That's how you steal a bike. Get a friend to pose as a camera man, get some bolt cutters, find a bike, cut it, if someone catches you then reveal the camera man and explain to them that you are filming an experiment and that it's your bike, they go "ohhhh okaaayyy", take the bike and leave. Thanks Casey!
Lucy Allsop We know that, but the point is that someone could do the same thing while really stealing someone else's bike and people wouldn't bat an eye probably.
And they won't believe you. So you gotta show them how many subscribers you got to prove that you don't care about a bike. Woops, wonder what happens next.
Basic statistics people, that was one sample! Do 100 each, Casey and Malik, in the same locations and see what happens! The bigger the sample size, the more reflective of the average case it is. I could flip a coin 5 times and get all heads. But flipping it 5000 times, I don't think so.

Some tips from Amsterdam (feel free to add!): 1. Only lock a bike that you can afford to lose on the street. Ie always keep your 1000eur+ Bianchi locked indoors. 2. Use a bigass heavy chain lock + a rear wheel ring lock (look them up, super useful) 3. Always lock it to something immovable 4. Put duck tape over front wheel bolts, seat post bolts etc. makes stealing these take a lot longer. You just need to makes it harder to steal than the next bike. Like the story of the 2 men chased by the lion, 'I don't need to outrun the lion, I just need to outrun you!' Peace!
when im drunken or really tired at night and i have to take a long walk home i usually have a lookout on schools and train stations for bikes that haven't been locked and then i "steal" them most of the time those bikes were already pretty broken like flat tires or something with the chain but it was okay and i dont think i harmed anyone with that

+POGphile it's not that we don't give a shit (i am a new yorker), it's just that so much shit happens here every day - you don't want to get tied up in some stranger's' shit and put yourself at risk. if a dude has no problem stealing a bike in broad daylight, maybe he has no problem carrying a concealed weapon and using it on you. i will say where new yorkers are concerned or express sympathy / attention / etc. is when a stranger on the street falls or is injured - lots of people will stop.
I never lock my $3000 titanium bike. In fact, whenever I drive it I never carry a lock. It goes inside with me wherever I eat. No place has refused me service. My bike weights 15 pounds (I just carry it over my shoulder) so its probably lighter than some girl's purse. It is very clean. I clean it after every ride.
mathlover101hotmail I call BS. You made the entire claim up thinking Titanium is light AND said the bike weights 15 pounds, while a carbon fiber folding bike is 18 pounds.
TheoryThinking That would be a cheap carbon fiber bike or an overpriced carbon fiber bike. You can build a sub 12 pound carbon bike for about $4k. Titanium frames are light. The frame itself is under 2.5 pounds.

Oh yeah, I've seen that one and the other Kryptonites. I was curious because I'm still shopping, so thanks for letting me know. I'm considering the New York Legend Chain 1515 as a possibility but that beast is apparently super crazy heavy.
Love how the uber-intelligent cops called the grinder a weapon :-) I understand why they called it a weapon, because they know people are scared of getting shot by cops and the cops will shot you if they think what you have is a weapon. They are playing dumb and at the same time passively threatening you. If a cop says to someone "Drop the weapon" that someone can either try to be a logical human being (mistake) and explain that it is not a weapon but a banana, or a carrot, or a bottle of water, or a dog toy. This will likely escalate the situation because you didnt immediately comply. Takes a special breed of person to want to be and become a patrol officer.
A grinder can be used as a pretty dangerous weapon you jackass. When confronting a thief the cops don't know if he's violent, crazy, what he is capable of. It's a fucking GRINDER capable of doing serious damage. Use your brain idiot.
maybe because, who would be "dumb" enough to steal a bike in bright day with loads of people walking by? most people would probably think, its his own bike. just my thoughts
Lol it happens all the time in a city. Why wouldn't they? Even in the unlikely event they get caught, the courts just give them a slap on the wrist, and they'll be back out stealing bikes again in no time.
did you expect anyone to stop you? Who's gonna take a chance to get into a fight or worse to get shot or stab for a freaking bike... I love your stuff usually but this one gets an E
Greg Skies yeah, no one cares until it's their stuff. That's the fucking problem. Some people dump as much into their bikes as a person would their car. I've even walked up on a thief and said "Hey, what are you doing to my bike?!" and they run off. They don't know that it ISN'T your bike, so wtf can they do?? Again, even quietly calling the cops to report a crime in progress makes a difference. Why would you want to be comfortable living and walking amongst criminals, no matter how petty you may believe them to be? Says a lot about you as a person. Learn to take some pride in your property and learn how to speak up when you see someone clearly doing the wrong thing. It's really not that difficult. Most bike thieves don't even carry weapons; they are too focused on trying to get the bike and focused on not getting caught.

"I've got my hood up, sunglasses on, trying to look as criminal as possible... " Hah! Luv it! 😎
Omg !!!! I watched this exact video in class about 2 years ago and laughed soooooo much !!!!!!! Hahahahaha
No one cares!
How would have you proved it was your bike?
Jack G. He has the key and unlocked it for them.
Gotta say you got some pretty sucky locks as well though... like, you wouldn't find any of those thin ass locks in Amsterdam haha
justin wells sorry to have to tell you but Amsterdam isn't the place you think it is
Oh yeah, I've seen that one and the other Kryptonites. I was curious because I'm still shopping, so thanks for letting me know. I'm considering the New York Legend Chain 1515 as a possibility but that beast is apparently super crazy heavy.
The greatest thing I've seen today
Love how the uber-intelligent cops called the grinder a weapon :-)
I understand why they called it a weapon, because they know people are scared of getting shot by cops and the cops will shot you if they think what you have is a weapon.
This is just brilliant!
IM late to the party my man.. good videos back than and great videos nowadays..
Fucks given: Zero :)
did you expect anyone to stop you? Who's gonna take a chance to get into a fight or worse to get shot or stab for a freaking bike... I love your stuff usually but this one gets an E
Call the cops on him? I don't live in the US so I dunno
NapturalDivinity nah......people don't give a flying rat's anus. If it's not their property getting stolen, why should they care.
Many thanks for ur video!
First time I see Casey writing 'I' and not 'i' (in the intro). SPOTED!
