I love carrot cake. Mama always made one for us at Thanksgiving and Christmas. My younger sister made all of us a book with her recipes after she passed away. We really miss her. If y'all are lucky enough to still have your mama, be sure to tell her that you love her every day

Hi , All the Carrot Cakes I've seen recipes of call for Pineapple in it . I've been around for a while & that's the way I've always seen & had them , with pineapple, That's part of what makes it moist on top of adding a little extra flavor. Now I want one 😊
Looks yummy. However better homes cookbook calls it a carrot-pineapple cake and then a carrot cake is only carrot. Doesn't matter what it's called it looks good. Trick for raisins is the flour However don't mix it by a mixer. Gently fold in by hand when you're done mixing. Sometimes I put some batter in the pan 1st and then fold raisons in the remaining batter and then put that on top the other batter. Love your channel.
Tammy, my mother was from Texarkana TX and pronounced Mrs just like you do! When you said it I thought of my dear long gone mother!! She didn't cook though. I took over cooking for our family of 6 when I was 12. She was glad to give it up! Lol lol. Your cooking is phenomenal. Have a great week!
My, My, My! I have gained 10 pounds just watching! Regarding your Strawberry Cream Cheese pie's graham cracker crust, you made reference that you almost always use store bought crusts, but in this case, it does not appear to be bought, but rather homemade. If I am correct, this video did not cover how to make this crust. Would you provide me with the recipe of the crust, or direct me where I can obtain it? Thanks again and I am so glad you watched and learned from your Mama and Grandma, and how they baked and cooked, as well as your own creations. You have done them so very proud! Tammy I’ve always been told to put meringue on hot filling as that helps cook the egg whites, I’ve never cooled any filling down before adding the meringue. Sure makes me wish I had a huge piece of Lemon Meringue pie and a big glass of iced tea. Yum.

My grandmother always lightly cooked the raisins in her small cast iron skillet with a little oil - just until plump. They seemed to stay pretty much in the middle of the cake. Your cake looks really delicious!!

I'm sure you're going to be busy cooking tomorrow for the holiday.I found some of the cake boards at Wal-Mart. I've had my raisins or berries go to the bottom even with putting flour on them. Tammy I don't know of any other way of keeping berries or raisins from sinking and I've been cooking since I was 9-10 and I'm 78 now but maybe one of your viewers will have some suggestions. I’ve never made a carrot cake or a hummingbird cake. I like them both, have no idea why I’ve never made one, oh haven’t ever made an Italian cream cake either. I may have to live another 80 years to get them made. 😊
You two are just the best, thanks for all the work you do and your sweet sister! I have two of these white mixmasters, my mothers and my husbands mothers and mine is silver! There were extra things to use at the top, maybe it was a juicer bowl, of course things have been broken. There was also a smaller bowl, great for whipping sweet cream or egg whites. I have the recipe book that came with mine, old and falling apart. These mixer are absolutely great. I gave mine to a grand daughter. 👍😎❤️

I have to disagree with you 1000% about any store bought crust being better than homemade, I hate the smell and taste of them, they taste and smell like Clorox, if someone has used one I’ll eat the filling and leave the crust. I think the only plus would be that it saves time. My Mom often would just make crusts and put them in her freezer, she and my aunties all were fabulous cooks and bakers, and their crusts would melt in one’s mouth. My cousin remembers her dad asking my Mom to make a big sheet of her homemade
yeast rolls and that’s what they’d have for dinner with homemade preserves and butter. I love how much my family cared about each other, no bickering ever….just respect for one another.

For the strawberry cake, my daughter is allergic to banana. Do you think it would work to add an additional can of crushed pineapple, maybe drain the second can as a substitute for the banana? I’d appreciate any suggestions you have. Thanks, Tammy. Strawberry cake is a family favorite.

Love carrot cake but no pineapple in mine.
I make mine without pineapple and raisins because….my chihuahua loves carrot cake and muffins(and I hate raisins and my daughter is allergic to pineapple) We always make her a tiny one without frosting and she’s so happy.

Ms Tammy and Mr. Chris I have not been able to watch your channel for some time. My device didn't work anymore because I dropped it lol. So a while before I could get another one... family got me one. Then I was having problems getting my CZcams account back because I couldn't transfer it from my old device. Plus I have been very sick in and out of the hospital for months. I am doing better now so trying to catch up on many of your videos. And from other people's videos that I follow also.
I use a mesh strainer for my cocoa powder... small one with a handle and don't have to use the bigger shifter I use for my flour. I remember you saying in one of your videos that you worked as a cake decorator. No wonder you are so good at making cakes.
I took a couple of Wilton cake decorating classes and used to make my family's birthday cakes and so forth when younger. You can get those cake boards at Walmart... many Wilton decorating items.

I have this exact mixer that came with 3 different bowls of different sizes That works with this mixer. It was my mother's Oh didn't use it much as it's almost like new Even though it's very old. I think I will sell it on eBay as I have a brand new mixer. Anyone who's interested get ahold of me
