Oh man, it has been ages since I've seen this movie... Yes, disasters and end-of-world scenarios are popular in movies. The Day After Tomorrow could be worth another react, but I wouldn't mind any action-packed disaster movie either, like Dante's Peak for example, or - yes - even San Andreas :D

The Day After Tomorrow is by the same director and was basically the tech demo for 2012.
I'd really want them to see Snowpiercer now. But for Snowpiercer they might need an explanation that humans clouded the atmosphere to cool down the planet against global warming. This is explained very shortly at the start and it might not be something they would pick up on so if it was included into the introduction I think they would enjoy the movie even better.

I was about to make a comment about Day After Tomorrow. I'm always into watching world disaster movies. From astroid to zombies. I just put in order from a to z. I remember the first time I saw 2012 I couldn't sit still while watching it. Because I did the same thing these two did. I would shout, "Go go go" or "someone please punch his face (Oliver Platt)" and I said this, "Yuri, you piece of shit! How could you leave the kids behind, karma going to get you!" Up until (I never saw the movie in theaters I was waiting for the DVD to come out. ) I saw him fall down. Then I said, "WOW, I never thought about what was going to happen. I felt relieved after the movie was over. I told my husband, dang this movie was better than the Day after Tomorrow or Independence Day.

I think The Day After Tomorrow, and Deep impact might be movies our guys (I’m including Ruby) might enjoy reacting to, but May I highly recommend the Tsunami movie The Impossible that was based on a true world disaster. It showcases what really happens when huge tsunamis hit. Not quite the same as Hollywood disaster movies that are fictional. The movie has a very young Tom Holland which I think the reactors to the Marvel Spider Man films would enjoy.

@React20, please explain to the young man, in EVERY "apocalypse" story, there is ALWAYS a group that survives. This movie's plot was a very basic gloss of "Noah's Ark," which story itself came from the "Epic of Gilgamesh," and the flood story there actually came from western India. It was a local Indus area flood, possibly a typhoon or monsoon, but some farmer built a round boat, large enough for his family and basic pairs of their farm animals, just in case a flood happened. His neighbours thought him foolish, till the flood came. The man, his family, and their animals, lived on that round ship till the flood subsided, and put them somewhere above sea level, where they then settled. How this became a "global" flood story is just bizarre.

Don’t show them irrelevant and mediocre movies like this, show them great movies that they can understand and think about, like The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and The Prince of Egypt.

Those are great movies, but I did like 2012 too.

i love how they didnt explain to them that this was a christian propaganda film because otherwise they might not have enjoyed it so much. every time they make one of these stupid end times movies they have to keep pushing back the date to fit with the times, because the propaganda never lines up with their silly little religious book
