    It's probably very safe to assume that the components listed on the website are outdated by now since CIG is in the process of refactoring component sizing and balancing due to the upcomming resource managment system. Thats why the more recently released ships tend to have smaller but multiple shieldgenerators for example compared to older ones with a single bigger one.

    i feel this ship is going to possibly increase by yet another 100-200m roughly - and get a MASSIVE overhaul since the Arrastra was released. There are a ton more things that have to be developed for this ship to become feasible. But i think its going to become more of a platform like the Rorqual in Eve online.
    Its size is going to require some ridiculous upkeep but i do feel the size of this ship is going to get upgunned, up armored and possibly even get a larger hangar for ease of transfer for mined goods to planet bases, and a med bay. Since she is an older ship this thing i feel is going to get far bigger than what we currently have info on since we havent heard anything really on it since 2017 and a lot in game has changed since then.
    I look forwards to seeing what comes with this behemoth of a ship. Given the very little we actually know on the ship it very well could come back with a total redesign and be the size of a Javelin for all we know haha. Time will tell.

    Not a player here so I don't know if such feature is already in the game or not, but I think that for such ships they should implement some kind of shared ownership, because something like the Orion is basically a mobile HQ, apparently needs a crew to function and is very costly so in my opinion it would come natural for interested people to acquire it by pooling their resources rather but here is where I see a potential problem: every player involved payed a share to buy the ship but in game terms only one of them will be its owner.

    The Orion is my most anticipated ship. A big profit maker, relaxing cooperative profession and RSI style is a great combination.
    I just hope CIG will give the Orion some sort of defensive properties rather than the planned one turret. No one would design a ship this big without some sort of countermeasures when the environment involves a fair chance of hostile encounters. I'm not asking to go toe to toe with capitals, just enough to drive off the odd lone fighter and shoot down torpedoes.

    Realistically, the minimum crew would be around 4 to pilot and laser operators, 2-4 for the drone bay operators, and another 2-4 for the Refinery (if it needs to be actively manned) and engineers to run around the dam thing incase things break. Which be the time this comes out, the engineering gameplay will be in full effect.

    • @BizzMRK
      @BizzMRK Před 8 měsíci

      CIG only really designed each job around 1 person (maybe 2 for the drone operators) and once life support comes online with the resource managment system your crew will be hard capped at 5 anyway. Refining really will just be sitting at a panel adjusting sliders and some minigame on there from what we have heard so about the Expanse, so having a second person or more wouldn't do anything. Engineering will also be optional for the most part if you maintain the ship properly at a station/repairdock outside combat unless you want to optimize/overclock equipment.

    • @USArmy31
      @USArmy31 Před 8 měsíci

      @@BizzMRK yeah one more thing to take into consideration is where each of these stations are located at. We got REALLY FUCKIN lucky with the Arrastra where the lasers and pilots seats are all in the same area. But in the Orion, I have a feelin that won’t be the case. I hope I’m wrong but no one knows.
      The refinery is 100% going to be in the back that’s not up debate. So maybe the refinery crew will also be the main engineering crew as well. But either way, there going to be ALOT of multitasking that’s going to be taking place.
      But yeah… I can see having a crew of 5/6 and you’ll be alright but honestly… most of these “minimum crew” conversations is going to have to wait until we know where all of these stations are going to be located

    Very informative, actually I think I'm considering getting the Arrastra, not really a miner but the prospect of going into the profession with a team sounds appealing to me. It must be said tho, I think CIG should really consider giving CAPITAL ships in the universe the ability to spawn players who are members of an Organization as well as being able to spawn a ship inside the CAPITAL ship if there are pads for it, making CAPITAL ships like the LIBERATOR and the KRAKEN that have multiple SHIP PADS and BEDS, a really valuable ORG ship when its out flying in the PU. By having this ability a CAPITAL ship becomes an ORG ship when its out in the persistent universe allowing ORG PLAYERS the ability to join their org team mates easily and allows for better logistical control when grouping up and doing missions that require multiple people to accomplish, this ability alone would really make it much easier to join team mates and makes grouping up with people to do missions and makes a CAPITAL ship VERY VALUABLE when its out in the persistent universe as it becomes a spawn point for org members.

    I understand you want to push the video to 10 minutes but doing it in the most obnoxious way possible shouldn't be the way, I suggest you to perhaps prepare some adittional comments about similar ships or the role itself of the ship to add more content to the video. Watching at x2 speed is fine, if that works for you! This is my talking speed, I really don't concern myself with the length of these videos. If you see my gameplay videos, I often speed up the footage to 12x speed, to make them more digestible! But if I talk much faster I trip over my words, so this is just me I guess :(

      Star Citizen probably not going to be as heavy into PvP as EVE, I think

    Why has it taken 8 years to implement this? We’ve been through 2 presidents in that time span lol

      A valid concern, ultimately lots of these ships have a wait time attached, but they are slowly working through the backlog

    Ok i get people want smaller Crew But Orion is a size of Godzilla , Humans are Tiny i mean Real Tiny , to Run Cap Ships will Require Minimum of 7 not 2 , you have 2 once Star Citizen has let say 10 star Systems its a High Possibility you will lose Cap ships fast . you can use That new word Copium as much as you want but to Run a real Mining Operation at that Scale in a safe way you will need a minimum Fleet fighters or bigger to also Protect the Orion . There is no way 2 people can run a Orion not by a long Shot

      What would the 7 people do though, that's the question? Yes, you might want extras outside of this ship for a successful operation, but this video was more about the crew requirements for the Orion in itself...
