    That's the first thing I did on my new 462 when i got home. I love that saw! I run it turned up all the way. You definitely want to fill it with oil every time you gas up. I was nervous at first about it using more oil than gas it's close but you definitely have enough.

    Is there such a thing as too much oil? Only scenario I can think of is if you are using a 462 (with a 16” or 18” standard bar) for smaller logs that are less than half the length of bar and cutting sparingly-which would mean you have to much saw for your purpose.

    The manual says keeping the oiler in the “E” range is suitable for most situations. I run a 462 with a 25” bar and I turned to oiler up on high side without punching the limiter tab in and it was over oiling.

    I haven’t done this on mine as I have not needed it yet with a 28” bar. The oiling seems adequate.
    Do you have it set to Max even with 20” and 25” bars?

    • @Redbull661
      @Redbull661  Před 4 lety +3

      I leave it max all the time. Can't hurt to try it. Do a few cuts with it where you have it. Then turn it to max and do a few cuts. I can tell a difference at 28" for sure.

      @@ladam836 In my opinion there is no need to do it on 25" as well. Some people like to make things harder for themselves. Best example is muffler mode - why on earth would You rip Your muffler so it's "barking" like a dog next to Your ears? Don't use muffs instead. Many will say now, that's for more power....well I worked with lads that would talk about porting saws, modding mufflers, but they weren't able to sharp chainsaw the proper way! What's the point? Have Your saw clean, with clean filters, sharp chain, dressed bar, etc. and it's plenty good. She'll cut like mad.
      I skip cutting techniques, just to focus on saw aspect of the problem. But that would be something to master before, even thinking about porting, modding, and talking s#ite.
      P.S. Cheers for Michael "Slim Jim" Edward O C. who couldn't even put chain the right way, but he was looking for someone to port his Ms 291. Lord have mercy on him.

    I have a 261 and love that saw. But i have several oaks and other trees in the farm to cut this winter that are 24-26” diameter size and really considering getting 462. I feel like the 462 would cut faster and get me out of “danger” zone quicker. Is it worth it or am I thinking wrong? Also better with a 25” or 28” bar. Thanks.

      @fabzacres-blackcat Před 4 lety +3

      The 462c will quickly become your go to bigger Saw in a 2 Saw plan (462c ; 261) ... that being said a 462c on steroids is a light-saber and can easily pull a 28” with authority ... I’ve had a 32” on my personal saw and while it works in a pinch it seems unbalanced (90cc Saw territory imho)
