"Pepperhead" has been an Ides of March live acoustic spotlight song for many years now. It really shows off our harmony blend combined with the true story tale of Al Kovarik, a fella that used to date my sister Janice back in 1955.
Al was a "James Dean" type of character (ducktail slicked-back hair, a pack of Luckys in his Ban-Lon shirt sleeve) who would pull up to our Wesley Avenue house in Berwyn in his top-down 1955 chartreuse-and-black Mercury Monterey (changed in this song to a blue DeSoto for singability!) complete with continental kit, side spotlights and blue-dot tail lights. Me, my sister and “Pepperhead” as he was nicknamed would lay rubber down Wesley to 26th Street, finally ending up at Tastee Freeze for an incredible hot fudge sundae -- Heaven for a 5-year-old-like me. I’d be moving the power windows up and down as we cruised.
Years later I ran into Pepperhead and he hadn’t changed a bit. Same cocky, confident look, same type of shirt, Luckys in place, a little grey around the temples, but still the guy I used to idolize.
Still wearing his leather jacket like a Purple Heart.

I believe I was responsible for having this song revived . Jim remembered it from one of my lost tapes

@@gf-qp6ke nope long gone . Someone stole everything and is using without permission. Long time ago . Can't trust people when they say they only wanted to borrow them.
You can't trust people. Thieves ! Jim played this year's ago when we seen SURVIVOR. I had taped it and years later Jim got a copy . I think he forgot about it . He made an official recording . He thanked me for bringing it to his attention.
That's interesting. I remember hearing this song live back in 2005 or so when I heard the ides of march live with Jim from survivor. such a great song
