darrel.
Interesting kit....a few items I haven't seen in other kits.
Also.....gotta love the 1970s porn music in the background.
LOL its peewee herman flirting with bazooka joe non stop!
XD WTF
Does anyone else notice that this guy has no patches on. There's no US flag on the right shoulder, name tag on right breast, US Army tag on right chest, or a unit patch on his left or right arm, and lastly he has no rank on his chest. I currently serve as active duty soldier and it kinda pisses me off that he's wearing this uniform completely out of regulation.
+Nikalaus Peiler I was never in the military, so I don't understand where you are coming from. If there are no patches anywhere, and he is not representing himself in any way an active duty soldier, then isn't it then NOT a uniform, but just clothing?
+Thomas Maresh it is a US Army uniform regardless and is issued to US Army soldiers as their duty uniform. It is by no means ok for anyone who is not enlisted and on duty to be wearing that uniform with or with patches.
+Nikalaus Peiler it is also cammo trousers and jacket. mabey he has multiple, he might like the design/warmth of them.
+Nikalaus Peiler That's complete nonsense. Without patches, this is just clothing, and you can buy it at any army surplus store. Many of us have served in the military. Millions have. You don't get to say what anyone not in the military can wear, or how they wear it. As long as the person is not representing himself as an active duty soldier, or as a soldier at all, really, you don't have to like it. That's what the freedom you're supposed to be fighting for is all about.
STOLEN VALOR
You guys are such a great duo, and always informative, thank you David
At $129 I thought this was pretty high, but I could justify it for the simplicity of not having to put it all together (that's actually the part about these kits that I like most, though) but at $250 this is highway robbery.
They should have added salt in tablet form for dehydration.
Those sunglasses are cool they could prevent from snow blindness if you were in a snowy place
The first thing I'd want to do with the piece of orange cloth is put it on the ground/surface so I didn't loose any of the small items when looking through the kit. I did like that you said ''know your equipment'' as I've seen people buy survival tins and throw them in the bottom of their backpack/belt kit like owning one is enough. thanks for the vid!!!
emergency reflector flag is a signal panel, useful for combining with movement to get the attention of search and rescue aircraft...
TWO HUNDRED FIFTY DOLLARS??!! DAMN!! I'll just build my own for A LOT less.
*****.......WRONG. Unless he changed it.
*****....If I did, it was an accident.
*****.....If I did it again, it was an accident.
CanisLupus24....
You can alot more for less.
First of all, i wanted to say you make great videos! Keep it up! Second of all, you should have him in more of your videos. You guys make a great team!
Very good survival kit thank you for putting all the time and effort into your videos keep them coming 👍
Another great video by David love all your videos very informative great job also love the humour when these two get together
Thanks Dave, I enjoy your reviews very much.
In the future I was hoping you could do a near woods edible and medicinal plants.
God bless and keep up the great work.
Saludos folks. Amazing kit. I concur with the addition of the nitrile gloves and sunglass. Well thought about placing nitrile instead of latex gloves since there is a chance of allergic reaction with latex and/ or the powder inside the latex gloves. Nice review guys.
Great video, great kit, and two great guys, thank you for a great review.
Thank you so much for your accurate reviews.. You do an awesome job thank you.. Ryan
The gloves an glasses were pretty cool being in such a small pack
love the eye protection solution - but for very cheap u can get a pair of tinted swimming goggles + they fold up only slightly bigger than the tube the rollup glasses came in + they are more usefull - it surprises me that u never see them(swimming goggles) in any1's BOB...
Thanks David I have purchased this product for my BOB
Well done; always good to have options in a small space. Options are critical and this tiny pack creates them. You could spend days in woods and surely have time investigating what you have in the pack....better to check beforehand.
I couldn't keep watching. Way too painful.
was it the sexy jazz music?
Martyupnorth haha i made it like 2 mins..
Was expecting them to start making out at any moment.
Not that I don't appreciate updates about cool gear stuffs, but an update to this showed up in my inbox, and this is a dangerous precedent to set with sponsored uploads being mixed with personal messages and comment responses.

Great review guys you always know how to make AWESOME videos
One snag with all this is that in a real evade and escape scenario you don't have all this kit handy. In a British SAS training mission you have next to nothing, not even any food unless you make a waypoint in time. Miss your rendezvous that morning and you go another day without food, and you don't have the time to be trying to catch anything either.
one of the things that miss in this pack is a little fix blade but in it is all what you need and i would be happy to have one, where i live i dont get this pack.
You the best Guide ever Sir.
Thanks For The Vids
I have used that pressure bandage before it does not last long velcro can rip it apart
That looks like a really nice kit! That being said, there are a few things that I would add and/or replace.
1) I'd replace both compasses. In my experience the ONLY button compasses that you can rely on are the ones from Tru-Nord. At $34 they're expensive for a button compass, but they work, and you can trust them. That's not something that can be said for any other button compass that I've ever tried! I would also replace the Silva with a good compass that has a sighting mirror. I use the K&R Alpin as my main compass, but the Suunto MCB Amphibian Compass is more compact, a lot cheaper and, if you drop it in the water, it floats. I carry a Suunto Amphibian as my backup compass, and I have a Tru-Nord on my para cord bracelet as the backup to the backup. Both would easily fit into the kit.

>>> Suunto MCB Amphibian Compass: amazon.com/dp/B002FA9GYE/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pd_S_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=30EHY1XZ0EJG7&coliid=I3SJTQXG4SQ5H6
2) I'd add either the ESEE Izula Gear Survival Card Set & the ESEE Izula Gear Navigation Card Set or the ESEE Rite in the Rain All-Weather Survival/Navigation Notebook. The notebook has copies of the cards built in, although it takes up a bit more space than the cards do. If you have the extra space in your kit take the note book if not take the cards. Either way there's a lot of helpful information there!
>>> ESEE Izula Gear Survival Card: www.amazon.com/dp/B00AQ62L3M/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=30EHY1XZ0EJG7&coliid=IB2LTD0YFBD6A

3) I'd for sure add a 100% cotton bandana or two if there's enough room in the pouch!
4) I'd add a Schrade SCPEN4O Tactical/Survival pen. Not only can you write in your ESEE notebook with it, but it also has both a ferrocerium rod, with a striker, and a signal whistle built in. Mine is in blaze orange, and I like it a lot!

5) I would most definitely add a real knife! Either a small multi-tool like the Leather Juice XE6 or a Swiss Army Knife like the Victorinox Swisschamp would make a great addition to the kit and take up very little space.
>>> Juice XE6: www.amazon.com/dp/B0013AQUQO/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=HWNSU14C2OJF&coliid=I1JI4ZGGLZIM5P

6) One of DMT's D3EFC 3-inch Dia-Sharp sharpening stones is no bigger than a credit card but can be very helpful in keeping your knives sharp! I actually carry one of the fine grit models in my wallet at all times, and it would make a great addition to a survival kit.
>>> Fine (600 grit) credit card size stone: www.amazon.com/DMT-D3F-3-Inch-Dia-Sharp-Sharpener/dp/B0001WP1J2/ref=sr_1_5?s=industrial&ie=UTF8&qid=1388202466&sr=1-5&keywords=DMT+3-inch+Dia-Sharp%C2%AE

Of all the things listed here the only ones that take up any space are the ESEE Survival/Navigation notebook, the knife & the compasses, but the compasses are simply replacing items already in the kit so there shouldn't be a problem there. If the notebook won't fit you can simply get the cards instead. They should easily fit. If you can't get the knife in there I'd find something to throw out to make room for it, because a good knife is the single most important survival tool there is! It should be easy to fit the Schrade Survival pen in there, and you get both a ferro rod and a good signal whistle with it, not to mention a good writing instrument, and a DMT Dia-Sharp® Credit Card Sharpening Stone is literally the size of a credit card. It's the least important of all the items I've listed here, but it's also the easiest to fit into the pouch. There's no real reason to leave it behind. A dull knife is a dangerous knife!
Hey David, great video! I was hoping you could do a knife comparison within the next few days or so. I would like you to compare the ESEE 3 and the Ontario Rat 3. It would be much appreciated!
Nitrile gloves are recommended for skinning game to prevent the passage of disease from the critter to the human.
A link to where we could just get those glasses would be cool. Most unique item in the kit I think.
Escape and Evade was a type of hide and seek game we did in JROTC were the the parents and officers had paintball guns and flashlights and we had to get to point to win without being shot
lol before the video I got a happy birthday Canada ad by a bunch of people from different countries. it was nice. but uhh one they said"thanks for taking in the refugees" I skipped the ad in a heart beat.
They should have added a CRKT mk5 so you have some type if blade you can use for a spear or cutting the para cord etc.
Very interesting kit and some cool stuff in there! I also love when you do reviews with Dr. Joe! :)
Surgical staplers can be purchased online for about $6. What do you think for the average person
would this kit be a good survival kit to keep in your hunting backpack
can somebody answer this question. Im make a wood burning stone with two cans and i want to know what i should use for a pan. I dont want to use a house cooking pan. I'd like to use something found in nature. Any suggestions???
30 degrees. Over here in the uk we are lucky to get 12 on a hotbday.
There's a couple of nice items in that pack. I like the ferrocerium rod. But $129 in insane.
uhm sir, chlorine tablets? are those chlorine are the same as the ones they use to disinfect swimming pools?
HERE IS A question for you-- why would a ball compass have 2 different not settings.
i found 1 with N marked on the top and south marked on the outer perimeter right next to the inner N marking
Just an idea but you could super glue the button compass to the bottom of the whistle and have a 2-1 deal kind of thing.
Good idea.
They make rolled up "sun" glasses for when you get an eye exam and they put that solution in your eyes that makes everything 10 times brighter. I have a pair of $5 sunglasses in my kit along with latex gloves. Joe you should know that blood drys out your hands. Great vid guys. But i still don't see $130 worth of products.
some cool ideas in this, esp the mini shades, but light sticks are dumb, same size you can get a one battery torch that also acts as a battery tester.
why would anyone want to dislike his videos? I love Davids videos
Solid kit. I've never seen glasses like that either.
I noticed on Amazon there are two bags the one In there views. Is actually $249.00. The small bag is $129.00
Nice review. What is the brand/name of the vacuum sealed bivy? & where can I buy one? Thanks!
Ah, Dano below is right, its a signal flag. U r going through a "Survival & Evade" bag. >> U would place it in a visible location, so rescue responders can see it. U would do as Dano said & tie it to a tree so a search party on the ground can see. But if u think u will be more likely to be spotted from the air > u would stake it flat on the ground in an open field or clearing
Insane, that is absolutely insane and you men are mad. 23 minutes worth of digging around in some compact 'survival' kit that was designed for some evasion process is pretty styling! i dig the fashion. We may see to this that everyone who bought those kits put them to good use, died trying, or donated them to a lost cause..
Ok new to channel, someone tell me if you're here, did David ever do time in the military? If so was it it Marines or a different branch?
TYVM
whats the best survival knife for 50 dollars? please I need to know I was looking at the schf14 or ka-bar warthog ,also the condor bushlore
I didn't quite understand! If I donate i will become a member?? So I can get the free whatever it's called - free monthly pack?
the light is also red to help see blood trails when tracking, also animals cant see red and or green lights.
Hi there just wondering where can I get one of these from as I live in new Zealand and ive tried looking on the auction sites here in nz and can't find any and ive tried amazon but they dont ship to new Zealand
Hi David, i checked the price of the kit on Amazon and it was like 230$. did you purchase it there or somewhere else?
PS: excellent review. Great job like always!
Nice thing about redundancy is that you can use the instructions as tinder as well.
Your bromance is rather distracting, but the kit is well stocked.
David,
Do you think for a knife review you could do a review of the Ka-Bar fighting utility knife. Thanks
Hey David have you ever used the mtech mx8054 if not would you consider doing a review on it ?
i like the saw thing and the fire starter kit
hi great work can you suggest or make review for a pair of gloves we can use, you know in survival situations as part of our outfits not just like working or bushcraft gloves , gloves that can used for multitasking like when you are in mountains so you need fingerless gloves for better grip and of course you need it for bushcraft, hunting ,i dont know fishing and all kind of stuff
What colour(s) paracord do you recommend because im planning to make one
Those gloves could be REAL useful in a jungle/forest area.
It would be excellent for getting a Poison Dart Frog off of you.
That will be great for no skin contact!
Hey David grey tongs from Missouri, what do you think of the Busse TGLB? Would you ever review it?
Hey this may sound silly but why don't most of these kits throw in the p-51 can opener? If you are running around evading things you probably eating sealed food. Sure it's not a big cost or space to throw it in but I feel like instead of 10 ways to make fire they could have included one way for you to open your food.
Very good comment and idea. Thanks
How about using the orange w/ reflective square as a Signal Flag. The grommets and bungie look like they would make it easy to attach to a small branch! (HaHa @ You Two)! Nice Kit & as always, great video.
Just some info, Silva has worked to produce an app called OS LOCATE which works on all IOS systems and now android and its free. No connection needed to work. Check it out and pass the word around. Its another way to confirm where you are and to get you safe.
Your link just takes us to Amazon. Where is the link to the product? It appears that you are just looking to get us to click and search Amazon so you can profit from what we buy.
Awesome Video Dude. Keep up the great work. Nick.
Really enjoyed the video. Thanks.
Can you do a video on the Tops B.O.B. Field craft knife, thanks!
The Red Light is also for reading maps
Weird, I didn't get one of those when i went through SERE School In Bridgeport....
Also you put the orange reflection tarp over your backpack so it is easily visible.
I don't know, but i get the impression that Dr. Joe is about to put it on David... They're laughing' a lil' too hard with each other... lmfao
Was there first aid stuff in the kit? Or did I miss that?
Looks like good value for money, I would never think of half the stuff in there, I probably wont be buying one because my priorities are to be found and get out alive, I hope they make an orang/neon coloured one.
Great insparation otherwise.~Sam
Omg these discussions are always so awkward i love it so much lololol
These guys sound awkward lol
red light DOES STILL RUIN NIGHT VISION any light will for that matter ,however red light is the light used as its effects arnt as strong as white light it still will affect night vision(always told wrong, just clarifying :) )
The link for the kit appears to be different then the one you reviewed? Can you confirm it's the correct one?
The "Operator Survival Kit" shown is going for $250 on Amazon as of this writing. The lesser $129 model doesn't include nearly as much.
rule #1 never forget your knife lol great vid
What cool about this video is there 's a lot of bromance going on :P love the kit btw.
David. Can you do a review about PUMA knives ? They are really good and some of them are really reasonable
just by looking at the compass i know where you guys took the picture
a lot of useful gear in that kit, it would be a great kit to keep in a car for emerg.
Indeed!
Hey david, could you do a review on the sog knife jungle primal
