That's funny. In videos about the 60s everybody says the 60s was best. The same with the 70s and 80s. It's almost like everyone thinks the era that you're young in was best.
@@th8257 you would think most people realise this, but it's shocking to see how many people think that their favourite era is objectively the best era of all time for everyone. 🤦
Wow, I literally recognised nearly every street you drove down. That Odeon cinema in Marble Arch was one of several my brother and I used to sneak into every weekend. That year Arnold was top of the charts with True Lies. You passed by the Cumberland Hotel, which changed to a Hard Rock Hotel before reverting back to its original name. On Cromwell Road, the Marriott Kensington Hotel replaced that Timberland one, the Holiday Inn monster tower block is now a disused eyesore. The 90s was the last great decade before mobile phones took over society.
Awww you passed Marble Arch where the Odeon use to be. Lived in Nottinghill all my life and was so sad when they took that odeon away for some luxury apartments ☹️.
I grew up in London Paddington/Edgware road area. Left in 2005, I still visit Edgware road now and then to visit friends. Last went a couple of years ago was disappointed to see the Odeon marble arch no longer there. Had some great memories there
These were the best times!!!!! We used to just buy travel cards and travel all around London on the trains!!! I was born 1980 so around this time was our prime!! Used to love going to Hamleys toy store!! Winter Wonderland didn’t exist
@@machiavelli6996 I'm 43 and people always take the mickey out of me because I watch stuff like this, but it's because I wish I could turn the clock back sometimes. Nothing has any soul anymore and the Internet and smart phones have a lot to answer for imo
@@richardsmith8790 totally agree mate, there’s no authenticity anymore. We are same age so I would imagine a lot of it is to do with the fact that we were both young and probably didn’t have that much responsibilities. I think being an adult is a bit shit in general.. even the music was much better.
Its so funny when you see videos like this. In your mind, 1994 doesnt seem so long ago. And then you notice certain things that really age it and you think "it really was a long time ago, wasnt it"
Looking back on the first half of the 90s, it was fairly miserable in many ways. The recession had really wrecked everything and unemployment went through the roof. A lot of people had their homes reposessed. The Tory government had been in power for 15 years, was hugely unpopular, and clearly felt like it had totally run out of steam and was holding the country back (a bit like now). The election of the Blair government in 1997 really felt like a huge breath of fresh air at the time, and a big break from the early 90s.
Think thats nostalgia i knew lots of unhappy people then also im 41 , boomers will always say yeh the 60s were amazing. Ive had some great and bad days in 2024 also.
What a video. The 90s were the last great decade. Enough technological advances, but not enough that we could take away the human aspect. No social media, no smartphones. Britpop and funky house in the charts. Loved it.
At 1990 I was 24 what a difference I feel I've lived in 2 different worlds ❤
Great times. I was 14. At 18 my friend bought a golf GTI - then wrapped it around a lampost in Woolwich.
Rites of passage 😂👍
A great decade that pre dates smart phones, dodgy road filters & great taste in music 90’s❤
The music adds to the enjoyment. Thank you for uploading ❤️
So nice of you
Nostalgia. The 90s were the best times
Yes, it was the last decent decade.
Of course, no one has ever felt nostalgia for any other era of human history

F love this video bro , I hate what’s happened to our country since Blair

😃I think I watched My Girl at that Odeon. It's a shame so many cinemas I frequented are gone.
@@bolder2009I remember watching Terminator 2 there and the seats shook with the base 🤣

Born in 81. I have a memory of going to Hamleys and meeting Santa in December 1989. I think I have a picture too.😂

You're spot on, that's exactly how it was for me, people forget

Nope today people have become aggresive, rude and stupid, politics changes but people's attitudes back then was better
i was 8yo at the time and i went to australia for th first time with the family in that year
I was 20 back then, even until now I have not been to australia yet.
The great majority of this travelled route is mostly unchanged
fucking mad how it looks exactly the same as today
When I could drive no restrictions
Before shitty social media
The last decade
